A Wonderful Culinary Experience at Secrets Los Cabos

My wife and I are members of the UVC club. We bought our membership in Cozumel four years ago. Since then we have travelled to 8 resorts with AMResorts. Of the eight resorts we stayed in, Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf and Spa is at the very top of this list. The pictures online of this resort looks beautiful but if you really get to see all its beauty. The true gem at this resort is the staff and support staff. Without them it would be just your typical resort. You will be hard pressed to find staff who are as friendly and graciousness
Let me start with the grounds keepers. They work day and night to keep this resort looking perfect. Everything is always in place, just undeniably perfect. They are true craftsmen’s and craftswomen.
We visited all the restaurants and they were superb. I am a chef who has ran multiple restaurants, a catering business and a cooking school for over 36 years. I appreciate food. This resort’s food presentation, professionalism, friendly waitstaff and bartenders, they are good communicators, good listeners, and people who can multitask. All of the restaurants had these qualities. I made it a point to meet the Executive Chef and let him know what a wonderful job he and his entire crew are doing.
When I meet Executive Chef Israel Navarro Gonzalez, I found him to be one of the nicest people I have meet. You just know someone is special as soon as you meet them. Chef Israel is one of those people. I can say I am very happy to have met him and would love to meet him again.
We had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of staying at Secrets Los Cabos. We will be back again for I am sure another wonderful vacation in paradise

This is our 4th stay at this beautiful resort from February 9 - 18 2019 and I always marvel at the way the people treat us. Although the resort was full with many large corporate groups we still felt that we had the attention of the staff that helped make our stay one of the best. Normally We stay down at the Barracuda Bar on the beach to get away from the noise of the larger more active pool. This time we were treated with such a warm welcome that we stayed at the Oceana Restaurant area and did not regret it for one moment.Cesar was right there to help us whenever we needed it and also to converse with - We are happy to call you our friend and returning to see your smiling face would be fantastic!! Eloy was our Server for most of our stay and he welcomed us with open arms and treated us with great respect - we miss you Eloy and can't wait to return. Alberto (there are 2 ;) ) was a sight to see - we met both of these fine men when we were there for our last stay and it was amazing that they remembered us and even remembered what we talked about and yes what our drinks were - lol - the last time we were there. For them to do that meant a great deal to us and is one of the many reasons we return to this beautiful relaxing resort when we can.

Beautifully manicured and the growth that has been accomplished since the hurricane is wow!! The wasps that we have experienced in previous years were no where in sight this year. Never saw a mosquito in the 9 days we were there and the black-flies were under control with the bags that are even used here at home. No complaints at all

very clean and open - turn down service was always a good way to return to the room after a day of fun. We never lacked for anything and always had clean towels everyday. The mini fridge was stocked with pop, juice and water as well as cerveca. Bottled water can also be asked for at any of the bars.

Restaurants and Bars
I have never had a complaint about any of the food at any of the restaurants!!! I have several food allergies that are always accommodated when we travel here - many other resorts do not do this and I appreciate the safety they take to ensure that I am not given something by mistake. Of the 7 our favorite is ..... sorry can't pick one ;)
The bars are always active and each has a specific clientele they cater to. This is fantastic as many times I do not care for the really exciting loud bars. The Lobby Bar - Birdcage - is one of my favorite in the evening. They have live entertainment or a DJ in the evening. You can enjoy the sounds right in the bar or you can venture onto the deck just outside and sit in front of one of the fires and enjoy the scenery as well as hear the live music. Love it the most when they play the Blues <3

Many thanks to all of the staff, both in the main concierge desk and the Preferred Club desk - you are more than willing to help and answer questions whenever you can. Keep up the amazing job - Chief Concierge (I am extremely sorry that I have forgotten your name) but you remembered us each time we have returned and have always went out of your way to greet us and ask us how our family is doing. Thank you - you make us feel like we have family right there at the resort in you and all the staff that remember us. We will return to this amazing resort and I highly recommend going here.

