Set on nine acres of lush garden and landscaped lawn, this immaculate heritage hotel dates from 1903 and can count the Prince of Wales (later King George V) as a former guest. The 40 rooms are in keeping with the property’s rich history; suites come with silk drapes, canopy beds and mother-of-pearl mosaics, some with sweeping views of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gwalior Fort. Feast on Asian and Indian delicacies in Silver Saloon’s plush courtyard, or relax in a more casual palm-shaded setting at the Court. And be sure to try the Art Deco–style Bada Bar for after-dinner cocktails. With stained glass windows, chunky colonial-style furniture and an enormous billiards table, this buzzy, coral-pink drinking hole positively drips Old World glamour. Put time aside to enjoy the pool area: The tree-lined deck and hot tub are decorated with green mosaic tiles and two beautifully carved stone lions. And don’t miss the signature Sushupti treatment at JIVA Spa: a full-body massage using a blend of honey, rice and cream.
In the Area
The Usha Kiran Palace is well placed for exploring the main Rajasthan hot spots, including the Taj Mahal, Jaipur and Udaipur. But there’s plenty to do off the well-trodden tourist trail, too. Choose from whitewater rafting, ballooning or rock climbing, or ask the concierge about parasailing at the enormous Tigra Dam, just 12 miles away. Adventure travelers can head out on a motorbike expedition through Madhav National Park. Common sightings include gazelles, leopards and kingfishers, and there are pythons and crocodiles at nearby Sakhya Sagar Lake.
How to Get There
The palace is an oasis of calm set in beautiful gardens, including a lovingly created organic garden. The service was excellent and as a single traveller I was made to feel at home from the moment I arrived.
Ground floor room was spacious and clean. Vegetarian food was excellent using home grown produce from the organic garden. Great place to relax for a few days.
Good place well maintained and very good service but the food wasn't so good ...average for a take standard ...vej options were less
My points for the membership I hold are not added...was a little upset about that
Good property and good for a holiday
The reception staff should be more courteous especially female staff. The restaurant staff should be trained to serve breakfast lovingly to guests and not intend to save on food which gives a cheap impact. The lawns should be cleaned properly.
This palace has a beautiful history which shines through the way it has been maintained. Taj luxury thru and thru. Spent days with business colleagues for reflection and action, And this place was able to create place for both. Must visit.
This was not my first visit to this property but the experience was as amazing as the one almost a decade ago .
its a quiet place with the grandeur of a real palace and staffed with people who make you feel like a king or in my case queen :-) .there's so much to see in the hotel itself that they have a heritage walk within the premises .the manager is warm and friendly and oversees every minute service detail and his staff ensures comfort of each guest .Food served is delectable and the khubani ka meetha ....just writing about it is making me salivate .I left the hotel with wantings in my heart to re-live the experience soon
