March break 2019

Upon arrival our room was what we exepected however the view from our balcony was a fence and another building, we were not pleased, after visiting with the front desk at the Rui Macao the changed our room on day 2 for building 4 room 3421,it was in line with what we had reserved for the view we wanted, giving the. Opportunity to rent the same room for March break 2020 we would be willing to book the same room right away

Lovely Hotel and holiday
Reviewed 2 days ago

Had fantastic lovely holiday.
Resort clean, poolside activities if you want to join in. Lots of choices for food.
All staff really friendly. Really liked the private part of the beach under palm trees.
Couple of recommendations for the hotel to review to male holiday more luxurious;
Mattresses for sun beds would be a welcome addition especially for those of us with bad backs !!
Install some form of extraction system from the 'smokers area outside bar as we had to walk through the smoke to get to our room otherwise we had to go the long way round!!
Overall, if you are thinking of coming here, just book it, you will have a lovely holiday.

Average, should be a lot better

Stayed for 9 days, the pools and beach are very good, the food is just average for this type of resort, they basically have the same lunch buffet eaverday. The dinner buffet is better than the restaurants, there should be a higher quality of food at the restaurants.
The smokers are everywhere at the pools and it is hard to find an up wind location, I suggest to have dedicated areas including the lobby bar for the smokers,

This resort is gorgeous. We (wife and I) stayed in a Junior Suite Deluxe Superior (Room 3418) from March 16-23 2019. The room came with a king size bed, ample closet and dresser space, a large walk in shower, small bathroom - toilet only, large double sinks with mirrors, hair dryer etc. Towels (3) replaced daily. Lovely bath robes. Very large balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean. Room comes with 4 bottles of alcohol. There is a small refrigerator that is stocked with beer, water and carbonated drinks. There is always clean drinking water available somewhere.

The supply of hot water is excellent (an issue on a recent trip to Cuba). Beach towel exchange is staffed most of the day and there was never an issue of running out of beach towels.

Service was excellent. Large selection of very good food at every meal.

Adult only resort. Guests tended to be older - lacked some energy you might find at other resorts (no beach volleyball games or pool games etc.). Less noisy ... no loud thumping beach music (if that's your thing, you might be bored).

Lots of beach chairs available on a well shaded beach (palm trees provide the shade).

I enjoy snorkeling and shelling (collecting shells). This beach has no shells (or rocks) - just sand. The water was silty - not good for snorkeling - the only disappointment on this trip.

Overall, this was one of the best vacations we have had. If we go again, I will take some day excursions to find snorkeling adventure somewhere else on the island.

Girl's Getaway

Overall I would rate this resort a 4/10. The room was the worst part. It smelled like mildew, half of the outlets did not work, they have liquor in the room but its cheap liquor we didn't drink it, the housekeeping came in at night (please make note of this.. place do not disturb on your door anytime you leave)... we also met others in the room and they also asked us about our room smelling like mildew because they were having the same issue.
Staff : super friendly at most locations and we enjoyed them but I will say most employees also live at the resort so please be aware of your surroundings as they are will try to flirt to take you back to there room
Age Group: was mostly older couples who just stared at the younger adults in disgust as they enjoyed there vacation but don't let snobby people ruin your stay!
Food : Breakfast was great (buffet / omelet station / cooked to order eggs), Japanese restaurant was closed all week.. disappointing. Steakhouse was the best but the lobster was way overcooked, Italian was ok but not the best food & the staff was super rude, Buffet for dinner was disgusting we left and went to the steakhouse a 2nd time.

Pools were always cleaned and quiet. No spring breakers no kids which is great you can just relax. People hold spots at the pool but never come but you can easily move there items as you are not allowed to hold spots. Beach was pretty! we did not like how we got harassed & tried to sell shows and other items all day at the beach & some come on the resort.
