How to Get There
Location within walking distance of all major sights of Rome. A haven from the tourist bustle outside. Priced beyond most of our budgets but worthwhile stretching for a special occasion. The courtyard and terrace are wonderful for relaxing dining while temperatures are not too high.
Hotel de Russie is a wonderful hotel. It is in a great central location with beautiful decor and friendly and efficient staff. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was of a high standard. It is well equipped with a spa and gym.
We take an annual trip in February without our small children and always end up somewhere in Europe. This was our second trip to Rome (first stayed at the Portrait and LOVED it but wanted to try something different). I book through AMEX Fine Hotels and Resorts - we are almost always upgraded, especially at this time of year since it's not considered a touristy time. Upon check in, upgrade was not mentioned. I asked about it and the employee first told me they were fully booked (a quick check on the hotel website showed this was a lie as every category of room was available...). I assume a manager behind him caught wind of the conversation and quickly "found" an available room which was one category up from the one I had booked. Pretty room but on a low floor and directly across the hall from a service closet where you could hear every dish being crashed about at all times of the day. The next night, I went downstairs to talk to the same manager who checked us in. He was beyond kind and helpful. We headed to dinner and then followed up with him after - he had us moved to a gorgeous room over looking the courtyard garden. He was apologetic and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our stay. It was fabulous! We also loved sitting outside and having a drink and aperitivo before dinner. The concierge also had great recommendations for dinners. Very charming hotel and staff! Would love to come again.
This past Christmas was my family's 3rd time staying at Hotel de Russie! We absolutely love it and can't imagine staying anywhere else in Rome. Everything is utterly perfect at this hotel. The staff is the friendliest and most helpful that I've encountered, and the property itself is picture perfect. It is located in the most convenient location with shopping literally steps away, and sights just a few blocks down. Piazza del Popolo is right there in front of the hotel with a variety of restaurants to choose from too. If choosing to eat at the hotel, the Stravinskij bar is super quick and easy- and delicious! The bar offers delicious food and drinks, we actually ate here most nights because of how good it was! We ate at Le Jardin de Russie for Christmas and New Years Eve dinner, and we couldn't have asked for more perfect meals. I cannot rave enough about this hotel and I can't wait to hopefully come back this summer. Staying at Hotel de Russie makes visiting Rome that much more magical.
Absolute perfection! Impeccable on everything! The example of how a historic hotel can combine luxury in all its facets and be modern, updated to today's times. I stayed for a weekend with my little 8 year old daughter and the treatment was beyond all imagined expectation. The hotel manager, Mr. De Martino, always present during the days of our stay, welcomed us, giving us a very warm welcome and immediately putting us at ease. George, manager in the Food & Beverage departments, continued giving us, with all his professionalism and passion, an unforgettable weekend! Excellent breakfast staff and the offer of food that is offered, really compliments ... excellent drinks at the bar, always attentive and helpful reception.
