Overview

Intimate six-room retreat on the banks of the Tiber, a 15-minute stroll from the Spanish Steps

The Lowdown

On the banks of the Tiber, a short stroll from the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona, Luxury on the River is a characterful crash pad with just six guestrooms. The minimalist interiors are offset by antique furniture, plush velvet couches and colorful artworks. Lofty ceilings and huge picture windows keep things light and bright. The six guestrooms feature putty-colored walls, ash-gray wood floors and leather-look padded headboards, and the bathrooms feature chunky bowl sinks. The spacious Junior Suites are split-level and overlook the river, and the Executive Room has a Jacuzzi tub. There’s no restaurant, but the small breakfast room is a light-flooded spot overlooking the Tiber, with a crackling fireplace and shelves stuffed with books.

In the Area

This city is made for strolling. Walks along the river and to the Vatican, including St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, are all within easy reach of the hotel. Located in the Flaminia neighborhood, the MAXXI museum houses contemporary art in a stunning building designed by Zaha Hadid. The lively Trastevere neighborhood, a hotbed of bars, nightlife and restaurants, is a 30-minute walk. Splurge at the gourmet Glass Hosteria, helmed by noted chef Cristina Bowerman. If you want to venture a little farther, head an hour northeast from Rome to explore Tivoli’s UNESCO-approved Villa d’ Este gardens.

Short Break in Rome
Dawn P

We arrived at around 3 on Sunday Afternoon . Airport transfer man had trouble locating then just dropped us on sidewalk. We had difficulty getting inside but eventually found where we had to be. Man on reception was a little confused and asked us when we had booked causing us to panic but then located our paperwork so all was ok. Room was small but comfortable was bit disappointed with the view which was just a load of dirty buildings no view of River. Met Beatrice next morning and she was wonderful and had lots in common with my Daughter. Breakfast was lovely service was excellent. Would definitely stay again we had a fantastic stay in Rome Thank you.

PLEASANT STAY
LISALITE

By the Tiber, this apartment hotel has been restored very well. The rooms and the bathrooms are elegantly furnished; the bed was very comfortable, the shower, with a large head hooked on the ceiling, very comfy.
Staff very helpful and discrete.
Breakfast ok.
Needs better daily maintenance (the bathroom door handle slipped off and remained in my hand, the shower glass door needs to be fixed).
A pleasant stay.

Stayed at Luxury on the River for 3 nights from 14th-17th September in a double room with a jetted tub! Lovely room, comfy beds, breakfast was basic but yummy! (We particularly enjoyed the cappuccino and chocolate croissants!) fab host and great location! Would definitely stay again!
