How to Get There
The Belsfield Hotel, located on the bank of Lake Windermere, if a lovely hotel with good facilities and very helpful, friendly staff.
We all know the weather on the Lakes can be trying (no such thing as bad weather, just wrong clothes for the weather) but this hotel and its prime location allow you to sit and overlook the lake during the changing conditions.
We loved our stay, nice room, good food and well stocked bar!
We stayed at The Belsfield for a couple of days for my Birthday. The Hotel is in a prime position right opposite the pier for boats and cruises. The repception staff were very helpful and we were upgraded which from the bedroom overlooked the lake a great view. This is a grand old building with mature grounds. The first meal we ate in the resturant and had a lovely meal. The breakfast was a cold buffet or order something off the menu. The staff were very friendly especially the reception lady that went out of her way to organise my wife to see somebody for she had got a festering on one of her fingures, she rung the hospital out emergencey and they fitted us in excellent service.
We were looked after though out our stay icluding our cleanig lady well done to all.
There are a few areas that need some maintenance attention as you would expect with a old building
Stayed at The Belsfield for my husbands birthday. Hotel is in a prime location right next to the pier for the lake cruises. A grand old building set in beautiful grounds. When there is a wedding booked, it can get very busy. We ate at the Brasserie on a half board basis. Lovely food, especially the cheese soufflé 😋
Go to breakfast early and sit in the bay window for views over the lake, or upgrade to lake view room. We stayed in a Classic room which was warm, clean and comfortable.
All members of staff were friendly and welcoming, despite being busy. Would visit again and next time book a lake view room
We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded and there were chocolates and a card waiting for us. We had food both in the brasserie and the restaurant both of which were superb. Breakfast was vast with lots of choice. The whole hotel is exquisite but what makes it is the staff. They were all friendly and efficient and couldn't do enough for guests. I would definitely recommend to anyone. Get a room with a view if you can it makes the whole trip.
My wife and I have just had a long weekend here. The check in was a really nice experience and they insisted that they take our bags to our room for us, a nice start. The hotel itself is a wonderful old building that has been restored and fitted out with Laura Ashley furnishings so is to a high standard. We had a lake view room that was a generous size and well decorated with everything you could need, tea, coffee, biscuits, tissues, toiletries and a jar of sweets. The bathroom was great with underfloor heating and a rainfall shower. A nice touch was a removable shower attachment for hair washing etc. acomplemented by modern fittings and a large heated towel rail. A handy nightlight was a nice touch so no fumbling around in the dark in the early hours. The meals were good quality and server by the most attentive staff I have met. Service throuought the hotel was faultless. With this being a listed building most of the windows are sash so do rattle in high winds but a simple piece of tissue wedged in soon cured that. The only slight minus was that the bathroom extraction system could not be turned off so it could be a little noisy at night unless you close the bathroom door all the time. If you want a nice experience, give it a try. Not the cheapest place we have stayed but by far the best.
