How to Get There
I am a Marriott Platinum Elite member and stay at Marriott hotels throughout the world. I attended a convention and stayed at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott Convention Center from April 14th - 19th, 2019. This is not a great hotel.
The good - the staff are incredibly friendly. I had a suite and it was quite spacious, the beds were comfortable, the TV was good and the channel selection was okay. The internet service was also okay - but not particularly fast.
It is conveniently located
There was no water on the afternoon of April 19th.
The thermostat seems to be a placebo - and you cannot warn up your room from where they set it at a chilly 68 degrees.
Marriott bills itself as a luxury hotel chain. However, Marriott's management mandates that the chain uses horrible one ply toilet paper. For the extra five to ten cents a roll they could easily tack it on to the room charge and rise above a Greyhound bus terminal bathroom experience
The executive club lounge breakfast is mediocre at best. Mediocre scramble eggs and stale,, shoe-leather bacon is the fare they offer every day. The only fresh fruit was an orange. No bananas, no berries. Really poor quality.
This hotel was very nice and clean. Staff were very nice and accommodating. I was in town for a conference at the convention center and it took 3 minutes to get from the room to the convention center. The concierge, Rhoda, was the best ever. She took care of our tours and made all our reservations for dinner. She was the best!
We stayed here for 4 days and was treated with respect and hospitality. The restaurant was delicious but location offered a lot of great options for dinners out. The room was quiet and comfortable. I really felt relaxed when I finished a long day at the conference center that is located across the street. This made it real easy to walk to. There was some road construction in front but concierge services really helped welcome you in the back. I recommend staying at this hotel. The rates are very reasonable.
What can I say about this hotel, but GREAT!!!! The staff showed great customer service, from Sue who greeted us with umbrellas (it rained like cat and dogs), Charles who helped us with our luggage, and James McNair the engineer who had to replace our television. It was the final four and we managed to watch one game, but when the second game came on, no sound! I made a phone call downstairs and James came to our rescue. He immediately, took out the current television, brought in a brand new 55" television, so it was cool to watch the game on a big television.
All of the staff at the New Orleans Downtown showed GREAT Customer Service and I will stay here again.
I spent a week at the hotel. My room was large and quiet (I recommend getting a room at the back of the hotel). Staff in the restaurant and in the lounge were friendly and accommodating. The housekeeping staff made up the room with nice touches. Wifi was fast and steady.
