How to Get There
We have just come home after an absolute brilliant week at the Barcelo Albatros ... we had and I believe everyone enjoyed fantastic staff amazing food friendly helpful and delightful are words that spring to mind, everyone try’s so hard to make it special and succeeded, unbelievable choices for breakfast and we were never disappointed Thank you Barceló we will be back x
I arrived after a long flight to be greeted by the most friendly staff, I was given a glass of champagne!! which after such a long journey was fabulous. I had previously stayed at the Barcelo Illetas and they upgraded me to a suit. My word, the room was amazing, with an incredible view, stunning but stunning bedroom & suite. The location of Barcelo Illetas is fabulous, the staff amazing and the restaurant had the best Ensaimadas and you could squeeze your own fresh orange juice. I will definitely be going back to stay there.
Spent a week here with my boyfriend and had a good, chilled week escaping reality.
Good points - location, there are beachy coves and restaurants all within walking distance. A bus runs every 15 minutes just outside the hotel and into Palma which is definitely worth doing. There is a restaurant in Genova with outstanding views which is a must do, it's a short taxi ride from the hotel. Food at the hotel was nice and there was a good choice and friendly staff all around. The pool area is a great place to relax and listen to the sea whilst catching some sun. Very clean and tidy and cava on arrival was a nice touch.
Bad points - The hotel room was tiny and dark, we booked a superior double room and was disappointed that we had 2 twin beds in a small vicinity. I went to complain at reception and was advised the the superior room is there lowest range (not sure what its superior too?) And there are no double beds (soon found out this was a lie). Our shower broke and needed upgrading too. I booked the hotel as I liked the sound of the cocktail bar on the roof terrace, on arrival we were informed this will not be opening which was disappointing. There was a lounge area that was shut off so we really only had access to half of what we were expecting to get.
Whilst me and my partner had a great week and wi be returning to majorca one day again, I would not return to this hotel as expectations were not met and it's over priced got what you receive.
Our trip was arranged, well in advance, to celebrate my daughter's "significant" birthday with my son-in-law, my wife and myself with a nice week away from the British weather!
The hotel is well located in Illetas and is very well placed for access to Palma - 15 minutes or so (subject to traffic) - and also handy for the airport. There is a range of restaurants in Illetas, from budget to expensive, so plenty of choice.
Barcello Albatros is a nice, adults only, mid-range, hotel right on the waterfront.
The pool area is excellent with a small private beach and access to adjacent rocky areas for serious sun-worshippers. There is a small pool bar where service is good and drinks are not particularly expensive. The hotel operates a ticket system for beach towels which works well.
We were there on a bed & breakfast basis and I must say that the breakfast service was first class with an excellent range of food options, to suit all tastes, as well as complimentary cava.
Service at the hotel was however something of a mixed bag.
Before we travelled, I requested suprise spa treatments for the girls and Madelin at the hotel made the arrangements politely and efficiently which went down well with the ladies.
However the service when we reached the hotel was a little disappointing.
Small things like not offering to take our luggage to and from our rooms and promising to set a table aside for us on the day of my daughter's big birthday (but not delivering!) were a bit of a let down.
The greatest disapointment however was the room we were allocated.
We had booked Superior Double Rooms with Side Sea View and whilst our room had a glimpse of the sea the view was mainly of the apartments opposite which were fairly close. The room itself was pretty small, there were no drawers for our clothes which we had to pile up in a shelf inside the wardrobe and we also spent the week with our shoes on the floor under a small fixed bench. The toilet was cramped and in need of a freshen up and the shower operation was somewhat "temperamental".
Overall however the hotel was very good and we enjoyed our break - especially my daughter.
The service from Jet2 was up to the usual high standard with 'planes on time, excellent check in facilities and great in-flight service.
We have now stayed 3 times at Barcelo Illetas Albatross hotel, so obviously we love the place. It really suits our type of holiday, the location is perfect, staff are always friendly and happy, also very willing to recommend restaurants, make reservations and offer advise. An overall great experience
