How to Get There
We come every year - February, March and April to this resort for the past 17 years ! We love it here. The resort is right at the Heavenly gondola and we love the village, pools and all the places to eat and hang out when not on the Heavenly mountain skiing ! We look forward every year to come back !!! :)
The reason why the rating is not more than 3 stars is the room location combined with holiday weekend = disappointment due to the excessive noise.
Pros: Staff is very pleasant. The facility is situated in the center of Heavenly Village, making eateries, Lakeside Beach and Van Sickle Hiking Trails steps away. Live music at a number of the eateries. We especially enjoyed Azul Latin Kitchen. To enjoy a more quiet meal, head down to Scusa, a wonderful Italian restaurant a couple of miles away. Having a grocery store (Raley's) right across the street is a plus. Pool and hot tubs are very clean and pleasant.
Cons: We arrived midway through the Labor Day holiday weekend. Very busy in the Village and in the byway behind the Residences (eateries, live music, bungee jumping and mini-golf). Though we are Chairman's Level (weeks and point) MVC members, we were assigned a room 3116, part of a lockdown two bedroom that had a balcony and overlooked the byway. No mention of the possible evening noise level in this room. We are early-to-bed people. If you plan on gong to bed before 11:00 a.m., think twice about staying in this room. You cannot keep the noise out by closing the door leading to the balcony. It's worse during weekend evenings. Staff suggested we should have asked for a "quiet" area well ahead of the date of arrival and we would have been accommodated. A word to the wise - contact the Residence team as soon as you make your reservations to have a chance at a peaceful stay.
We were looking for a great place to stay for our anniversary in South Lake Tahoe. We could not have been better served at any other lodging in the whole area ( we checked!). The rooms were great, the staff superb ( could not do enough for you) , daily dancing lessons optional as well as pool, big gym, large comfortable lobby, wonderful spa( and massages) with movie theatre, grocery, restaurants, bars and shops right next door.4 casinos were one block away, if desired.
