All-suite retreat with a rooftop deck within strolling distance of Lisbon’s tree-lined shopping thoroughfare Avenida da Liberdade
Close to Lisbon’s financial and upscale commercial quarter, the Altis Prime was launched as an ultramodern apartment hotel in 2010. Award-wining Portuguese interior designer Cristina Jorge de Carvalho meticulously designed each room with a minimalist yet elegant touch: Floor-to-ceiling wood paneling and quilted leather furnishings combine with a delicate color palette of white and earth-tone neutrals. Amenities include a well-equipped kitchenette with a microwave, a fridge, an electric range and a Nespresso machine. The cozy home-away-from-home extras range from bathrobes and slippers to pillow menus and organic Omnisens Paris toiletries. The Lounge Caffé, which serves light meals and drinks, is casually chic in design and ambience. Weather permitting, the discreet rooftop deck and Jacuzzi are available for all guests to use. For business needs, the in-house meeting room accommodates up to eight in a naturally lit setting, while the tiny business center is suitable for quick tasks on the fly.
In the Area
Take a brisk five-minute walk to the northern end of the swank Avenida da Liberdade and browse designer boutiques or local retailers such as Lanidor and Fashion Clinic. Nature lovers might prefer a stroll to Eduardo VII Park, the largest (and arguably loveliest) green space in town, and to the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcantara, a popular meeting point that offers beautiful views of the city. Choice eateries abound, but for traditional cuisine in a classic Portuguese setting, book a table at the old-school favorite Gambrinus.
