Overview

Contemporary crash pad with an Art Deco cocktail bar and a handy location close to Milan's central train station

The Lowdown

Opposite Milano Centrale, which is one of the most beautiful train stations in Europe, the Starhotels Anderson is a handy base from which to explore Italy’s fashion capital. The Art Deco interiors feature deep red fabrics and ebony walls, bold prints, zebra-print mirrors and plush sofas, and the 106 guestrooms are elegantly decked out with signature Starbeds and fabrics including leather and silk. Dine on classic Italian dishes at the Black Restaurant by Eataly or opt for cocktails and light bites at the Black bar. The 24-hour fitness room, free WiFi and express checkout are good for travelers on the go.

In the Area

The hotel is located directly opposite the Milano Centrale train station for fast rail connections in the city and beyond. Milan is a top spot for shoppers; global fashion houses such as Prada and Gucci dominate Via Montenapoleone, and alternative and vintage boutiques are scattered along Corso di Porta Ticinese. Culture vultures can head to the beautifully ornate Duomo or visit one of the city’s many art galleries, such as the Museo Poldi Pezzoli. Stop for a sweet treat at one of the city’s hundreds of gelateria, which serve old-fashioned ice cream. For something more substantial, a meal at Da Vic is a must; the freshly prepared Italian fare is among the best in Italy.

Pleasantly surprised

Only stayed one night in this hotel after moving from a nearby one that was awful. The atmosphere when you enter is very nice and the room was great. They upgraded when we arrived which was very nice and the room very good. Close to the train station which is useful for traveling

Very good, apart from breakfast.

Stayed here this weekend. Very good location, train station across the road, metro station round the corner. My room was very nice, could do with a plug socket near the bedside not just by the mirror, but apart from that, the show was good, it was cleaned very well all 4 days.

People on reception were very friendly and always helped when needed. The bar was open to midnight and the lady behind there was also very friendly and funny with it.

The biggest let down however, was the hot breakfast in the morning, need of improvement here, not enough selection and this was mentioned by others I was with and met in the hotel. The cold side of breakfast was good and the coffee and service was very good. But an extra plug socket and a decent hot breakfast is all this hotel is missing.

Apart from the very good, especially if you want access to local transport system, nice bed, and friendly staff, this is the place for you.

Pleasant stay

We stayed for two nights at this hotel having a room on the eighth floor. The room was of reasonable size, comfortably appointed and the air conditioning efficient. Tea and coffee making facilities were available. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice available making for a good start to the day. The staff were overwhelmingly friendly and helpful. The hotel is 5 minutes from Central station, so very convenient if departing by train from that station or arriving at it. Although some way from the central area, there is easy access to it by Metro and we bought day tickets for 4.50 Euros giving unlimited use of public transport for 24 hours. The only niggles were the poor internet strength and few power points in the room to charge electronic devices.

Stunning!

From the beginning everything was perfect! Attention, room, amenities, price of the room service and cleaning! We had a room on the upper floor and we enjoyed the amazing views!!! A drawback? We went to Milano for our wedding anniversary and we didn’t receive anything!

Check the a/c is fixed before you book!

The room was ok. Breakfast is limited & served in a small restaurant in the basement level, so not ideal. Main problem was no air con for the entire stay (6 nights), they didn’t provide any info or apologise - rooms were uncomfortably hot. Check the air con is fixed before you book! Star Echo over the road much better.