You Can Stop Looking Now

I like to start my reviews by saying I'm kind of neurotic. Cant be helped. I'm a native New Yorker. That being said, THIS PLACE NAILS IT!! I mean, the attention to detail is absurd. The staff was amazing, the room was perfect (upgrade to a swimout but skip preffered) and the food was decent (Im a New Yorker, its hard to impress me)

We arrived exhausted and frazzled from Newark and were greeted with cool, scented towels. We were whisked to reception, checked in and sent off to our rooms. A bell hop noticed us walking and picked us up. About half way there he noticed we didnt have our luggage. Yup, we forgot it back in the lobby. He takes us to our room, opens up a couple of beers for us and zips out to grab our bags. This is the kind of attention and detail we expericiened the entire stay.
We opted for the swim out suite. It has ruined me. I will now and forever have to cough up the extra money for a swim out room everywhere I go. Watching the sunset in your pool after a long day of drinking and playing is an absolute must forever and anon. I went with a gal pal but I will def be doing this for a romantic trip in the future.
The bathroom was huge and well lit. Big enough for two vain women to get ready for dinner without ever bumping into one another

We ate at El Patio one night and I dropped my napkin. No big deal right? The waiter was with another table nowhere near me so I just picked it up and didnt give it a second thought. Not four minutes later he comes out of the blue with another napkin for me. How he saw me drop it is beyond me but that's the kind of staff they have.
The entire time we were there I got the sense that the whole team liked their jobs or at least each other. I never saw a single person break character or look unhappy. Even at peak capacity on Sunday when everyone was trying to get their last drinks in, these guys held it together and handled their business with ease. They all seemed to enjoy each other. This is important to me.

The grounds were spotless and very well maintained. The pool was clean and cool. The drinks were mid shelf unless you asked for something specific. I had Malibu and club the whole trip. One of the bartenders saw us eating our snacks at the Barefoot Grill and sent over a round without even being asked. **SHOUT OUT TO MARTIN AT THE POOL*** You were truly amazing.

Every meal we had was decent. I dont have a single complaint. Even the burgers were good. The wine selection was limited but good. 2 whites, 2 reds. El Patio and Oceana are a must. Everyone will tell you to go to Portofino, their Italian dining option. Again, native new yorker so its really hard to impress me especially with Italian food. If you're from the triState area you can skip it but I dont regret eating there. I have a really lovely risotto with bacon. Cant go wrong there.

Would I go back? I was already planning my return trip 2 days into my stay. I regert not booking longer. If Secrets opened a resort in Afghanistan I'd go. Uzbekistan? I'm on it. Mars? I look great in red. They made a lifer out of me

PS I was going through the rest of the review options and came across whether this was luxury or mid range. The caliber was luxury. I mean the robes, the bedding, the spa, the decor, everything but we only paid about $1648 per person and that includes airfare from Newark. So for me pricewise it was midrange but really Id put this in the lux catergory

This resort was nice and clean, good food and service. The pool bartenders and hosts were exceptional. All restaurants were avg to good.
Cons: only one real pool, embarrassing for that size resort ( see Jamaica secrets), not near enough chairs at pool, night time entertainment not here, very noisy night club even for me. Room 2401 avoid

Love This Resort Every Time We Go!

This resort sits on a beautiful property with many pools, surrounded by a wonderful 18 hole golf course. Checking takes minutes! The staff is friendly and very helpful... the staff to guest ratio is very high. The grounds are impeccable. The rooms are awesome! The restaurants; the food; the wait staff; all superior! The restaurant staff all speak good english. We wish the cleaning staff spoke english, but most don't. There are certain buildings designated for 'Preferred Members'. If you're not in a preferred building, but are a preferred member, some extra amenities are sometimes overlooked.... Not a big deal. They take care of it promptly.
The proximity to San Jose is fantastic (maybe 10 min) and the trip to Cabo San Lucas is roughly 35 minutes. Area restaurants are excellent... you can't go wrong. Each Thursday, there is an art show in San Jose... excellent pieces of work. Back at Secrets, Diego was our Customer Service Director. He made sure everything was perfect. If not, he took care of it. Secrets is part of AM Resorts; a club, not a timeshare. There was never any sales pitch or pressure to do or buy anything. The focus at Secrets is to provide outstanding customer satisfaction. We can't say enough about this resort. We'll be back!
