How to Get There
This is a lovely elegant hotel in the city centre. They provide a really excellent breakfast to prepare you for a long day of sightseeing. The hotel is perfectly well situated for exploring the sights and for evenings out in the Trastevere area.
The hotel entrance hides its size and beauty.
If you don't expect a beach resort with a swimming pool, the staff (most of it), cleanliness and decor will pleasantly surprise you.
This would get probably 3-4 stars. Beds could be improved greatly and the rooms are small but clean, and you cannot expect to have huge rooms in such a crowded city.
Most of the staff were very helpful, except for one blond fellow that seemed always upset at the front desk. I wish I could remember the name of the other fellow, always kind and helpful. Our impression was that in Rome "Se habla Español" but not so much English. At the reception they did though, even Mohammed, the door man, who taught us some Italian.
This is probably the biggest advantage of the hotel. You're a through stone from the Tiber river (although not a view of it), close to the Jewish Ghetto, not far from many locations, such as the Hadrian/Saint Angelo Museum and from there lots of monuments and museums. DON'T rent a car in Rome if you can walk. Once you're in the center most of it is easily walkable.
Just buy the breakfast. For 15 Euros you will have an excellent buffet, superb attention, a cozy, quiet place before you begin your long walks.
Go to the 5th floor to sit at the terrace and see the rooftops of Rome and perhaps the Tiber river.
A third of them are nice. The rest are crooks. Avoid them as the plague. Use Uber.
Great location! Just across the Ponte Sisto Bridge from the Trastevere area, which offers lots of dining, shopping, and nightlife. We loved the location, which seemed to be centralized to all the historical attractions in Rome. We walked everywhere during our one week stay, and we really enjoyed our stay. We opted for the included breakfast buffet option, which was delicious and well worth the extra cost. The restaurant staff was terrific, and they were very easy to communicate with in English (our Italian was extremely limited). Our room was quiet and only a few steps from the elevator and stairs on the 3rd floor. The TV in our room was small, but we never turned it on, so it did not matter to us. The water pressure in the shower was amazing! All the hotel staff was absolutely terrific, and we would definitely stay here again if we return to Rome. As as added bonus, the Gelato establishment directly across the hotel entrance is one of the best in Rome. This area is very popular, especially on the weekends, but we slept soundly.
Stayed in the Grand View Suite for 4 nights. Hotel staff was pleasant, breakfast was good. We had several rooms booked for other family members and the hotel was very accommodating to all of them (many of them travelling abroad for the first time with rudimentary questions that the hotel was happy to help with). Living room in suite was quite small, however the terrace was enormous. Bedroom had a rather firm memory foam mattress which was fine, but there was limited shelving in the closets. Bathroom looked to be recently renovated however there was no stall shower and the tub was not enclosed at all, making showering with the wand without spraying water everywhere difficult. A/C was not turned on due to time of year and it was warm enough that we had to sleep with the windows open which was noisy. Overall we were very pleased with the staff and were ok with the room.
Stayed earlier this month for my sons birthday. Hotel is down a side street opposite the Ponti Sisto Bridge. Unassuming entrance hides a wonderful hotel. Reception staff were courteous and efficient answering any queries and checking our shuttle details on pick up day. Beautiful inner courtyard and wonderful roof terrace - you would never guess from outside that they were here. Hotel is spotless and we found fairly quiet (considering earlier reviews). Only noise came from a few guests in the court yard having a late night drink. We are on holiday! Breakfast was great with lovely bacon, eggs, mushrooms and beans with an array of delicious fruits, cereals, pastries etc.All continually topped up by an army of friendly, efficient staff.( A special effort was made for my sons 21st birthday.) Well done to the Restaurant Manager. Perfectly located for sightseeing and a hidden gem. Only negatives were rooms a little small and bar quite expensive. However, this hotel is now our definate option to stay next time we are in Rome -soon I hope.
