Overview

So-Cal swagger—an organic spa, Paleo breakfast pancakes, beach house inspired rooms—on Mexico's Baja Peninsula

The Lowdown

Jay-Z, Chelsea Handler, and Peyton Manning have all descended upon this cushy cliff-top kingdom, so it’s no surprise that superior service—long a hallmark of the California-based Auberge group, which starts with gratis shoulder massages at check-in—plays a starring role. The secluded setting tucked between two atmospheric bluffs only adds to the exclusivity factor, and there are plenty of private pockets to choose from to lounge your stay away, including cabanas on Cabo San Luca’s only private beach, the hammocks and balcony-set Jacuzzis in your seashell-hued casita, or one of the steam caves at the showstopper of a spa. The resort’s close proximity to Punta Ballena means you’re in prime whale-watching territory, helped by the Nikon binoculars deposited in every room (in the winter months, you’ll spy humpbacks). The six on-site eateries, which range from a swim-up cantina, a ceviche bar, and an Argentinian-inspired seafood restaurant with delicious ocean views, are all top-notch. Though it’s equally tempting to reach for your in-room tablet and swiftly summon a squash blossom frittata from the comfort of your airy verandah.

In the Area

The property is a 30-minute drive from the San Jose Del Cabo International Airport—for a surcharge, the resort can arrange for shuttle service for up to six guests. While the hotel’s private, albeit rocky, beach doesn’t disappoint, you’re also within easy reach of Playa Monumento, a hotspot for the surf set, and the Cabo del Sol Gulf Club, comprising a quartet of championship courses. And though you’re just four miles from the nightlife of Cabo San Lucas, cab rides can be exorbitant—opt for beachside tequila tastings, sunset cocktails at the lounge bar, or in-room margarita delivery at the resort instead.

Stay Of A Lifetime

If luxury is what you expect, look no further. The 4BR Villa with private pool is 100% 5+ Star. My family has stayed at many resorts; however this one is the best. You should request Jorge Lopez for your personal concierge as well. He came and took care of every need/want with haste and professionalism. We stayed in villa 501 and I consider it the absolute best choice. From the breathtaking sunsets, to the delicious 6 course meals, every detail was absolute perfection. We will definitely be back and look forward to our next visit.

Absolutely amazing

You cannot go wrong with any area here at Esperanza! We stayed in the private residences in Las Residencias with complete access to the grounds including pools, restaurants and spas! Absolutely amazing!

Great Stay

We stayed in a ocean view casita. Had a view of the ocean, adult pool, and the arch (Room #60). Hot tub on the balcony which was nice. The resort was beautiful and the staff did a great job of taking care of us. The resort has four restaurants. We are at two of the casual ones, the shrimp tacos and ceviche are awesome! Toro is a restaurant at the entrance of the resort which was also great. Drinks and food were delicious throughout the resort. Like most high end resorts prices can be a little elevated (mixed drinks approx $20, beers $8, lunch entrees $25, and the main restaurant $50 dinner entrees). Getting a ride around town was no problem (about $25 to and from anywhere you go).
Overall our stay was great, very relaxing and quiet. The adult pool was great. There is also a swim up bar and additional pools in other parts of resort. Would highly recommend.

A true 5-star resort!!

The Esperanza is a world class resort. We rented a 3-bedroom oceanview Villa with two other couples. The room was perfect for our trip. Great views, great common area and perfect amount of privacy for our stay. The food selection and quality was also great. We dined at several of the on-property restaurants as well as poolside and in our room. Each meal was delicious and our service was fantastic. Arranging for Taxis to leave the resort is no problem at all and reasonably priced. We left 3 times in total during our stay and always felt safe and well serviced. The views and pools are spectacular. Plenty of chairs and options for seating/soaking. There are many hidden nooks to have a drink or eat a meal and feel like you have total privacy. If you want to feel more in the mix of the resort in general, you can have that as well. The spa is great and our services were on point. We also took advantage of their group classes and fitness center. We were only there for 4 nights but felt like we got a tremendous amount of value throughout our stay because of all that the resort has to offer. I would not only recommend the resort to others but I look forward to going back again myself. Such a world-class place. Very happy we chose the Esperanza.

Great Family Vacation

Spent time with my family wondering through the pools and beautiful gardens. The three bedroom apartment was wonderful. The facilities were immaculate and the fridge was filled with your choice of items ( order before you arrive)

Recommended for large group. Enjoy all the pools and great restaurants. Try margaritas at the adult pool “wonderful”

Enjoy your quote time at the spa and walking the gardens. Everyone in the family enjoyed it very much.
