A four-star stay at new boutique design hotel, with a rooftop pool, in the heart of the city's shopping district

The Lowdown

Opened in 2016 as a new breed of lifestyle boutique hotel, the four-star Nakar Hotel in the heart of Palma de Mallorca’s shopping district is as glam as it gets. Not only will you have the city’s best designer brands and high-fashion offerings right on your doorstep, but you’ll get to enjoy ravishing views from the upper floors. Thanks to a resident DJ, you can even set your hotel experience, at certain hours of the day, to a hip soundtrack.
Minimalist rooms and suites come with oak flooring, automated lighting, smart TVs and even hair straighteners, on request. Elsewhere, the light-filled lounges, stunning subterranean spa and roof-terrace deck with infinity pool make this urban set-up one of the city’s fanciest stays. There’s also the CUIT Bar and Restaurant for palate-pleasing Mallorcan cuisine, and you’ll find a swanky bar where you can savor daytime drinks and after-hours snacks – the perfect place to debut your new designer duds.

Rooms and suites

Offering state-of-the-art comfort, all of the 57 minimalist rooms and suites come with oak flooring, contemporary décor with soothing earth tones, stylish fixtures and fittings and plenty of in-room gadgetry. The soundproofed Double Standard room, larger Superior room and even larger Junior suite all come with a king-size bed (or twins), a pillow menu, a smart TV with satellite channels, complimentary Wi-Fi, a Nespresso machine and automated lighting. Bathrooms have rain showers, a bathrobe and slippers, Molton Brown bath amenities and professional hair dryers with diffusers. Hair straighteners are available on request.

Open daily, CUIT Bar and Restaurant is the glam eighth-floor signature spot that showcases contemporary Mallorcan cuisine, courtesy of Chef Miquel Calent. Head here for buffet-style breakfasts, sophisticated à la carte lunches and dinners and after-hours snacks. Dining is also available in your room, or on the rooftop, by the pool. There’s also a bar with a resident DJ, perfect for knocking back a few late-night cocktails.

For top-notch pampering, the serenespa in the hotel’s basement offers a fabulous selection of facials, relaxing massages and top-to-toe body treatments. There are also a heated indoor pool, steam bath, Finnish sauna, two treatment rooms (one of which is a double room for couples), separate changing rooms for men and women and a relaxation area.

You’ll be staying on the prestigious Avenida Jaime III in the heart of Palma de Mallorca’s shopping district. Some city must-dos include splurging on designer clothing, marveling at the colossal Gothic cathedral La Seu, getting lost in the labyrinth of cobbled lanes, relaxing in the stunning gardens of 13th-century Almudaina Palace and checking out the modern masterpieces in the Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art. For other highlights, take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the city, people watch in Plaça Major, learn more about Joan Miró’s work at the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation and stock up on fresh produce at Mercat de l’Olivar – Palma’s largest food market.

We loved our stay at the Nakar. The room was very nice and practical. The roof top is gorgeous. The staff super friendly. You can’t be disappointed! If you want to visit Palma, it is ideally located. You can walk to the old town, have a cocktail and tapas and just enjoy life !

Fantastic Palma hotel

Right from the minute we stepped through the hotel doors the staff t Nakar hotel were so welcoming/friendly, helpful and nothing we asked was ever a problem, providing over and above what we expected. We were even offered breakfast on our morning arrival, which wa a bonus after a very early morning start/flight. Just that bit extra service really added to our overall stay in Palma. We'd definitely be going back and recommend to anyone looking to stay here (although I don't think I could take my kids, unless they have rooms with at least a sofa bed). Beds were so comfortable as were the pillows (which I'm pretty fussy on). We booked direct with Nakar hotel so we got a free bottle of Cava per room.
We stayed in May & there were enough sun loungers available in the afternoon when we wanted, Stunning views too (as per the pictures). They changed the sun loungers into more seating area for drinks from 6pm but we were still looked after and able to sit around having waiter service in this transition.
