How to Get There
We had a very nice stay at Brown’s Central Hotel in Lisbon. We particularly loved the lobby set up and the super comfortable beds. The staff was polite and helpful, and the location was excellent.
The lobby/bar combo was comfortable and fun. We even chilled there when we got in from our red eye since our room wasn’t ready.
Decor and overall feel of the hotel is excellent - very trendy and boutique.
Cons of the stay - bathroom is teeny tiny. The room is small, but that was to be expected here (we booked a double), but the bathroom was difficult to function in. The shower didn’t have a proper ledge so the floor got wet even though we tried to be careful with it. We hated the weird wooden ladder in the bathroom that was used for the towels. Needs a real towel rack!
Also - the hotel still uses keys, and the door was very tricky at first.
Breakfast spread was not bad, but they presented the exact same food each morning without any variation whatsoever. The coffee/espresso self serve machines were awesome; I just wish they could have offered some variation in the breakfast - even just rotating a few items every other day.
Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel, but don’t recommend booking inclusive of breakfast if you will be there for more than 2 nights.
We had, as requested, a corner room on the upper floor and it was extremely comfortable. There was a complimentary bottle of delicious red wine to welcome us and as it was my birthday during the week, after a long day sightseeing in Sintra, we came home to a bottle of sparkly in an ice bucket and a little card. How thoughtful.
The location is excellent, the staff friendly and helpful, the room very comfortable especially the bedding. Wonderful huge shower cubicle with rain shower. Oh, and the towels..... changed every day.... big, white and fluffy and a proper rail to hang them on. Good body wash/hair gel and body lotion.
Good breakfast (get down early so as not to miss the chocolate cake) with plenty of choice.
Highly recommend this hotel and would happily be back there tomorrow.
8 of us spent two nights here to celebrate a 50th birthday. We were impressed by the hotel's stylish rooms and bar and the super helpful and friendly staff. Highlights include the great central location, wonderfully comfortable beds in a dark quiet room, iron and ironing board in every room, a Marshall speaker for your phone! and a very good breakfast. Minor quibble is not enough self service coffee and tea machines for breakfast. Thank you to all the staff at Brown's for making our stay special.
Browns is a great location to base your visit to Lisbon. The front desk staff were very helpful in recommending places to eat (excellent), tours and general information about getting around Lisbon. I unfortunately forgot my iPad at the hotel and they were kind enough to get is couriered to our next hotel in Porto. At the last minute our daughter joined us for a few days and the staff were able to upgrade us so we could all stay in the same room - fantastic. The rooms are quiet and the beds very comfortable. All the amenities were great.
We enjoyed 4 nights at this Hotel which was in an excellent location for exploring the old town. We found our room really comfortable, despite the fact that we had a king size bedframe with 2 single mattresses on it, these had a tendency to creep apart! Our only niggle with the room would be that the shower leaked copious amounts of water all over the floor and we had to use all of our towels to mop the bathroom floor up. We did have some faulty lighting in the room, however this was addressed very quickly and staff were both apologetic and very attentive.
The staff were always courteous with a kind word and are a credit to the hotel.
We would definitely come back!
