How to Get There
Stayed in 1 bedroom suite and it is very spacious and fully loaded with pretty much everything you need. Their service is very good with smiling faces around and willing to help.
Location: Excellent. Right next to Gandola and with lot of options to explore from here.
Room: Clean, Very spacious and real value for money with great amenities.
Price: Good on the pocket for members
Service: Very good. They organize activities and the staff are very friendly.
Parking: Vallet parking available. Reasonable price.
Overall, the property is in a good location with good service, nice rooms, good views, and light on the pocket. Highly recommended in South Lake Tahoe.
We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite (3252) and the patio was extremely large. This unit overlooks the main area of the village and the gondolas. Excellent spot to listen to the bands in the evening. Room was large enough for 6 people. My kids enjoyed sleeping on the day beds. Fully stocked kitchen with two large bathrooms. This is a great spot for families or those that want to be centrally located to the village and/or shops and restaurants.
Great restaurants, mini golf, gondola, live music, shopping, movie theater, show hall, art galleries, bike rental, in the court yard. Heated pool, spa, indoor table top shuffle board and outdoor life sized chess board. Casinos within half mile. This would be the PERFECT place to spend several days with family and get some rooms close together. Suite was like an apartment, fireplace, with a full kitchen - complete with all dishes and utensils, full refrigerstor, coffee pot, stove, oven, blender, toaster, even a crock pot! . It would be great for an active couple or family that wants to spend several days and hike and be outside, but be warned. All activities are expensive. Gondola was $50 each just to ride. But the "sled roller coaster" is DEFINITELY on the menu for the next trip! There were lots of off season activities on the mountain as well. Water taxi was expensure too. Casinos were worthless. No fun, no winning. The arcade in Harveys was the best part of the casino, but several of the machines were hogged by people that didn't leave for more than an hour or the machines didn't work. Night life for families should consist of playing board games in your spacious rooms in front of the fireplace and leaving the Strip to drunk bachelorette parties. All said, we LOVED LOVED LOVED this resort!
Stayed for 4 nights with the family in July. Booked at short notice after cancelling a trip to Yosemite. Overall a great family hotel. Kids loved the pool/hot tubs and the activities that they provided (crafts, cookies, ice cream Sunday making etc). Well located with a bars and restaurants nearby and a short walk to the lake (beach passes provided on request).
So all good, but....from the moment the lift door opened onto the 3rd floor there was something in the air that irritated my nose and throat. I was the only one in our party of four that was affected by this but it was so bad that I didn’t sleep for the first night and then only slept after that as I was so tired. I complained to reception and they sent up an ioniser but this only marginally improved the issue. I don’t suffer with any allergies and normally I’m not sensitive to anything like this. Also stayed in 5 other hotels on this 2 week trip and didn’t get issues anywhere else. I also didn’t get an issue in reception or anywhere on the ground floor. For me this spoilt an otherwise great stay for the family.
Scores well for amenities, staff, location etc but I personally wouldn’t stay there again for this issue. However, kids would stay there every night of the week.
My family just returned from a 3-night stay at Grand Residence. We had rooms 3400/3402 adjoining rooms which make up the 2 bedroom suite. We loved the location right under the gondola and right above where the bands play! But if you go to bed early or like to sleep in late, this won't be the room for you. The gondola starts at 7:00am and the noise from below dies down about 10:30pm. We felt like we were at the center of all the activity, which we enjoyed.
However, the A/C in room 3402 wasn't working and the maintenance guy wasn't able to fix it, which made sleeping in that room uncomfortable. And there were not enough pillows, blankets and sheets for the pull out beds in the room. Also, one of the wooden blinds got stuck and was very difficult to raise and lower. For close to $600 per night, I would have expected more. Plus, after paying $583, this did not include daily housekeeping! So garbage was piling in bags in the corner, and we were trying to dry towels everywhere! They don't offer beach towels, so we had to bring our bathroom towels to the beach which left us short on bathroom towels. My daughter tried asking a housekeeper for a towel, but the housekeeper didn't speak English. I just discovered a $150 charge after checking out, and called the hotel. I was told this was a charge for requested housekeeping. We never requested or received housekeeping, so I can only assume this was from the request for towels which was misunderstood -- but we never received ANY housekeeping.
We did love our trip, for the most part. I would have given a better rating had we had the A/C working, or if the room rate wasn't so high.
