Overview

Intimate six-room retreat on the banks of the Tiber, a 15-minute stroll from the Spanish Steps

The Lowdown

On the banks of the Tiber, a short stroll from the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona, Luxury on the River is a characterful crash pad with just six guestrooms. The minimalist interiors are offset by antique furniture, plush velvet couches and colorful artworks. Lofty ceilings and huge picture windows keep things light and bright. The six guestrooms feature putty-colored walls, ash-gray wood floors and leather-look padded headboards, and the bathrooms feature chunky bowl sinks. The spacious Junior Suites are split-level and overlook the river, and the Executive Room has a Jacuzzi tub. There’s no restaurant, but the small breakfast room is a light-flooded spot overlooking the Tiber, with a crackling fireplace and shelves stuffed with books.

In the Area

This city is made for strolling. Walks along the river and to the Vatican, including St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, are all within easy reach of the hotel. Located in the Flaminia neighborhood, the MAXXI museum houses contemporary art in a stunning building designed by Zaha Hadid. The lively Trastevere neighborhood, a hotbed of bars, nightlife and restaurants, is a 30-minute walk. Splurge at the gourmet Glass Hosteria, helmed by noted chef Cristina Bowerman. If you want to venture a little farther, head an hour northeast from Rome to explore Tivoli’s UNESCO-approved Villa d’ Este gardens.

Can't fault our stay here . After being delayed on the train and knowing that we would not make checking by 4pm I email Beatrice quite a few time. She Gave us directions on how to enter the building and our room via security codes .I later found out this was her only day off and with all the help Beatrice gave us booking Tickets for tours and just general local information makes it worth while staying here just from that type of service . The location was central to a lot of attractions and the hop on hop of bus stop. There was a great variety of restaurants , shops and convenience stores all in walking distance. Our Room was very comfortable and very clean and serviced everyday . Breakfast was a top start to the day.A great selection of continental fair.Being welcomed by a very respectful waiter who greeted us with a good morning madam and sir which is very unusual these days. Then offering us an expresso or cappuccino and making sure that I was told that ladies are first when being served our excellent cappuccino every morning. So don't take my word for it find out for yourself .

Thank you to Beatrice and all the staff we had a perfect stay. Beatrice was a ray of sunshine from the moment we arrived until we left. Thank you for providing such a fabulous selection of gluten free products for breakfast. The hotel is very central for everywhere and the map from Beatrice was so helpful. We had a fabulous romantic break celebrating our wedding anniversary xx

After our Cruise we stayed in Rome at the Luxury on the river for few days. What a lovely place to stay in! The receptionist Beatrice was so welcoming and helpful. She explained everything to us and booked all the trips we needed. The apartment we were given was beautiful and luxurious. The location of the hotel is amazing as it is a walking distance from lots of places to see. I recommend it to any visitor and will definitely stay there soon .

Five Night Stay at Luxury on the River
Reviewed 1 month ago

We stayed here for five nights before returning on our homeward journey, Beatrice was very informative, and gave us a lot of information about the places to go and eat, shop and explore.

The apartments were clean, we stayed in the junior suite, which was spacious, fresh robes and slippers with clean towels everyday and the room was cleaned and bed made everyday. The bed was very comfortable and there was a mini bar and the TV which had a lot of variety and English speaking channels.

Very close to everything, a short walk to the Vatican, Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain, the maps did say about 15 minute walk to each however you are mesmerized by the buildings and shops that it seems a lot less.

Breakfast was nice with the typical Italian breakfast and a waiter/waitress to make you a coffee in the morning.

The only negative (which is very minimal) was the noise, we were a young couple who were out until 11pm some nights, and there were a family staying opposite us which the rooms did say sound proof however this was not the case. Sometimes they would have conversations around 9-10pm outside our door to which I would just close the adjacent door in the hall which connected our rooms and they were apologetic. That was the only downfall when we were trying to have a sleep in, I am not sure if the other rooms were the same it could have been just as our bed was right near the door which was next to the hallway.

All in all it was a great place to stay and would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to stay in the best place in rome!
