The Buccaneer is a first class hotel with a stupendous view and excellent food and service. We went there last week and will return the weekend for a birthday celebration. We both had filet that was cooked to perfection. The city lights of Christiansted twinkle in the distance adding ambiance to the fabulous food.

The Place!

Spending a couple of weeks a month here on business. I've told the staff several times, in an area that has little to no concept of customer service, this place is wrecking the curve! Outstanding facilities, but the staff is even better. You cannot come here and not feel welcomed and, as they say, a part of the family. Love the Buccaneer!

Nice week at The Buccaneer
Reviewed 4 days ago

We stayed the first week of December for a professional conference and found a lot to like about The Buccaneer.

Our room was a king room in the Great House overlooking the water over the rooftops of the beachfront rooms. It was comfortable and clean. Housekeeping was timely and did a great job each day. Every person on staff that we interacted with was friendly and professional. The included breakfast buffet was very good with a wonderful view to enjoy while eating. Lunch and Dinner were also good, but more expensive than I expected. I did find a hot dog with guacamole at the Mermaid for $15 and that was about the least expensive thing I found. Each beer.... even a can of Bud Light cost almost $10 (including automatic gratuity). Not complaining as much as letting others know what to expect. The food was good at dinner, but after the first night we started asking to be seated around the corner and well away from the live music because it was really way to loud too be able to have any conversation at dinner. The music was technically at the more casual "Lounge" restaurant, but The Lounge and The Terrace are two parts of the same room and you can order from either menu... they are essentially one restaurant. Not sure if it was because of the time of year but sometimes lunch was only available at the Mermaid and nowhere else. One night dinner was only available at the Mermaid and nowhere else. The lunch menu at Beauregard's on the beach was our favorite for lunch but it was only open some days and not others. The service and food was good at all of them. The concierge desk was very helpful in arranging restaurant reservations off the resort and transportation to and from the local restaurants. Every taxi driver we had was very nice and very professional. The pools at the hotel were small and sometimes had no access to any food or drinks without leaving the area. The mermaid is open for lunch every day ( I think) but there is no pool there. The small pool at Beauregard's Beach is nice but small and some of the days we were there the bar there was not open so you would need to walk over to Mermaid Beach (not all that far away.. but too far to make sense getting a drink to bring back to your chair at Beaureguard's Beach). The Arcade Pool is nice if you are staying up top ,but the closest bar or food was down at the bottom of the long hill. We would have appreciated an easier way to get some food and drinks at the Arcade Pool and at Beauregard's Pool on the days when Beauregards is closed. With the main bar and restaurant up top not open during the day there is really no reasonable way to get food and drinks at the Arcade Pool. This might be very different during their high season, this is just what we experienced during our stay. The golf course looked to be in good shape though I did not play. The tennis program is good as is the facility. The resident pro was away our week but the substitute pro (Kevin) was excellent and a real fun guy. Gayle in the pro shop was very friendly and helpful as well. We would go back again. Very nice place!

Would stay here again

I loved my stay here. Very helpful staff, easy shuttles around the resort, clean and luxurious rooms that have an ocean view with porch and comfy beds. Breakfast is amazing and the restaurant food is pretty good although pricey (standard for a high end resort though).

Very Interesting

This hotel was overrated and over priced. The resort was beautiful and clean. The staff working there were very pleasant and helpful. The front desk manager however, that lady was terrible and rude! she rudely stated that if I was given the wrong room that wasn't her problem. I would have expected a more customer service oriented response,... like let me see how we can accommodate you, or let me see what I can do. Instead all I got was an angry woman that probably never had customer service training and would not accept responsibility as the front desk manager. The food is super expensive and breakfast is the best meal!!
