How to Get There
This Doubletree is located in a bit poor area of Milano, my first impression is therefore less than good. My first idea was, can I leave the car parked in front of the hotel or do I need to pay a hefty 20Euro fee for hotel parking. Anyway.
At checkin I was at first given a room according booking with not even mentioning the room upgrade availabilities for HH Diamond members - upon my question I finally got the upgrade to a suite, I had to ask for it.
A good stay starts like this: I hand over my passport, they read my name and say "welcome Mr. Peter, as you are a Hilton Honors Diamond member, we are happy to offer you a free upgrade to one of our suite rooms. Your benefits you can avail in our house, are the following:...We hope you will have a great stay with us".
I got: No attention, no hospitality, no feeling to be appreciated, room upgrade only after asking for it.
The hotel has no executive lounge and no happy hour too.
Although there is a resto-bar next to the front desk, you, as a Diamond member can only get a free orange juice or sparling wine, no other alcoholic beverages or not even a beer!
There was also no attempt from the front desk to at least offer a second drink or some other rectification for the poor facilities I mentioned to them.
The suite room 513 is a two room unit with a tv room and a bedroom, both surprisingly small and in old condition where especially the walls and ceiling cries out for some repairs. Again, just as the first impression of the location already implied, the room was in poor condition too. Not that it was so bad, it just did not live up to the international four star Hilton Doubletree stndards.
All in all I believe the hotel is at most a 3star hotel and as mentioned, a lot below what I am used to get, especially on my many many Asia / China stays.
In short, I am not amazed at all, I am not satisfied with what I got, I believe this is just not enough and I strongly suggest to rethink wether this hotel represents the Hilton standards well enough. Poor place, poor hotel and no hospitality from the front desk, wich did not offer anything to make me feel apreciated, while it got the opportunity to do so.
I had booked three nights. The hotel is smart and the bedrooms are comfortable. It's located a little way away from the City.
The breakfast is disappointing. Industrial orange juice and a limited selection of hot cold and bakery products. On the third day left the room at 11.00am and returned at 7.00pm to find the room had not been serviced. On the way out I reported the issue to reception . They said they would arrange for the room to be tidy and clean towels. On returning at 11.30 the room was exactly the same other than a pile of towels on a unmade bed. The bathroom still had dirty towels over the bath and the amenities had not been replaced. Dirty paper cup still beside the bed and the waste bim full. There were 2 bottles of water in fridge. Ads a Diamond member I was surprised and disappointed at such appalling lack of care.
Expected of a doubletree.
Pillows flat as pancakes.
Looks rather tired.
Breakfast has many tour coach guests; making it a mess.
Staff attitude at breakfast area poor.
I asked for a pot of hot water and was told to go to the coffee machine. And given a look from the lady who wears glasses, with dark skin: all they do is clear plates and stand around talking.
I am NOT part of the tour and am a full paying customer!!!
Do you think I do not know what water I need?? I need it to blanch my oats. Thanks for not asking.
Very poor service and attitude.
For that: 2 stars.
This hotel is perfect for my company meetings. It is very close to our Milan HQ. However, it is not the best choice if you are in Milan as a tourist. I stay here frequently and it is a great hotel. If you are only planning to visit the downtown attractions, this may not be your best choice. It is close to public transport and about a 15 minute trip downtown.
Good value for money, quite inexpensive while offering good rooms, food and location. Helpful to have a car or use taxis.
Area may not be the nicest but for visitting Milan or surrounding area, this is recommendable
