Gilded Sin City temple to Italy complete with gondolas, a celeb-studded pool scene, and tons of shopping
Italian romance meets Vegas glitz at the Strip's prized Venetian. The marble, all-suite pampering palace buzzes with high rollers, L.A. socialites and suburban escapees, all seeking fabulous accommodations surrounded by endless action. With over 4,000 suites, 19 restaurants, 80 shops, a 120,000-square-foot mega-casino—and, of course, its own canals for gondola rides—this re-creation of the famed Italian city somehow unites the opposing forces of quantity and quality. These suites are luxurious but not over-the-top, and the Italian theme is fun and whimsical but not to the point of cheesiness. They start at 650 square feet, which allows for plush furnishings in sunken living rooms and marble baths with a tub and separate glass-encased shower. The best touch, however, is the LCD TV in the bathroom so you can catch up on your soaps while you're soaping up before a night on the Strip. But why leave? The hotel supplies the full Vegas experience: 19 restaurants, one of the Strip's largest and most elegant casinos, a Canyon Ranch spa, swimming pools, the 21-plus TAO Beach beach club for the party set (open seasonally) and great entertainment options like Rock of Ages and Human Nature. And there are also more than enough ways to max your credit card with 160 luxury stores and boutiques, from Diane von Furstenberg to Chloe, Christian Louboutin to Tory Burch.
In the Area
The hardest choice you'll make while here may be where to eat dinner. Sample the creations of James Beard Award-winning chefs like Thomas Keller, Emeril Lagasse and Tom Moloney at any of the resort's fine-dining headliners. Commune with the ghosts of Vegas past with a visit to the Neon Boneyard, a collection of Sin City's old glowing signs. Away from the glitz, you can take a heart-pounding zipline ride over Nevada's stunning Bootlet Canyon with Flightlinez.
