How to Get There
I have always been staying in this hotel whenever I travelled to Manila for more than 10 years past. Before the change, they were known as The Pan Pacific. They were then a hotel with excellent service. I have stayed in various 5 stars hotels in Manila previously before I chanced upon The Pan Pacific. But they did not lived up acceptable standards during my stay there last week. Their front office staff were prompt in attending to my concerns. But their management did nothing to address my complaints. Housekeeping was bad. I press the housekeeping button at 9am but room is usually ready in the late afternoon. This is despite me having to remind them on this. I wont be returning to this hotel and I wont recommend this hotel to anyone.
The Sheraton Manila Bay has a good location and I feel that they have a great staff, attentive, friendly, warm, but the interior is really showing its age.
I can't say enough about the staff itself however and they are really good with only some minor issues.
The interior carpets all are showing age and wear and tear and some clearly need to be replaced as well as some of the room furniture. The shower is clearly old and the windows are not very sound resistant or sound proof from outside street noise (which there is a lot of especially after around 5 or 6pm).The tv volume won't go below 5 also so other rooms can hear your tv at night and you can clearly hear theirs.
The meals were all below average in my opinion and the pizza was especially disappointing for the price paid. They as well take an awful long time for getting you what your ordered and speed and getting the order correct aren't what they should be.
However the hotel is in a good location with the mall nearby and a grocery store as well as nightlife and entertainment all with a short walk or taxi ride away.
I do think after Marriott renovates the interior and improves some of the details this place can easily be a four and a half or 5 star hotel.Just not now though.
I am a Platium memeber of Bonvoy. I tried quite a number of business hotel under Marriott and Sheration throughout South East Asia. Sheraton Manila Bay is one of the worse among the brands Courtyard, Fourpoint, Marriott, Sheraton, Renaisance or Autograph in KL, Jakarta and Bangkok.
The interior is old with full of wooden furniture and the design is definitely 80's style. There is strange noise from the pipes from time to time. I think it comes from pump.
The surrounding area is a bit mess and I am not feeling 100% safe comparing to Ortrigas or Sheraton near the Airport.
The only pros is the cleanness is still there.
