The best central location on the Strip, in the heart of the Vegas action
The first casino to seriously embrace poker still has one of the city’s best poker rooms
The hot party at 16,000-square-foot 1OAK and the very cool indoor/outdoor Rhumbar with cigars and tropical drinks
What To Know
The swimming pool complex is very nice, but the adults-only Bare Pool Lounge charges fees for both ladies and guys
A resort fee per night will be collected at the property upon check-in
The hourly erupting volcano show always draws a big influx of non-guest tourists into the lobby and main casino area, so it’s best to view this on your way out to someplace else

The original Vegas mega-casino with a pyrotechnic show, zoo, and one of the Strip’s best party scenes
With windows splashed with gold dust, a pyrotechnic volcano light show and a high-stakes poker room, The Mirage is quintessential Vegas. Despite its vast scale, it manages to maintain an air of intimacy, starting in the check-in area, which is separated from the main casino by an atrium jungle. Crossing flowing streams and walking through lush foliage instantly transports you off the busy boulevard and into a luxe oasis. You can very easily pass a delightfully busy weekend here without ever leaving the resort thanks to shows like Cirque du Soleil’s The Beatles LOVE and ventriloquist Terry Fator and the family-friendly Secret Garden of Siegfried & Roy, an open-air landscaped zoo with rare white tigers, panthers and leopards as well as a dolphin-swimming complex. Or forget the family and hightail it to the European (read: topless) Bare Pool Lounge, lined by posh daybeds and cabanas. After dark, New York transplant 1OAK nightclub is one of the hottest parties on the Strip with 16,000 square feet of lounges, dance floors and state-of-the-art sound systems. The Mirage doesn’t rely on celeb chefs to anchor its restaurants, but that doesn’t mean they’re not delicious—just a little lower-profile. Choose between sushi at Japonais, neo American at STACK, and the meatfest of the Samba Brazilian steakhouse. For a quick but decadent bite try the Las Vegas incarnation of the Carnegie Deli or go for a big burger and spiked milkshake at BLT Burger.
In the Area
Imported from New Zealand, Minus5° Ice Bar is entirely made of ice—even the stools and glasses. You don a fur coat or parka, Russian hat and gloves, and enjoy ice cold cocktails and an arctic experience. Seen enough poker on TV? Ready to give it a try? The Mirage hosts daily buy-in poker tournaments twice a day. Easily the best golf course in Vegas, Shadow Creek is open only to guests of MGM Resorts hotels (including the Mirage), and those fees include round-trip limo transfers and a caddie. Illuminate Vegas's retro roots with a trip to the Neon Graveyard, the resting place of the city's flashy signs.
