What We Love

  • A quiet sanctuary from the noise and mayhem of Canal and Bourbon streets
  • Piazza d’Italia is a bit of architectural whimsy all but hidden in the hotel’s backyard
  • Refreshing classic cocktails and fine upscale Creole dining at the Swizzle Stick bar and Café Adelaide
  • The tidy eighth-floor fitness center, which has a small indoor pool, exercise room and spa — it makes for a great detox center after a night out
  • Views of the bend in the Mississippi River and the Crescent City Connection bridges from the river-facing upper floors

What To Know

  • The property opened in 2004
  • The hotel has 285 bright, moderately sized rooms with non-opening windows
  • The convention center is a short walk away, and about half the hotel business consists of those traveling on group packages
  • Immediate neighborhood is comprised chiefly of business towers and tall hotels and feels more like a generic downtown than quirky New Orleans
  • The French Quarter is just a 10-minute walk away

Don't take email receipt of final bill, GET IT IN HAND!

Except for the fact that I was "upgraded at no cost" due to the hotel not having the room I reserved upon on-time arrival and the broken ice machine on my floor, stay was very pleasant, until checkout that is. Called hotel 2 days before arrival to inquire as to location, security and cost of daily parking. Was told that it was onsite, enclosed garaged valet service that would cost $50 daily. All was well until I checked out and discussed with the desk representative any additional charges I may have incurred. I was assured that the ONLY charge was for the two days of hotel occupation. Imagine my surprise to get home and finally get a chance to review my bill to find that not only was the daily charge slightly higher than quoted but that my 2 day stay was charged 3 days of parking. This should NEVER happen.

The bill also included a charge for "Premium Internet" though I asked specifically if there were any more charges. I was given an access PIN at check-in and was never told that I would be paying for its use. Their website clearly states that in-room and in-lobby wifi is free but premium is at an additional fee. My only "use" was when I activated wifi on my unlimited service plan, mobile hotspot capable smartphone and logged in with the front desk supplied password. Why then was I billed for a service for which they offered at no cost and I didn't require because of the plan for which I pay Sprint?

Finally, I tipped the bellman and valet each time I interacted with them - the last time being $20 when my wife and I checked out - only to find that the hotel adds $5.60 to the parking charge FOR the valet. Why isn't that explained at any point of my stay?

Again, the comfort, cleanliness and staff service was commendable; the explanation of charges billed leaves far too much to be desired; I can't with good conscious return nor recommend patronage of this establishment.

What a beautiful hotel. Five and a half stars. Most delightful experience, we were upgraded to the presidential suite. I wish I could remember the gal's name. She said to me first time in New Orleans. We said yes. The service was sensational. A big thank you for such a wonderful stay.Avery Matlow

Loew’s is a beautiful hotel. Clean rooms, friendly staff, great little restaurant. Great location. Had concerts at the Fillmore to attend across the street in Harrah’s casino, walked to the WW2 museum and back. Hop on hop off bus right across the street too! Loved staying here. Amazing view of the Mississippi from the 19th floor!

Was in town for my daughters college graduation. Location was perfect. Close to the Super Dome, French Quarter, everything. Rooms were great lots of space. I got a free upgrade to a queen double which was a nice surprise. The staff was great. Very friendly and available whenever you needed something. I would definitely stay here again.
