How to Get There
Approx 3 kilometres so you really need transport. The location is stunning. Very comforting if you have a young family. Spa facilities are small and a little dated but clean and friendly. All of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Sheraton claim this to be 5 star but they need to put a little more effort into training in a few areas that make it fall short. Stayed here a number of times over the last 10 years and would highly recommend it.
My partner and I stayed for 3 nights early December and were both delighted by our experience. The hotel is very spacious, and is set in beautiful grounds - it all felt beautifully tranquil.
The staff were all welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Service was excellent.
Our room was very large and well-equipped. There was plenty of storage space; the wardrobe included an ironing board and iron if you want to smooth out suitcase wrinkles from your clothes. A free safe was provided. The bed was fabulous - super kingsize and wonderfully comfortable. The kitchenette was modest, but fine for making drinks and simple breakfasts. Free tea and coffee sachets were provided. The maid service was great - everything well cleaned and supplies replenished.
We only ate once in the hotel - from the snack menu at the bar. Unsurprisingly, it wasn't cheap - but we both agreed that the 'Sheraton hamburger' was absolutely fantastic and definitely the best burger either of us had ever eaten.
The hotel is right out of town - a good 10 minute drive from the centre. There don't appear to be any other amenities in the locality (no shops, bars or restaurants). But the hotel offers a free shuttle service between 9am and 6pm to and from Cascais. We used this every day - it was great. The staff drivers were a useful source of local information, which we appreciated. We both liked the location - it felt lovely to return to this quiet place after a hectic day out and about. If you miss the cut-off time for an evening pickup, a taxi to the hotel from Cascais centre is only 7 euros.
We didn't use the outdoor pool - not in December! But we did use the spa facilities. There was a well-equipped gym, steam-room, sauna and small hydrotherapy pool (not large enough for swimming), plus a lounge area to relax. If you use the hydrotherapy pool, you are obliged to wear a swimming-cap, which you can either bring our purchase from the spa reception for 4.5 euros. A great place to unwind. When we visited it was pretty empty, although i'm sure it gets crowded in high season.
In all, I would highly recommend this hotel.
Beware there is no air conditioning in this hotel !!!!!! When I called to complain they told me to just open the window. Also the shower temp randomly shoots out cold and the boiling water . The hotel does have nice grounds tho.
Good enough says plenty. The resort itself is nice but the location is a bit far from the town centre and the seaside. Our room was nice, good enough for the 3 of us. The breakfast was good enough, the problem is we had the exact same breakfast for 4 days. That was too much. Overall, for the money we paid I believe there are better options.
The resort itself was beautiful, lush, and very big. There were some hiccups at check-in but the stay turned out to be a great one.
The check-in and welcome left mixed feelings. Although not crowded, I had to wait almost 10 minutes in line until the front desk agent decided to check me in. We also found out after we got to the room that we got the wrong bed type. However, we were upgraded to a suite thanks to my status and the hotel switched our room pretty fast. There were also very nice wine and tarts as welcome gift. Plus, the bell man on that date was super helpful by showing us to our rooms (twice) and running back and forth to get us keys (front desk did not activate keys to our new room). Overall, the welcome gift and the room escort were very nice but it was disappointing that the hotel failed the basics (waiting for Plats, not having the correct bed type). This is the reason I took 1 point off which would have been a 5 star review.
After this, the stay was really nice and comfortable. The suite was big and very nicely decorated, which made it felt very cozy and welcoming. There was a Nespresso and huge terrace looking out to the garden, which was beautiful. The bathroom was also big and nice. Beds were very comfortable.
Its a pity that there was not a lounge for Gold/Plat members and there was no extra benefits offered to make up for this. However, the breakfast was really good. The food, especially the fruits, were soooo fresh and tasty. There was also an orange squeezing machine where we could squeeze our own orang juice, which was super fresh and tasty. In addition, the espresso drinks offered in the restaurant was also very good. Last but not least, the restaurant was beautiful with really nice terrace looking out the big green garden.
The spa facilities were nice. It was too cold for pools but I enjoyed the sauna, steam room, and the Turkish bath. Only one downside here was that the men locker room looked rather old and dull, and the shower was not very clean, which is odd at a 5* facility.
