How to Get There
This is our second time staying at this hotel and it was just as good if not better than the first. There are a lot of very negative reviews about the hotel and the country as a whole, but in my opinion you can't go far wrong with this place.
Check in was fast and efficient which is what you want when you've been travelling for 15-16 hours.
The rooms do have a musty smell when you first go in but this is due to the fact this country has high humidity at this time of year and the air-con is on in the rooms but people leave open the balcony doors etc. The smell soon disappears (nose blind). The rooms are large with a massive double bed (not 2 singles pushed together), a restocked mini-bar, a spirits dispenser, and coffee making facilities. They are cleaned daily and then there's a turn down service in the evenings. The bathroom has twin basins and a large walk in shower with shower gel provided. Sleeping is good as it's nice and quiet at night and the walls must be thick as we never heard our neighbours once in a 2 week stay.
Restaurants. there are 4 specialist and a large buffet, all serving very good well prepared and presented food. Breakfast is in the main buffet restaurant with plenty to choose from, our adopted waiter Juan Pablo would have our table ready every morning with a big beaming smile. Lunch was in the outside buffet restaurant that double's as specialty restaurants in the evening (Italian, and Steakhouse), again we had an adopted waiter Acquino who looked after us. The selection here was excellent and varied.
Bars, we were there in August and the waiting time at the bar is minimal, there are also waiters everywhere so you don't even need to go to the bar. Drinks are good although they don't stock all of the international brands. The bar staff are really friendly and you'll find they already have your drinks prepared before you even ask for them. Big shout outs to Virgilio, Bermudez, Mieses and Raul who are along with all the others very good at making you feel welcome. In the evening we were looked after by the main bar man Adony who as soon as I entered shouted Jim Beam and coke (don't know why??), and the main waiter Reyes, both along with the rest very good.
Pool and beach area, beautiful beach with soft powdery sand, there is see weed early on but the teams of sweepers are there all day clearing it away, the pool area is large and kept very clean and tidy, both areas have masses of sun loungers and it's such a pleasure to go down to breakfast before getting your beds, there's no 6am dash for beds here, you'll even still get a bali bed as late as mid afternoon on occasion.
Entertainers, they make your holiday what it is, they make you feel like you've known them for years, the days are filled with fun and laughter. Huge thanks to Robert, Gregory, Rudy, Yunior, Jeffrey, Yeli, Chillindrina, and Pavarotti hope I haven't missed anyone.
All in all a fantastic holiday made by the people that work very hard to ensure you have a great time.
Thanks to you all, and we'll see you all again in 2020
I came to visit this time with a group of 15 friends and on the first night of my stay my room was robbed of all $400 of cash AS WELL AS my debit card. I immediately went to the front desk where they essentially only told me that they would “investigate” the situation and never got back to me. At the time of the report, he confirmed with us there were 3 people he knew had access to the room and that they were forbidden to enter rooms that had a “do not disturb sign” on. A few days later I continued to ask management and they only told me my option was to go to the police and file a report but I would never be able to receive a refund as it was “my word against theirs” I continued to ask them to attempt to make it right by compensating me even just a massage and they told me no... I lost all my money to get back to the US and they didn’t care a single bit. FURTHERMORE I found 3 nights later another employee entered the room and stole all of my jewelry. The hotel again, stated it was impossible to enter the room when we have photos showing our “do not disturb” sign was there and they proceeded to come in and rob us again. There is employees walking around the hotel smiling and then stealing your items and management allows it to happen because “there are no cameras facing rooms” They are setting up for guests to be robbed and not being held accountable at all. The first manager claimed that it was one of 3 employees that he needed to “talk with” and a separate manager claimed it was impossible for an employee to enter the room with a “do not disturb sign.” Everyone gives you the runaround and there’s no justice at all whatsoever. The end story is that I had to file 2 separate claims and will never see my cash, card or jewelry returned.. I have spent thousands of dollars on this trip only to be robbed by the employees. It’s EMBARRASSING how unprofessional and sad this hotel is. I WANT JUSTICE FROM THIS SITUATION other than blasting it on social media so others can be warned about how terrible and disgusting this hotel is. I am genuinely very sad for the thousands of dollars spent on this trip just to come and be robbed of all of my cash, card and most prized possessions. No one sympathized with me or ever apologized.
Fantastic hotel! This hotel had fantastic food, I was thankful that there was so many options. We tried all the restaurants and they were superb. The setting was lovely and there was loads of entertainment daily. With this particular hotel you could go into some of the other hotels which was a nice option to have a change of scenery. All the staff was lovely and couldn't do enough to help! The cons of the hotel was the swimming pool needed cleaning but this was because of how many trees there was which attracted a lot of bugs. Also there were a lot of people bothering you on the beach to buy things however this is something the hotel can't stop as it is a public beach. We did the dolphin experience which was amazing and COCO bongos! Both worth doing!
I would definitely recommend and go again!
