How to Get There
Not so sure where to start. We were told months ago by a "member" of which we are a guest, that there was construction going on and we were ok with that because we didn't think we would be in the room that much (planned on fishing most of the time). When we first checked in, we were met by some really nice people but don't let them fool you. After you check in is where the niceties stop. We were brought into a room with a nice view and filled out paper work and that is when we were told about the 90 minute presentation in order for them to sell us a "membership" not a time share. They told us that there were no resort fees here and that is what set them apart from other places, HOWEVER, there would be a $6 per day charge ($3 for members) for internet usage, $3 per day for the backend staff, $1 for the children's program here, all which amounts to what others call a resort fee. The next day we arrived at our appointed time and was met by a very nice lady who showed us around the property. She wasn't too clear when I asked her how long she had been here as she was able to provide detailed answers to some questions, but not to some simple ones. Once we were passed off to the person who was actually going to sell us, he shook our hand and almost immediately started cursing. Now, I'm prior US Military and can deal with some language, however this man was dropping extremely vulgar words in mixed company. Females and children within 15 feet of his very loud expletives. After almost two hours in, I told the guy that I wasn't interested in purchasing a membership because it didn't work for me. I told him that on day four or five would be better for me so I can see how the place works and get a feel if I wanted to be a part of it. It was a one time offer. After he finally stopped degrading people who want to make an informed decision, he passed me on to someone else who was suppose to close up and give us the stuff promised, the new guy come and tried selling us again, this time dropping the cost of the package by almost 80%. So, like other timeshares or "memberships" as they are called her, you sit through a presentation and they give you a free dinner or discounted attraction tickets. We had originally asked for a day fishing trip package and was given one for half price. $450 trip for $218. Later that day we realized that the fishing package we received wasn't something that was as we expected, we asked to switch to something else. We selected the ATV tour. Because of the price, we were given it for free as long as we paid $20 to go to the place to ride and had a credit card to put 25% of the cost of the ATV on and pay an additional $25 or so dollars for mandatory insurance. We wanted to change that after we called and got the information about it but the staff here would not let us change it. Ok, we had changed it once before so that was somewhat understandable, however they needed to make it clear what the "free" actually entails.
So now onto the room. Our ocean front room with a jacuzzi on the balcony has an amazing view of the sunrise...as long as there is not a cruise ship in port. Over all the view is great. What ever you do though, do not leave a cup or glass sitting on the counter for more than a couple minutes because it will be crawling with very small reddish, aphid looking bugs. I had a glass ok Pepsi, set the glass down and went to the restroom, when I come back, there were probably 50 of these very, very small bugs all inside and outside my glass. I had seen them here and there on the books in the room, or crawling on my phone, but the glass in was just drinking out of kind of shocked me.
Over all, I see why they try to sell you on the first day you are here before you have a chance to see how things are. We currently have three and a half more days left and if anything else isn't up to par, or if things by chance get better, I will update this post. Until then the two star rating will remain and it's only two stars, not one, because of the food, and the band that played our 1st night.
We stayed in a one-bedroom unit in Building 1, 4th floor, overlooking the pool.
First, the good news. The decor is better. The bathroom has been updated and the furnishings are new. The AC works well. There were no problems getting a chair by the pool or on the beach. The beach staff were particularly attentive. The restaurant is SO much better. The menu is great, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is wonderful.
Not really much bad news, but there is some. Management: If you want to compete with quality timeshares, here's what you need to do.
1. Do not force everyone to go through your timeshare presentation before they can get to their room. A group update where owners can attend voluntarily would be much appreciated.
2. Put some paper towels, salt and pepper, and a complimentary coffee and bottle of water in the kitchen. We all would like coffee our first morning in Cabo, and few of us have had time to go grocery shopping.
3. For Pete's sake, put some tissues in the bathroom! I have never stayed in a place without tissues!!!!
4. The pillows are very uncomfortable. Please get some new ones.
Wow! My travel experience with Cabovillas.com was the BEST! My travel agent was in California she answered all fifty million questions, called me back, sent emails and helped me every step of the way. I worked with Kimberly Zamora and I plan to work with her again soon because we will definitely be back!
This was our second time staying at Cabo Villas, the first time we were very satisfied, this time our expectations were exceeded.
We traveled as a party of 10 and stayed in a three bedroom penthouse (508) and a two bedroom executive suite (unsure of the room #). The entire group was thrilled with the experience and all agree that they would like to return.
The resort staff was friendly and happy to help. With that said, we looked for very little help. They were helpful but not intrusive during our stay.
The construction is ongoing and it did not bother us at all.
The views are breathtaking!
The location, tough to beat being right on Medano Beach and a quick 5 minute walk to the Marina.
Rooms were updated and equipped to make our stay as easy as possible.
The one undesirable in our opinion was the pool area. We prefer the beach over the pool so this was a non-issue for us. Looking at the future plans for the resort the pool area looks like it will be amazing.
We look forward to returning in the future!
I love Cabo Villas! The staff are amazing and they treat me like family! The construction is terrible but can’t be helped. I think should discount the stay for those who have time shares. I’ve been going there for 15 plus years. I’ve seen them go through changes over the years. I think once this construction is past then things will return to the sound of “quiet”. I’m at the beach most of my time so the construction doesn’t bother me. We bought an upgrade so we shall see about that once I get there.
