How to Get There
Came into town for a convention, and staff were amazing! Every single person I encountered - valet, front desk staff, housekeeping, Starbucks baristas - was genuinely friendly and helpful. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the room (and the hotel itself) very clean. 10/10 would stay here again.
This review is SOLELY about the catering provided by the New Orleans Downtown Marriott Convention Center.
I have had plenty of business-related box lunches, but never quite as bad as this one. Too much bread, stale sandwich, a red-appearing fruit (yes, a delicious apple that seemed to have been stored for years), dry and slight mayo on the bread. Oh, yes, I forgot the bottle of water! At least that was good.
The hotel was looked older and could use some updates to the rooms, but was clean. The staff were very friendly. There is a $30 overnight self parking charge. I'm not sure how much valet was, but it wasn't free. We chose to self park. Pretty much every hotel in the area charges for parking so it was cool. I would stay here again based off of my experience.
I had the chance to spend a long weekend at this hotel while attending Earp Expo, a convention for the TV show 'Wynonna Earp'.
Upon check-in, I noticed that the front desk people had name tags that said 'My Earp name is...' with the name of a character from the TV show. Everyone in the hotel staff had taken an online quiz to find which character they were, and they wore that name tag proudly all weekend long.
Housekeeping was always very prompt, even in a completely booked hotel, and they left us a lovely, convention-specific note along with chocolate.
The bar and restaurant staff was always so engaging, cheering with us during the NBA Finals game and celebrating with us when the Raptors won.
My last memory from the Marriott was the warm smile from the hotel valet, wishing me a safe travel when I left on Monday.
I travel a lot on business, visiting customers, attending conventions, all year around, and never before have I seen the level of care and attention that I've seen from the staff at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott. And never have I seen so many convention attendees so enthusiastically praising a hotel.
By far the best staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, and next time I'm back in NOLA, I'll be sure to return to this Marriott.
The hotel is well kept, clean and comfortable. The service is great and the rates were very competitive. I chose the parking package and it worked well for me. The valet people were courteous and I did not have to wait long for the car every time I went out. I would stay here again and can recommend it.
