How to Get There
We stayed in this hotel a few years ago and we had a good stay so I booked again for one night for myself my partner and another room for my son.our stay was August 9th, unfortunately the hotel has gone down hill immensely since our last stay, the room was very shabby, a smell of stale urine in the bathroom, bedroom furniture had seen better days and then to top it all the air conditioning wasn't working, just thankful that the weather wasn't too hot. Next morning I went down to breakfast where every table had dirty leftover plates from previous guests and when I went to get some of the hot food all that was left where kidney beans, yes that's right not baked beans, kidney beans for breakfast, no cups, no bread, no eggs. They did provide us with a fan for the room and the lady on reception was very kind when I complained about the air conditioning, so she said that she wouldn't charge us for breakfast which I said was included, and she didn't charge us for parking. The fact is that it is understaffed, just the one person on reception and also trying to serve breakfast. Won't be staying there again.
Has an elevator, which is critical. Pleasant receptionist/staff. Parking is tricky because it is about 70 feet down (the wrong way) on a one-way street. Shower plumbing in my room was not working correctly -- no temperature controls for water (so only cold) and instructions/picture did not match the installation. This may be an artifact of change in name, upgrades (?), or something like that. It was possible to get ice from the receptionist/small little bar on first floor.
I was there on April 19. Great location, steps from the old town, also steps from the station. Not that it matter to me, I drove a car, beautiful locked parking on the property. Newly renovated under Campanile chain (by the way, so it happened that I stayed at 3 different Campanile hotels out the 7 hotels used on my trek through Loire Valley). It must be a reason, Campanile offers a great value and their hotels have a little higher standards that others.
Anyway, the hotel is basic but clean, quiet even it face a main street, well maintained and it is run by a great team. My car would not start in the morning, left the lights on over night. The girl at the reception helped me a lot, I had trouble with my phone, she called for me from her phone, she was o the phone with the rental company, then she came out to the car, then back in and back out to meet the service technician that came for assistance.
She offered me the room back while waiting for the car service after I checked out, I didn't need it to but it was nice she offered, then she offered me a tea while waiting in the lobby.
Small things that make a BIG difference to me. Management should be proud to have a girl like her on staff!
Merci beaucoup Jean !
