- The spectacular setting, from acres of landscaped gardens to verdant mountains
- Award-winning El Olivo is one of Mallorca’s best restaurants with top-notch food and an extensive wine list
- Deià’s quaint cobbled streets have lost none of the charm that’s attracted artists and writers for centuries
- The range of activities on offer from sports – tennis, sailing, cycling – to more artistic pursuits
- Daily free boat excursions come summertime
What To Know
- Ideal for couples or solos looking for a secluded break
- Children 12 and under are permitted at no additional cost when sharing a Double Superior or higher category room with their parents (meals will be charged as taken) — there's also a great Kids Club
- Deià has some excellent restaurants and local bars but don’t expect late-night lounge bars or clubs
- It may be a haunt of rock stars, royalty and Hollywood A-listers but it’s low key here, and you won’t find any paparazzi hanging around
- Deià’s not on the beach but a pretty private cove is a shuttle bus away and it makes an excellent base for exploring the island

How to Get There
While there are families who also stay, this is an especially romantic hotel for couples, anniversaries, special events or, like us, to just enjoy! We did not have one of the upper rooms in the newer section but it was just fantastic and closer to the restaurants, amazing bar area (next to Cafe Miri), pool and reception. The room had a private terrace and was very well appointed and very comfortable. Which is to say, not sure I would pY up for larger rooms since ours was very large with high wood-beamed ceilings and large, modern bathroom. Staff was spectacular (special reference to Julia) but everyone was gracious and eager to help. We had dinner at El Olivo and you really must (for a romantic dinner, not nec for a family dinner where Cafe Miro looks superb. We dined outside looking out toward the lit up Iglesia de San Juan Bautista (John the Baptist) and it was a dinner I will remember. Of note, Deià is a very small town that you can walk in a couple of hours (try tapas at Restaurant Nama, fantastic but do not miss El Olivo). Which is to also say, La Residencia is more of a destination hotel and the scenic town can be taken in quickly. Valldemossa is larger with a bit more to see (Hotel Valldemossa is the perfect follow-on to La Residencia). La Residencia has a lot of terrific amenities, not the least of which is the larger main pool and the adult pool. We were here mid-June and the weather was perfect and crowds smaller since the European schools do not get out until the end of June.
In short, a fantastic hotel, small very charming town (reminds me of a hilltop Tuscan village).
Just had an amazing long weekend at Belmont with my wife. We stayed in a Superior room. It was lovely and the service was outstanding at every level. The building was old world charm and the dining options were superb. Everything was perfect. Food, service, weather, pool not a single complaint. Better than four seasons. We took a complimentary boat trip with Belmond which they run every day for small groups where you see the amazing coast and swim off the boat. Do it, it’s worth it. The village is great too, from the Michelin star place to the simple pan Asian place. The village is as good as the Belmond, a charming and wonderful place. We will return en famille later this year. My only health warning - it’s better than four seasons and also more expensive, but that’s hardly surprising.
Our first 7 night stay at La Residencia and we will be returning. Everything exceeded expectations. Our room was cool and quiet with a comfortable (high!) bed and large bathroom. It was furnished in local style - floor tiles and a lot of wood. The whole property is beautifully maintained and in a wonderful setting. We enjoyed relaxing around the pool. Although we had good intentions to visit many different places we stayed at the hotel a lot of the time, enjoying the serene ambiance and beautiful surroundings. The gardens are delightful and we were treated to the wonderful perfume from the spring blossoms and roses. We enjoyed dining at both restaurants - the quality of ingredients was very high and meals were delicious. Waiting staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. La Residencia obviously hand picks their staff and trains them very well. In fact, all staff were friendly and courteous throughout the hotel. Deia is a charming village and we enjoyed walking in the area. Can't wait to return!
For the most part, La Res lived up to my expectations. It is a lovely property that is very well kept. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. Our dinner at Olivio was excellent. There are three items of note. First is that to get from the rooms to reception, you have to walk outside on cobblestone paths. Not convenient in the rain or when wearing heals. Second is that the rooms on the south east side, 40, 50 63, etc are right above the maintenance shed (it has a green astro turf roof). Workers are in there all day making noise, especially recycling. The sound of crashing bottles and breaking glass is quite a contrast to the otherwise serene environment. While the windows have double pane insulated glass, the frames have no weatherstrip to seal the gaps around the frames, so sound passes right through and you hear everything outside. To their credit however, the one time we spoke to reception, they stopped immediately. It was not an issue at night. Third is that the property is somewhat far away from any significant activities. There are a few small shops and several good restaurants in the area, but it is a long drive to Palma or the wine region.
The Belmond La Residencia in Mallorca is the kind of hotel you dream of visiting at least once in a lifetime and it set a standard that may be impossible to replicate. We stayed for four nights along with two other couples. The rooms were all stunning and the hallways were full of beautiful works of art. Every staff member met us with a smile and they worked tirelessly to get even the smallest details right. Rooms were spacious, bedding was opulent and indulgent, and the decorating was inspired. The hotel felt intimate - as if we were there with just a few others - despite being full of guests. The restaurants and bar service were so good that leaving the property was hard to do although the surrounding area was beautiful and fun to explore. The grounds are stunning and full of geraniums, roses and whimsical lawn art and the smell of honeysuckle permeated all the common areas. The welcoming staff was efficient and our concierge Javier had great recommendations and anticipated all our needs. We travel a lot and regularly stay in 5 star hotels, but this place was in a league of its own. Expensive and worth it.
