How to Get There
Firstly the location is simply perfect for for a stay in Bowness on Windermere. It's a high quality hotel (rather than B&B) and the decor was fabulous and pretty much immaculate. Mostly the staff were friendly and helpful.
However (sorry, there's always a 'however' isn't there) be aware "Classic Double Rooms" don't have great views of anything - we didn't expect a lake view, we know you had to pay £30 extra for that, but even so our view was drab to say the least. We did politely ask for an alternative room and were shown two others, but they weren't much better. We weren't pushing for a free upgarde, but to be honest with such low occupancy (Sunday night in November, about 10 couples at breakfast Monday morning) it wouldn't have hurt. The room itself was fine, and warm, but didn't feel like the Windermere experience. It didn't spoil our short break - but would we stay again? Not convinced at thoeir prices.
Just spent three nights here in a corner suite (room 40). It’s an excellent hotel, fully deserving of its rating. As might be expected, it is well furnished and kept in good repair. It’s a mixture of old and new buildings.
Our suite had two rooms, two televisions, and a good view over the lake. About half the rooms have a lake view. We were not troubled by night noise, either externally or internally.
It’s in a good location, the Windermere ferries and bus services are within easy walking distance via the extensive gardens.
The hotel has plenty of staff, all spoke good English and the standard of service could not be faulted.
We would certainly consider coming here again.
Decided to visit the Belsfiled for a one night stay, as we have seen the hotel on nuerous visits to The Lakes..Such a warm welcoming hotel. All staff we so pleasant and helpfull..The room was small but cosy with everything you needed..The bars area was quiet even though there was a wedding at the hotel..You wouldn't have known ...Great selection of drinks..The restaurant served superb food, but lacked atmosphere as there were only another 4 people there that evening...All others appeared to eat in the Bistro..One thing....We had booked through Secret Escapes, which offered DDB but were told we had to pay a £15 supplement to eat there !!!!!.. NOT made clear on the booking site....This didn't stop us from enjoying a superb evening meal..Breakfast was just as good....Overall a really good stay and would love to return for a longer break...Thanks to all the staff for their friendliness...
