Set on nine acres of lush garden and landscaped lawn, this immaculate heritage hotel dates from 1903 and can count the Prince of Wales (later King George V) as a former guest. The 40 rooms are in keeping with the property’s rich history; suites come with silk drapes, canopy beds and mother-of-pearl mosaics, some with sweeping views of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gwalior Fort. Feast on Asian and Indian delicacies in Silver Saloon’s plush courtyard, or relax in a more casual palm-shaded setting at the Court. And be sure to try the Art Deco–style Bada Bar for after-dinner cocktails. With stained glass windows, chunky colonial-style furniture and an enormous billiards table, this buzzy, coral-pink drinking hole positively drips Old World glamour. Put time aside to enjoy the pool area: The tree-lined deck and hot tub are decorated with green mosaic tiles and two beautifully carved stone lions. And don’t miss the signature Sushupti treatment at JIVA Spa: a full-body massage using a blend of honey, rice and cream.
In the Area
The Usha Kiran Palace is well placed for exploring the main Rajasthan hot spots, including the Taj Mahal, Jaipur and Udaipur. But there’s plenty to do off the well-trodden tourist trail, too. Choose from whitewater rafting, ballooning or rock climbing, or ask the concierge about parasailing at the enormous Tigra Dam, just 12 miles away. Adventure travelers can head out on a motorbike expedition through Madhav National Park. Common sightings include gazelles, leopards and kingfishers, and there are pythons and crocodiles at nearby Sakhya Sagar Lake.
How to Get There
Enjoyed our stay, excellent service by staff ( Front desk, Housekeeping, F&B etc.taking personal care. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Food quality is excellent. Central location of property is a big advantage.
I was here for a night to attend a marriage in my family. Wonderful stay, extra courteous staff, they display lot of warmth. amazing in room dining service. excellent quality of food. big spacious room from kings era. lot of greenery and open space. Would definitely like to come back
Ate lunch here after visiting the Jaivilas Palace museum.
The property is beautiful, and the furnishings etc meet the Taj standards.
However, the lunch was disappointing. The beer wasn't ice-cold, the peanuts that came with it weren't fresh. The Teriyaki chicken with wasabi mashed potatoes and tempura fried vegetables, though well-made, had no wasabi taste.
The grilled chicken sandwich was nothing to write home about, either - size-wise, filling-wise or taste-wise.
We had to request water - and napkins.
Not expected of the Taj hotels.
One of the best property we have stayed. What else 1 can ask for, beautiful landscape, amazing staff. The moment we entered we had this Grand Welcome, and in room check-in was facilitated. The Hotel has much more to offer like evening hi tea, and evening rituals. It has huge ground where we had played cricket and beautiful pool.
The Bada Bar and restaurant serves lip smacking dishes.
The buffet also has great variety along with special kids special menu.
Overall a 5 star rating. I really appreciate the entire staff right from the security man, door man, spa staff, restaurant staff for making our stay memorable.
Well the most pulchritudinous hospitality with amazing flavours of food ! Lush ambiance & the most overwhelming staff especially Mr. Pradeep Kumar he is really nice to us ! I would love to visit this place once again in future & will surely recommend to our kith & kins.
