How to Get There
This hotel does not have a pool!
I was under the impression it did but it does not. The pictures are a bit misleading, The rooms are serviceable but do not expect any extra niceties. No microwaves either. The restaurant is VERY expensive as well. We decided to eat elsewhere.
Our family flew into New Orleans for the weekend and decided to stay at the Omni Riverfront. According to the website, the hotel states that they have a pool, free wifi, and that they are a four-diamond hotel. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we noticed that the interior hotel was in serious need of cleaning. On our way to our room, the elevator was incredibly slow as well as somewhat broken, and my daughter and I were chased down the hall by a roach. When we got to our room, we noticed someone had spilled a soda down the desk and that the room looked more like it had been "picked up" rather than cleaned. After about an hour or so, we decided to go to find the pool just to be chased by yet another roach in the hallway which sent us back to our room. After calling the front desk to discover that not only does the hotel NOT have a pool, but they do NOT offer free wifi, and basic internet starts around $14.95 per day. Our family decided that we were better off leaving, and booked at the Courtyard Marriott down the street. Luckily, I was not charged for the room after having a heated discussion with the hotel manager, who stated that the hotel often "lists" amenities from their sister hotel down the street. I have to say I was genuinely disappointed as I was hoping to add the Omni to the list of hotels we prefer but due to this experience, will likely never book at an Omni again.
There is construction in front of hotel. Staff very kind and attentive. I booked on Expedia and the rate was very good but I understood why when we arrived. Due to the construction it was very noisy. On day two of my stay the bathroom ceiling had a huge leak from the roof (we were on the 6th floor). We had been out all day. Got back to the room tired and saw the water all over the bathroom floor. The ceiling still leaking. They moved us to another room but you can imagine how unhappy we were. Maintenance guy said they had just gotten the roof repaired so he didn’t know why it leaked. On our first day right after we checked in another guy just barged into the room without knocking. He said he didn’t know the room was occupied.
Omni didn’t put their best foot forward on this trip. Have stayed at Omni properties before. This was not their best.
