Jay-Z, Chelsea Handler, and Peyton Manning have all descended upon this cushy cliff-top kingdom, so it’s no surprise that superior service—long a hallmark of the California-based Auberge group, which starts with gratis shoulder massages at check-in—plays a starring role. The secluded setting tucked between two atmospheric bluffs only adds to the exclusivity factor, and there are plenty of private pockets to choose from to lounge your stay away, including cabanas on Cabo San Luca’s only private beach, the hammocks and balcony-set Jacuzzis in your seashell-hued casita, or one of the steam caves at the showstopper of a spa. The resort’s close proximity to Punta Ballena means you’re in prime whale-watching territory, helped by the Nikon binoculars deposited in every room (in the winter months, you’ll spy humpbacks). The six on-site eateries, which range from a swim-up cantina, a ceviche bar, and an Argentinian-inspired seafood restaurant with delicious ocean views, are all top-notch. Though it’s equally tempting to reach for your in-room tablet and swiftly summon a squash blossom frittata from the comfort of your airy verandah.
In the Area
The property is a 30-minute drive from the San Jose Del Cabo International Airport—for a surcharge, the resort can arrange for shuttle service for up to six guests. While the hotel’s private, albeit rocky, beach doesn’t disappoint, you’re also within easy reach of Playa Monumento, a hotspot for the surf set, and the Cabo del Sol Gulf Club, comprising a quartet of championship courses. And though you’re just four miles from the nightlife of Cabo San Lucas, cab rides can be exorbitant—opt for beachside tequila tastings, sunset cocktails at the lounge bar, or in-room margarita delivery at the resort instead.
How to Get There
Bliss is the word that describes time at Esperanza. From the sunshine filled days to the starry nights - the resort brings a sense of peace to the chaos of life outside the resort. Three days here was transformative. Starting the day with yoga and stretch classes - great instructors. Don’t miss fantastic fajitas poolside ... of course I’d be remiss not to mention the thoughtful service arranged by the extraordinary concierge Claudia ... every moment was magical. The most magical time of year can be found anytime at Esperanza!
This stay was our first Auberge property. We were blown away with the quality of the room, restaurants, service and resort. Neither words nor photos do it justice. There were special events on the resort that we greatly enjoyed. We also had the opportunity to travel to other recommended restaurants and experiences in the area. We were not disappointed and look forward to return.
The property, accomadations, meals and staff are the best there is. Victor was our villa host and was always there for anything we needed. A+ This was our third time here in twelve months. We will definitely be back soon.
Our third trip to Esperanza this year! Everything was above and beyond. The Staff, from the moment we arrived (Hello Jose!), make it so easy for a Single Mom with 9 year old twins.
Gerardo, our personal Concierge, really helped make this trip seamless. His warm smile and hospitality made everyday very special. We really miss him.
One of the highlights of the trip was the fitness program with Guest Trainer, Dirk Schultz. Wow! What a treat! To have a world class fitness instructor help me feel like a million bucks during our stay? Priceless. I also really enjoyed the Guided Hike with Barbie. It’s a “must do” activity, worth the 6:30 am start time. The hike is truly spectacular with amazing views of The Arch.
The Spa is simply second to none. Connie, the Spa Manager, arranged a massage for my children. It was their first spa experience and one they will never forget (especially the giant Coconut Water)!
The restaurant staff by the Family Pool, Wendy, Sergio and Jimmy, made my life very easy and fun! They always had my Son’s favorite drink, a Mango Smoothie, ready and waiting.
Finally, I really enjoyed the Day of the Dead Celebration and “Rose all Day” theme of La Palapa. Edwin, Alfredo, Victor, Alberto and Rigoberto were so attentive!
Looking forward to the opportunity to visit this very special place again!
I stayed here with eight other friends for my 30th birthday. We could not have imagined a better place. We saw whales while eating breakfast, spent an entire day from 9am-7pm by the pool without ever touching our phones, and enjoyed one of the best dinners of our lives at Toro. The staff was exceptional and seemed to preempt our every want and need. The grounds are stunning and immaculately maintained. We will be back to this resort for many more celebrations!
