How to Get There
My stay at the JW Marriot was underwhelming possibly because I had high hopes.I got a 5th floor ocean view room( i think one of the lowest room floors). Traffic noise from the busy street below was very obvious. The view from the room was good although limited due to fog and haze. Room was big and comfortable. Coffee maker needs some research to operate but the coffee was really good. Location could not be better. Staff were very pleasant and restaurant service was outstanding.
The main issue I faced was that I booked the prepaid room in US Dollars 3 months in advance from the Marriot app. I was charged in soles 4 days before my stay which was more in USD (about 10% more on the room rate even after the 10% service tax) than the rate I booked. After several conversations and conflicting information from staff, my bank (Chase) was blamed for giving me a bad conversion rate. After staying in 8 good hotels in Peru, this is the only hotel where I faced this discrepancy between the quoted rate in USD and actual USD rate charged to the credit card. I am truly surprised by this experience even though its not a lot of extra money. I would look for other hotel options during future visits.
Nice location, shopping, restaurants, walking, jogging, gym, rooms with ocean view. Wonderful people: Claudia, Monica, Varena, Ivan, Fabiola, Gianella, Diego, Almendra, Melissa, Valentina, MariaFrenanda, Heinz. The food in the lounge and the hotel restaurant is great!
I visit Lima frequently in business and most of the times stay at the JW. When I made my reservation I was skeptical because the web page advised of construction in the hotel. I kept my reservation expecting some disruption. To my surprise, the JW management made the construction/remodeling transparent to guests. Nothing was visible on the entry level of the hotel and I received the standard great service. I have been to many hotels where ongoing construction is so disruptive that it discourages guests from coming back once work is complete. Good job maintaining your great service during ongoing construction.
What a great hotel! Seems brand new and is in a great location across from the ocean. Rooms are nice and spacious, and the views are fantastic. Bathroom is big with a nice, high-end glass shower.
Staff is really friendly and accommodating. My Platinum status was well recognized. (Thank you for that). The executive lounge is incredible; the views are great and it serves essentially full meals 3x per day.
I highly recommend.
I went back and forth on staying at the Belmond Miraflores Park in Lima or the JW Marriott Lima and I am SO happy that I ended up booking the JW! This hotel was PERFECT and everything we wanted for the last leg of our Machu Picchu trip!
Comfortable, clean, great restaurants + room service and the front desk attendant (Gonzales- so sorry if I got the name wrong) truly made our check in process amazing.
Go with the JW Lima - you won't regret it.
