How to Get There
We were staying in the hotel with my girlfriends on weekend and found everything perfect. Friendly and very good educated staff, art suit with 2 bathrooms and library, complement shampaign. Great roof bar
with beautiful views of Rome. Hotel is located in the city center so it's just few minutes walking to all main attractions.
Location, location, location! This hotel was not only in a great spot for all major sight seeing but also for dining and shopping. All major atractions were no more than 20-30 minutes walking distance. Which if you ask me is perfect for appreciating Rome’s spectacular architecture. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. The room was not only clean and well kept, but the bed and bedding were very comfortable. I loved the blackout curtains which are perfect when you are trying to adjust to time difference. This is hotel pays close attention to detail, leaving personalized notes almost on a daily. I totally recommend this hotel for anyone traveling alone or in pairs/groups.
This is a boutique hotel near the Piazza del Popolo. The junior suite was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a bath with a very nice shower.
The staff was excellent and was very attentive. They made excellent recommendations and reservations for dinner.
There were two issues I had with the hotel: 1) was the air conditioning and 2) noise at night.
The cooling/heating system was an all or nothing option. Rome was unseasonably warm. When I arrived the heating system was on and the room was 25c or 77 degrees. Because the air was not on, the only way to cool the Rome was to open the window. At night the window could not remain open because of the noise from a service courtyard. After 2 days, I complained that this system was unacceptable and they turned on the air conditioning, which also helped with the noise issue.
Unfortunately my last night they again turned on the heating system. To me in a 5 star hotel it’s fundamental that you ought to be able to control the temperature in your own room. Not being able to, is not an option.
I have been travelling to Rome for work and travel regularly over the last 18 years. Due to a fortunate relocation of our Rome office, I was booked to stay at the First. We were greeted by the lovely Anna - who literally could not do enough for us. Complementary prosecco for me and cappuccino for my fiance, as well as an upgrade to a suite instantly put us at ease. This is a boutique hotel with 29 rooms, it's artistic, cosy and once you hit the higher floors - has an unexpected and gorgeous view over the rooftops of room. Our room was fabulous, we had homemade shortbread treats on our arrival, Aqua di Parma products in the bathrooms and free bottled water. Result!! We also asked Anna for a hotel recommendation and Mr Fiance didn't make it easy for her. After very specific (some would say challenging) requirements - Anna found us a gorgeous restaurant (which I'll review separately) which was utterly fabulous. The room is lovely, bed comfortable and the shower is perfect. The next morning, they opened the gym early for me and I watched the sun rise over Rome from my treadmill. Two floors up is the breakfast room, come cocktail bar/restaurant at night which has a billion dollar view. The breakfast buffet and a la carte menu was delicious. If you can't tell - I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It's such a delightful find that we are heading back there at the end of the month.
Had a beautiful suite with everything you would need. Only downside was that the noise from the terrace came down to our room. We figured out if we closed the double doors just beyond our door, it was nice and quiet. Staff was wonderful. Very helpful and had great recommendations for lunch and dinner. Great location. Nice walk to so many things but on a quiet street. Breakfast on the terrace level was spectacular! Hope to get back to Rome soon and will stay there again.
