Overview

Intimate six-room retreat on the banks of the Tiber, a 15-minute stroll from the Spanish Steps

The Lowdown

On the banks of the Tiber, a short stroll from the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona, Luxury on the River is a characterful crash pad with just six guestrooms. The minimalist interiors are offset by antique furniture, plush velvet couches and colorful artworks. Lofty ceilings and huge picture windows keep things light and bright. The six guestrooms feature putty-colored walls, ash-gray wood floors and leather-look padded headboards, and the bathrooms feature chunky bowl sinks. The spacious Junior Suites are split-level and overlook the river, and the Executive Room has a Jacuzzi tub. There’s no restaurant, but the small breakfast room is a light-flooded spot overlooking the Tiber, with a crackling fireplace and shelves stuffed with books.

In the Area

This city is made for strolling. Walks along the river and to the Vatican, including St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, are all within easy reach of the hotel. Located in the Flaminia neighborhood, the MAXXI museum houses contemporary art in a stunning building designed by Zaha Hadid. The lively Trastevere neighborhood, a hotbed of bars, nightlife and restaurants, is a 30-minute walk. Splurge at the gourmet Glass Hosteria, helmed by noted chef Cristina Bowerman. If you want to venture a little farther, head an hour northeast from Rome to explore Tivoli’s UNESCO-approved Villa d’ Este gardens.

Beautiful stay
Reviewed 1 week ago

Stayed here with my girlfiend for her birthday weekend, Beatrice was fabulous so friendly and helpful upon our arrival. She gave us some really good tips for our visit which really helped! Breakfast was great! Fresh out of the oven chocolate or plain croissants were a particular hihglight and a really good spread to start the day. Will definitely stay here again!

Top notch

Lovely stay at Luxury on the River beautiful room and upgrade which was a nice surprise. Beatrice was so helpful beyond and above what I would except at any hotel, but the feeling that it was a intimate place to stay was really good. Good for all the sights never more than a 30 minute walk to most of the sights of Rome. Will stay again loved Rome and Luxury on the River.

City centre Roman hotel.

Quite simply this has been a sanctuary of calm in a sea of bustle and noise. Beatrice and Leoni have both been unbelievably helpful all week long. They have both gone out of their way to help organise us from getting us from the airport late at night to making sure we’ve had all our event and attraction tickets purchased and ready every day. Our room has been perfectly clean and tidy from Monday to Saturday and it’s been comfortable too. This is a bed and breakfast only hotel so don’t expect a massive range in the morning but it’s fresh every day and ready on time too. We had a bit of work going on outside one morning for about ten minutes but otherwise it’s been very peaceful whenever we’ve been in our room or chatting with Leoni or Beatrice in the day. They are both lovely people and so patient with everyone no matter what the demands placed on them. I can not fault this hotel or the team at all. Perfect, thank you so very much for a great week! No photos, as each room is unique so that’s another plus point!

Absolutely loved my stay in this hotel! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Beatrice, she is such a doll! Super sweet and so helpful, she lets you know all the helpful info you need when exploring the city! The breakfast is awesome and they are so attentive, making you a delicious coffee of choice every single morning! The hotel is In a perfect location, walking distance to everything, rooms are clean and very trendy hotel! Will recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome. This was my second time visiting Rome and I can honestly say I enjoyed it more than the first time!

Gretate place but very poor breakfast

The place is very well maintained, the location is out of the crowded area, but only 10 minutes walking. Thas boutique hotel so they use only a few appartments at the building. Dont expect any help with your bags and nothing like a big hotel...There is a great restaurant at the next door so if you are tired at the end of the day you can get your diner na go to bed.
