Intimate private island hideaway with 19 villas featuring infinity pools, open-air bathrooms and butler service
In the Maldives’ South Malé atoll, Naladhu Maldives achieves a level of intimacy that’s remarkable even by the castaway isles’ standards. In fact, most guests stay ensconced in their stylish villas — and it’s easy to understand why. The 19 "houses" epitomize tropical elegance, with loft ceilings, woven cane beds and a cosmopolitan collection of objets d’art, including Moroccan screens and Sri Lankan fabrics.
Bed and Bath
All 19 houses are identical in size and decor; the ones on Naladhu’s rocky ocean side are slightly elevated. These Ocean Houses offer extra privacy away from the busy lagoon, private palapas on the beach (a two-minute walk away) and, of course, the romantic soundtrack of waves crashing on the shore. Bedroom walls open out to private infinity pools and decks with swinging daybeds and easels, if you're in the mood to capture the spectacular ocean blues on canvas. The island fantasy open-air bathrooms overlook the ocean and have outdoor garden showers, steam rooms and soaking tubs that seem to connect to the pool (the two are actually separated by a plexiglass screen).
Butlers (or VGCs: very good chaps) are more than happy to bring you breakfast (and lunch and dinner, for that matter) in bed or arrange spa treatments on your patio. For couples who do eventually venture out, there are plenty of on-site activities, from yoga lessons and Thai cooking classes to long, authentically Maldivian meals in the lagoonside Living Room. And should you still need more to do, the resort is connected via walkway or boat to Anantara’s other properties, Dhigu and Veli. While Naladhu guests have access to all three properties, the resort itself is for the exclusive use of its privacy-loving residents.
