How to Get There
I'm a demanding person when it comes to hotels (check my other reviews), especially when it comes to noise.
I chose the Aurelius based on the reviews I saw on the Internet and for the price I really wasn't disappointed.
This hotel was by far the calmest I've ever visited so far. In fact, it's the only one in which I haven't been annoyed by neighbours' continuous banging.
I don't know if I was lucky to reside alone in this hotel, but it was totally booked on my dates if I trust the website.
The room was bigger than I expected, the bathroom was comfortable and spacious and the environment was beautiful (check my picture for the view from the balcony).
There was a plate of courtesy with coffee and tea and a water boiler.
The hotel is conviently remote from Rome, in a calm residential area. Despite being in proximity with a noisy road, when on the inside side, we don't hear anything.
The breakfast was cheap (6€/pers.) and really worth it for this price.
The only things I disliked are that the room was very hot and the AC wasn't working, although I could open the balcony, but I was afraid that people from other room would sneak in (its actually a staircase). And also, the lack of free bottles of water, but there's a mini market open late nearby with cheap bottles to compensate.
The attractions are like 20 minutes away by metro (5mn walk to the station nearby).
If I was to come back to Rome, I'd definitely pick the Aurelius, unless the attractions I want are on the other side of the city.
We made reservation for 2 bed room but got a double bed one.
The toilet seat is cheap and smaller than the ceramic body. One of the double showers was leaking and in the 2nd floor the water pressure is not strong enough to run both.
The windows looks at a damaged house.
The room carpet was filthy.
Breakfast is good. The hotel is 7 minutes away from the subway station. There are minimarkets nearby and a good restaurent. A shopping mall is one subway station away.
The hotel smells old. I would not necessarily choose it again.
A great hotel-excellent decor-great staff and really good breakfast. The standard of room cleaning is very impressive. The area is busy-our room was at the back of the hotel and we experienced no traffic noise. The hotel is only a short walk from a metro station and very conveniently placed to access the attractions. The metro is cheap and the traffic ns are frequent.
We would like to mention Renata, and Luca on reception as being particularly helpful.u
My room is exactly the picture above first class every way that count. spacious suite, very clean, elegance at it best. The hotel itself is like a museum marble floors through out beautiful roman statues, elegant furnitures that would be located in a palace. Breakfast was delicious. Location of hotel is excellent, I didn't have to take a taxi. I flew to Rome from Frankfurt and took the train from the airport Hotel Aurelius is located only 2 cross street from the train station. there's several wonderful cozy restaurant nearby where I ate dinner the prices were very reasonable. I was able to visit Rome without a tour guide. I ventured around on the train visiting the various historical places Colosseo; Basilica Di Massenzio; Plazzza Novona; Palatino and various monuments. I traveled there April 2015
I am a return customer for the past 3 years now — Whenever I come from Gaeta, I use this hotel to unwind before the flight from Fiumicino. On every visit, Renata welcomes me like an old friend, and remembers everything! I chose this hotel because it is beautiful and the owner staffs the place exceedingly well. Ehab in the breakfast room is also a welcoming face who keeps upbeat. Alenjra was the hotel clerk/agent who assisted my booking (in english) and made sure I got the room I requested. I’ll keep coming back for impeccable friendly service, year-after-year.
