How to Get There
We had a fabulous stay at this Carmo hotel. The boutique property is just around the corner of a lively square, with music, art or just to have a drink. Our room was a good size and had a view of the water. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. In the morning breakfast was very good and staff was very attentive. The best part is it’s location. It was central to most dining, shopping and other activities. Something you really appreciate in the hills of Lisbon.
The hotel sits on a beautiful plaza with constant activity: music day and night, arts fairs and political rallies by day. It’s also a block from the famed Santa Justa pedestrian elevator. The bed was the most comfortable of any on our trip. We got a decent rate on it, under $200/night net, by prepaying when we booked. In the immediate Chiado neighborhood are wonderful restaurants. Louder, later Bairro Alto is 5-10 minutes walk kind of uphill, and the waterfront market area is 10 minutes downhill. Really no need to take the elevator unless you would rather wait 25 minutes to get in a cage instead of walking 5 minutes uphill.
Spent one night when our flight was delayed to Cape Verde. Excellently located. Great food. Great service. Room fitted out to a good specification even have a defuser for hair dryer. Coffee in room is Nespresso pods. All different teas and complementary water.
