A city-center stay at a hip, contemporary hotel, including a welcome drink and more

The Lowdown

Lisbon is a beguiling city, uniquely spread over seven hills that look over the Tegus River. Here, magnificent monasteries and charming castles sit alongside modern museums and up-to-date art, while a lively shopping scene and vibrant nightlife complete the urban tableau. All this is intersected by tramways, cobblestone lanes and tree-lined streets, making for a truly attractive and captivating stay that easily explains why this city is fast topping traveler’s wishlists.
Hotel Santa Justa lies in the thick of it all, occupying a central yet quiet position in the heart of Lisbon, just a short walk from Santa Justa Lift. Providing the perfect base for your city stay, it boasts Lisbon landmarks just outside and cool, contemporary interiors inside (a choice mix that helped it nab a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award as one of the Top 25 Hotels in Portugal).
There’s also a stylish restaurant serving up fare complemented by a considered wine list. So, don’t worry if you’ve worn yourself out meandering between monasteries – you won’t have to go far for a decent dinner.

Superior Double rooms begin at 301 square feet and offer exterior views. Many of them have balconies from which to enjoy the city vistas, which include the nearby Santa Justa Lift, São Jorge Castle and the Carmo Convent Ruins.

The hotel’s restaurant is a contemporary space, offering a good variety of both Portuguese and international dishes. The menu includes salads, risotto and pasta, fish, meat and a small selection for children. The wine list offers nearly all of its wines by both the bottle and the glass, and includes ecologically grown options too. A buffet breakfast is served daily.

Hotel Santa Justa is situated in Lisbon’s center, within easy reach of the city’s cultural attractions. The airport is around a 17-minute drive away, the bay can be reached in just five minutes by taxi, and Rossio underground station is just a five-minute walk away. You can walk to the Santa Justa Lift in a couple of minutes, fast-tracking your way up the hill.

It was my first visit to Lisbon and the Santa Justa hotel was highly recommended to us. The hotel has more than lived up to its expectations. We were upgraded on arrival to a suite with a balcony and everyone at the hotel has been extremely attentive and nothing has been too much trouble ! Look no further if you are planning a visit to Lisbon stay at the hotel Santa Justa !

When I learned I would again attend the massive Web Summit tech conference in Lisbon, I immediately re-booked the Hotel Santa Justa. This time, I was traveling alone, as my wife felt that Lisbon three years running may be a bit overkill.

The rooms are relatively spacious and immaculate. The bathroom had a great shower and it too was pristine. The wifi was decent, but this time, not perfect. For some reason (GDPR?), I couldn't access my Twitter account on the hotel's free wifi. Most importantly Hotel Santa Justa is a 2-minute walk to the metro and within 15 minutes walking to the city's main shopping area and dining areas.

The front desk was exceptionally friendly, and their English impeccable (since my Portuguese is non-existent). I was treated to a free mini-bottle of Port wine, some chocolates, and a personalized welcome note. Other than the hawkers on the street trying to cajole you to an outdoor table for a meal, being "downtown" in Lisbon -- and at the Hotel Justa -- make visiting there so easy.

Wonderful hotel and great location

The room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the street. The bathroom was stocked so well with toiletries that they encouraged us to take samples home. The location is great for Rossio, Chiado/barrio alto, and allfama. We were delighted with our 2 night stay.

Hotel Santa Justa is perfectly located near museums, trains and buses and within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Front desk staff was helpful in suggesting and securing dinner reservations. Rooms are modern with amenities and quiet. Can't wait to go back to Lisbon.
