The Lowdown

If you’re looking for a cultural fix in the Portuguese capital, look no further than this four-star designer sleep, boasting a super-central location. It’s set just steps from the high-end fashion stores and trendy bars of the Champs Elysées-inspired Avenida da Liberdade, which means that as a guest, you’re also minutes from the fabled mix of ancient sites and modern wonders that make the city of Lisbon so magical. Vincci Liberdade itself is also a stylish destination, opened just last year, and set in a converted historic building.
Each of the rooms is sleek, yet welcoming, jazzed up with soft blue and yellow hues, creative lighting and all the creature comforts you’re likely to need. Elsewhere, there’s plenty to lure you back after long days spent shopping, sightseeing and museum hopping. Relax with a cocktail or two on the hotel’s lovely terrace patio, order snacks from the bar, and hit the flagship à la carte restaurant, ÁGUA’, for classic Portuguese and Mediterranean gourmet cuisine that’s been given a contemporary twist of its own.

You’ll find a careful attention to detail in the 82 new guest rooms, all of which are sleek and glamorous. With all the fancy flourishes you’d expect at a four-star, the well-sized Standard Double room has a double bed, a flat-screen satellite TV, a swanky bathroom with a bathtub and bath amenities, complimentary Wi-Fi and plenty of mod cons. Most rooms come with a pretty balcony that overlooks the city.

Foodies will adore the flagship à la carte restaurant, ÁGUA’, for its top-notch Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisine, created with traditional, fresh and locally sourced ingredients. There are also a café-bar for coffee and cocktails, as well as a lovely terrace patio that’s perfect for relaxing with a glass or two of regional wine. Room service is available, too.

Just steps from Avenida da Liberdade, the hotel is smack-bang in the heart of the Portuguese capital. Must-dos include spending time at Berado Museum, with one of the world’s most acclaimed collections of modern art; taking the wrought-iron Santa Justa lift for incredible views of the skyline; climbing the Castle of São Jorge; strolling through Alfama; and visiting Terreiro do Paço – the largest and most iconic square in the city. We also recommend taking a tram ride, shopping your heart out in the elegant Chiado district and checking out iconic pieces from Phillipe Starck, Vivienne Westwood and Jean-Paul Gaultier at the Design and Fashion Museum (also known as MUDE).

Vincci to the rescue!

We stayed in the hotel as part of our honeymoon trip in Portugal, two days after the wedding. Once my husband laid down in the hotel bed at 7pm, he slept until 8am, missing out on the biggest party of the year in Lisbon - might be that he was exhausted OR that the hotel bed was really comfortable, which it definitely is. The rooms are modern in design, very clean, and the location is great for first time visitors to Lisbon. All those 5 star reviews are true, even though there is no gym or pool or spa amenities.
Next, the breakfast - it is a feast unto itself: a la carte option plus buffet, it fills you up for the rest of the day which you should spend exploring the city on foot.
Leisure time - the employees really make a difference! They arranged a welcome gift in the room, they booked us fado night and day tour at the very last notice and we had the best time, so do ask them for assistance to choose the right operator and the right tour!
Last, I forgot my mobile phone in the hotel, and they were prompt and kind enough to arrange its shipping to the other side of the world, so big THANK YOU to the team. We will stay with you any time we travel to Lisbon!

Central but quiet, ideal city break hotel.

The hotel is located about a 20 min walk from the heart of the city, along the Avenida da Liberdade. It is 5 mins to the Avenida metro station (downhill from the hotel) or 4 mins to the Marques de Pombal station (uphill from the hotel but the best one to arrive at with suitcases as it is down to the end of the road where the hotel sits, making it easier with wheeled cases! Easy 25 - 30 min connection on the metro from the airport with one change. Total Lisbon novice and we found it easy. The hotel: Very nice friendly staff throughout. Reception staff full of suggestions and ideas; great cooked breakfast which set us up for day. Have given it 5* because for the location I thought it was good value, well presented throughout and provided just what we needed. Smart room, slightly lacking in storage for all my wife's clothes, but REALLY comfy bed. There is a terrace at the back of the hotel, but it's a little soul-less and no view, so a roof terrace would have been nicer - but it isn't fair to pick on stuff like that. The hotel next door does have a roof top bar (which non residents can use) and an indoor pool, but that hotel would have been twice the price for us, so not an option. We would come back here again.

A great place for a short stay in Lisbon !...

I am a regular customer of this hotel. Both the service and location rank top. The staff is very professional and always ready to help. The continental breakfast is excellent with a large choice of goods, but you may also ask for an English breakfast. The rooms are always very clean and the beds are comfortable.
