The staff and amenities at the hotel are also fantastic but I have to give a special nod to Ms. Candy at the front desk. She was so sweet and kind during my birthday stay and was a friendly face to see in the mornings. She helped with local recommendations and made the trip feel like a breeze. Be sure to check out Ms. Candy—she’s the one with the big smile :)
Candace also provided lovely welcome amenities which were much appreciated.
It was disappointing that food was not served during the stay. That means breakfast elite benefits are not provided during the week. We left the bar after one drink because there was no food, not even snacks available - this seems a pretty big miss both a revenue standpoint and a guest satisfaction angle. It's not in line with the market - I stayed at four NOLA hotels on this trip and this was the only one that doesn't provide food for half of the week. Neville was the bar tender and very helpful when asked about offsite dining options nearby. It was a shame to have to go out because it was absolutely freezing that night.
While I wouldn't rule out staying here again, I would actively avoid it while there aren't decent in-house food options. I like supporting the properties I stay in, the convenience of dining in/room service (especially not being forced outside when it's bitterly cold) and being able to use Bonvoy elite benefits.
Candace's hospitality and graciousness was a real highlight of the stay.
They are also extremely expensive for what they are and more than happy to apply a fee to every service and incident. I was charged more than the max price posted on the door for two nights and they weren't able to help me, I was charged for a minibar I did not use (thankfully, this was resolved, but check your bill), and I was charged for being less than a half hour late for checkout despite calling to let them know I'd be late and offering to have them remove my already packed bags from the room.
There are many many hotels that are both cheaper and nicer in the New Orleans. I will be staying elsewhere in the future.
My family and I arrived at the hotel and there was no valet or staff to help us with our luggage. It was not a big deal because I know the industry took a hit during the pandemic.
We were greeted by Candace at the front desk and she was amazing, and she is the only reason why I rated the Hotel a 2. The first room we were given had a large stain on the rug which appeared to be blood and it was disgusting. Candace graciously changed our room to a higher floor and all was well, so I thought.
I awakened to a water leak in the bathroom light fixture. Maintenance was called, and they assured me the leak was taken care of. My family and I left for the day and returned to the same leaky light fixture. I requested a manager, and no one followed up with me until the the end of the following day. The front end manager, Janelle finally contacted me and assured that she would send someone to fix it. In the interim she offered drink vouchers for the bar or points for our Bonvoy account to which I declined. She ultimately comped 2 days of parking. She never sent anyone to fix the leak continued for 2 additional days.
I’m not certain if she understands that water and electricity do not mix, but the combination could’ve been detrimental to life and to the safety of someone or the hotel structure itself. I should’ve called the Fire Department, but I wanted to give management the opportunity to do what needed to be done. I also failed to mention that I was traveling with a toddler.
This hotel was recently acquired by Marriott and is not living up to the standards that stand behind the Marriott portfolio. I will be contacting Marriott Corporate and the Louisiana State Government about the condition of this hotel.
"Check the parade schedule if going during Mardi Gras season, this hotel is located within the "barricaded" areas of many of the parades."Read full review
