The Island's Finest Five Star Property.
Reviewed 5 days ago

It is impossible to fault the exceptionally high standards of service provided by the very caring staff in this perfectly situated hotel.

Just a twenty minutes gentle walk from Funchal's vibrant centre, the six acre botanical garden of this Quinta provides an oasis of calm.

It's a member of The Small Luxury Hotels of The World organisation, is family owned and contains just 50 spacious rooms and suites.

It exudes luxury, from the world class Dining Room restaurant, to it's sumptuous spa, which in addition to everything else, also houses a Turkish Bath.

There is also a casual restaurant/bar, The Casa da Quinta, for laid back dining, and The Garden Pavilion, for breakfast and lunch.

Two outdoor swimming pools, two libraries, a deck with distant sea views, and beautifully tended lawns, exotic trees, and shrubs.

Yes, I love this island, but I visit regularly, for this hotel.

Perfect escape

Last time we visited this hotel was 12 years ago and it made such a lasting impression we decided to return to celebrate as a family, my mother’s 85th birthday. On arrival, I was informed my room had been upgraded as I had reserved three rooms - a very nice gesture. From start to finish staff were incredibly helpful, be it with taxis, spa or dinner bookings. A special mention to Giselle who works in the spa, who went out of her way to be accommodating and was so insightful when explaining the treatment - reflexology in particular. Thoroughly enjoyable holiday in fantastic surroundings - will not leave a 12 year gap before our next visit!

Our first visit to Madeira and we were not disappointed! All the 5* reviews had prepared us for a special location and so it was.. a nice walk into the town either inland or by the marina, an excellent location for restaurants in the evening time. The grounds are beautifully tended with care by the many gardeners whilst the front of house and other staff are so helpful but nothing too difficult to arrange. We stayed in an executive room with a lovely view out onto the peaceful gardens.

The weather though mixed did allow us to avail of the pool area and breakfast on the terrrace every morning was a delight. Many have already commented on the wide selection of breads, cakes and fruit. For me the pancakes were a welcome treat. We also enjoyed the new flavours of maderia menu in the bar for dinner.. a careful selection of tastes and treats.
In the busy world that we live in, it is great to experience a haven of peace and quiet and exemplar customer service. Thank you to all the staff who make this hotel so special.

Five Star Country House Style Luxury

Our Madeiran home for the past eleven holidays, this hotel really has it all.

First and foremost, THE most caring and thoroughly professional staff.

Six acres of beautiful botanical gardens, so peaceful, but just a twenty minute downhill stroll to Funchal's elegant shops, restaurants, and bars.

A world class gym and spa.

Large and very comfortable guest rooms and suites.

Two swimming pools, one reserved for adults.

Two restaurants, including the magnificently formal 'The Dining Room.'

All day food and beverage room service.

A stylish bar with outdoor patio and daily 'Happy Hour'.

To start the day, a relaxed breakfast, with a wide buffet choice, and/or a la carte.

Always a perfect stay.

Excellence personified

This smallish hotel is absolutely faultless. The setting is totally different to anything else in Funchal. It sits in exquisite manicured tropical gardens that are kept in top class order by a team of gardeners all of whom apply themselves to keep up perfection.
The accomodation just cannot be faulted either. There are various price bands which affect primarily the size of the rooms. You will find not a speck of dust anywhere and all that we saw all have views over the gardens. Yes this is an absolute joy.
No wonder the hotel is able to be one of the World Small Luxury Hotels collection.
The staff from management to back house to support all are total professionals aiming to work and provide a service that cannot be faulted nor indeed compared to be below any establishment which my also be rated at 5*. It is such a pity that there is not a real 6* category as this hotel would most certainly be in it.
