Overview

Mountain retreat with modern amenities and Laotian spa in the foothills of mystic Luang Prabang

The Lowdown

Spread across a handful of pitched-roof pavilions that cling to the lush hills of Luang Prabang, the 24-room Kiridara boutique hotel serves up luxury digs and a traditional Laotian spa overlooking Mount Phou Si. Dine al fresco on tapas and lychee martinis at Phu Doi Restaurant, try a sour-fruit kajeap at the open-air Deck & Poolside Bar overlooking the hotel’s cliffside infinity-edge pool, or nosh on room service from the climate-controlled comfort of your suite. The guestrooms’ flat-screen LCD TVs, high-speed WiFi, and iPod docks give an electronic edge to more elegant Teak and Terrazzo appointments.

In the Area

At the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers, Central Luang Prabang attracts history seekers with its collection of monasteries, Buddhist temples and ancient cultural sites. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage site on foot, starting from the foothills of Mount Phou Si and taking one of two scenic paths into town. The Night Museum, occupying the former Royal Palace known as Haw Kham, is an ideal prologue to any visit, showcasing artifacts and information about the history of Laos. Visit the Night Market, open daily from 5pm to 10pm, to browse the extensive collection of handcrafted wares. And don’t miss the Wats, including Wat Sen and Wat Mai, for palatial photo-ops.

Perfect Stay!
Reviewed 3 days ago

Breathtaking views, awesome hospitality and excellent rooms and facilities! My family and I (kids aged 7 and 4) had a most wonderful time at Kiridara. The room we stayed in (mountain suite) came with 2 large queen beds with plenty of space for the kids to roll around. The balcony was spacious and just perfect to sit and look out to as the sun rises and sets. The food and beverage was of a high quality, breakfast was fantastic. Eggs were made to order and the menu also offered soup noodles, fried noodles, waffles, pancakes.. and this is ON TOP of the buffet spread that had a good variety of fruit, breads, cold cuts, traditional Lao breakfast. Of course, the STARS of Kiridara must be their staff. There were informative, friendly, obliging and so lovely to my family. My son's many request to ride the tuk tuk to town was never refused and met with wide smiles. It was heart warming to leave the hotel on our daily excursions with their nuggets of advice and reccomendations and to return with their sincere "welcome back!". I also had 2 spa treatments at their inhouse spa and the massage therapist certainly knew what she was doing. The treatment room was clean and very relaxing and it was hard to say no to the whole slew of treatments on offer. A definite 5 STARS to the wonderful team at Kiridara!

Great place to stay

I stayed at this hotel for three nights, and would have loved to stay longer. The service was impeccable and the rooms were spacious and clean. One of the highlights was the beautiful pool with an exceptional view of the area. It was such a relaxing time. Don’t let the fact that this hotel isn’t in the middle of the “action” in the town deter you from staying here. We walked into town most of the time (about 20 min), but they also offer regular shuttles for the guests. We were able to book our transportation to the various attractions through the hotel, and we were very happy.

Out-of town with Wonderful stay, beautiful pool, excellent staff!

If you choose to stay downtown in picturesque Luang Prabang then there are many good small hotels and guest houses to choose from- but mostly without swimming pools and perhaps a little cramped.
Out of town just 5 mins by complimentary shuttle bus, the place to stay is at the heart of the hill with surrounding mountains view, the hotel offers very comfortable and spacious rooms. Infinity pool with good breakfast and traditional tastes of local food at The chef’s table Luang Prabang restaurant.
Excellent service with friendly and helpful staff.

Two beautiful days in Luang Prabang
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I spent 2 very wonderful days in this beautiful hotel. The facility is very well appointed and the swimming pool is an infinity pool with a magnificent view of the mountains and forests. But as with most hotels that are great this one has staff that is superbly friendly ad helpful; In particular one waiter in the restaurant was very friendly and kind to me. His name is Mr. Vanhsay. But everyone was well trained and so helpful.

Beautiful and relaxing

My sister and I decided to treat ourselves and book in for a week here. The room was beautiful we had a balcony with a gorgeous view over the pool and the mountains. The bed was very comfy and the staff were so friendly . The highlight was definitely the pool which was not crowded at all. The staff were all very helpful with any questions we had and the room was perfect , great shower and linen very soft. The only downside we found was the breakfast was just ok, the buffet not amazing sometimes the bread was a bit stale. but everything else was perfect my sister went for a massage and said it was the best she had ever had. We got sick one night from the vegetarian buffet down at the night market - don't go there ! and we were so glad we were staying in the kiridara. Special thanks go to the staff Mr Sun and Mimi who was in training there they were so friendly and helpful as was Joy who was lovely as well. The free shuttle bus to town is very very handy but we also walked to and from town every day and it was fine its about a 15 minute walk all pretty flat. Highly recommend staying here !
