How to Get There
We stayed here for 3 nights in April. The rooms were clean with twin beds. Clean linen and towels.
The room itself is very small, however if you are like us and don't spend much time in the hotel, as you like to go out and explore then it's not a problem.
Breakfast buffet was included in the price and had a decent selection of food. It is one of the better breakfast buffets we have had, due to the selection. The homemade cakes available were tasty.
Overall the hotel was fine. It is quite a distance to the central areas, however we enjoy walking around and seeing new sights.
My husband and I were visiting Rome for our anniversary for a long weekend Friday to Monday. Our private travel agent booked it for us. we got to the hotel after a long morning of travelling around 1:15pm and couldn’t get into the room until 2pm so we’re able to leave our bags and go for a wander for a while until 2pm. The biggest issue was that we were on the ground floor right next to reception in room 4.
On entering the room it stunk of damp and when using the shower it literally took 15 minutes to heat up so I had two cold showers and left the water running the third morning for 15 minutes and it was still like warm when showering. The shower leaked across the floor and the doors didn’t shut properly. The light in the room was awful with an ‘ambience’ type effect but this is pointless when you need decent light to see to put make up on or such and the only mirror in the bedroom was on the back of the door with the least amount of light. The bathroom obviously had a mirror but this was steamed up after the shower running so long and wet everywhere. After a tiring days travelling and exploring we then could not sleep as the phones were ringing throughout the night on reception and the staff were talking and noisy. I even heard whistling at 12pm! It felt like it was right outside our bedroom door. Second night wasn’t as noisy but last night was the same. Had we have stayed longer I would have asked to be moved.
Everything else about the hotel is good enough for a short stay and the staff and friendly and helpful it was just being on the ground floor. I wouldn’t say steer clear of the hotel but just ask not to be on the ground floor by reception. Bear in mind the walk is around 20/30 minutes to get into the centre, however being next to the termini made transfers very easy.
The Smooth Hotel, Rome Termini has several things going for it. A good breakfast to get you going. A nice bar to relax in in the evening, and a fantastic staff! A shout out to Alfier (spelling might not be right) Leone. What a terrific manager. Every problem, and they always arrive, he solved. We hope to be back in his care soon! Great value for the Euro.
