Barcelo Malaga Malaga, Spain Boutique City Hip Lobby Lounge shopping mall

Overview

A hip Costa del Sol hotel with a popular lounge near mass transit and the beach
The Lowdown
Located in the heart of Malaga near mass transit and the beach on Spain’s Costa del Sol, this Barcelo outpost features 221 rooms that echo the playful modernist vibe found throughout the hotel. From the lobby’s enormous, tear-drop shaped chandeliers to its stainless steel slide that empties into B-Lounge, the design here is decidedly slick. B-Lounge rocks glossy mosaic-tiled walls and lime green cube-shaped chairs and is a great place to nurse a cocktail before heading out for a night on the town. And guests will enjoy creature comforts such as free WiFi, satellite TV, a gym and sauna.
In the Area
Bustling Malaga is a popular stop for most people visiting Spain’s famed Costa del Sol. Shopping opportunities abound here, and some of the best streets to flex that plastic are Calle Larios, Carretería, Álamos and Alcazabilla. The city is perhaps most famous as Pablo Picasso’s birthplace, and so the Museo Picasso, housed in a 16th century palace with over 200 works of art, is a must-see. For a history lesson, visit La Alcazaba, a fortress for the city’s Muslims rulers. And if you want to find a place to unfurl your beach towel, you can do that, too.
