How to Get There
I booked this hotel as a surprise weekend break for my husband’s birthday through Secret Escapes and so had a good discount.
As the weather was so lovely, we walked to the hotel from the train station. This took around 20 minutes and was a nice walk.
Upon arrival the concierge greeted us and reception were quick at booking us in. Our room was on the 6th floor and was a nice size and very clean. I had emailed the hotel in advance and they had left a complimentary bottle of prosecco in the room with a small cake, which was a lovely gesture.
We found it a good location for exploring. We caught a taxi to the Vatican & back on the first day but the second day we walked from the hotel to the colosseum (about 25/ 30 mins) then onto pantheon, piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and Spanish steps. We walked what felt like many miles but it was so worth it! As we saw so many other beautiful things in between the main attractions.
Breakfast was nice but the service wasn’t too great. They seemed to take a long time to see us to a table and then we weren’t offered tea or coffee. I had to keep trying to get someone’s attention to try to order some. Considering it was quite quiet this was a bit disappointing. It was mainly continental style; ham, cheese, salad, yogurt, fruit and then bacon and boiled eggs. There was a selection of fresh juice, water and bubbles!
Check out was very easy and reception called us a taxi to take us to the airport.
All in all I would recommend this hotel. It was very clean, most of the staff friendly and we had a very pleasant stay.
The hotel had a nice design and the staff was very friendly and helpful. There was no problem for a late checkout and room service was available.
The location of the hotel seemed to be nice (Spanish stairs etc was closed by) but for the evening we always spend the nights a bit more far. Of course there were restaurants in the same neighborhood but for bars and more opportunities you drive by cab around 15 min. For a start of sightseeing it’s absolutely good.
We had a deluxe superior room which was exactly like the pics with a nice terrace but I hoped and expected more space, it’s was pretty small. Besides the size the room had what you needed, hairdryer, big shower, tv (wasn’t working good but who needs it), bathrobes...
Nice hotel, good location, friendly stuff, small rooms, breakfast ok.
Via Veneto is a fun street to be on. It has some nice restaurants and has a famous past with its connection to the movie, La Dolce Vita. Piazza Barberini is just a gentle stroll down the hill and Spanish Steps just around the corner along with Villa Borghese and Porta Pinciana. The hotel has a pleasant lobby and attentive staff but you will love the bar/breakfast room with its elegant wall paintings of sophisticates dressed in 1920s/30s style. Try to find the lady with the cigarette poking out of her mouth. Funny. The hotel gave us a complimentary glass of prosecco when we arrived. Rooms vary but most are very good, but being a boutique hotel, there are a few that are quirky and smaller. Ours was lovely, large with a sitting room and cool Italian furniture.
