If you’re looking for a cultural fix in the Portuguese capital, look no further than this four-star designer sleep, boasting a super-central location. It’s set just steps from the high-end fashion stores and trendy bars of the Champs Elysées-inspired Avenida da Liberdade, which means that as a guest, you’re also minutes from the fabled mix of ancient sites and modern wonders that make the city of Lisbon so magical. Vincci Liberdade itself is also a stylish destination, opened just last year, and set in a converted historic building.
Each of the rooms is sleek, yet welcoming, jazzed up with soft blue and yellow hues, creative lighting and all the creature comforts you’re likely to need. Elsewhere, there’s plenty to lure you back after long days spent shopping, sightseeing and museum hopping. Relax with a cocktail or two on the hotel’s lovely terrace patio, order snacks from the bar, and hit the flagship à la carte restaurant, ÁGUA’, for classic Portuguese and Mediterranean gourmet cuisine that’s been given a contemporary twist of its own.
You’ll find a careful attention to detail in the 82 new guest rooms, all of which are sleek and glamorous. With all the fancy flourishes you’d expect at a four-star, the well-sized Standard Double room has a double bed, a flat-screen satellite TV, a swanky bathroom with a bathtub and bath amenities, complimentary Wi-Fi and plenty of mod cons. Most rooms come with a pretty balcony that overlooks the city.
Foodies will adore the flagship à la carte restaurant, ÁGUA’, for its top-notch Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisine, created with traditional, fresh and locally sourced ingredients. There are also a café-bar for coffee and cocktails, as well as a lovely terrace patio that’s perfect for relaxing with a glass or two of regional wine. Room service is available, too.
Just steps from Avenida da Liberdade, the hotel is smack-bang in the heart of the Portuguese capital. Must-dos include spending time at Berado Museum, with one of the world’s most acclaimed collections of modern art; taking the wrought-iron Santa Justa lift for incredible views of the skyline; climbing the Castle of São Jorge; strolling through Alfama; and visiting Terreiro do Paço – the largest and most iconic square in the city. We also recommend taking a tram ride, shopping your heart out in the elegant Chiado district and checking out iconic pieces from Phillipe Starck, Vivienne Westwood and Jean-Paul Gaultier at the Design and Fashion Museum (also known as MUDE).
How to Get There
We stayed for 7 nights in mid-October and would stay here again in a heartbeat. The hotel is tastefully designed and well-located. Our room was attractive, comfortable and quiet. Everyone on the staff was eager to please and spoke English. Breakfast buffet was wonderful.
We just came from our Portugal and Spain trip and this was one of the best hotels we had chosen. The area is centric and stylish, the rooms are nice and comfortable, and the price is not expensive for this level of quality. We totally recommend it.
They had excellent service and was located not too far from the city area. The bellboys were very active at serving us in terms of carrying our bags and catering to our needs. The room was also clean and beautifully decorated.
