This adult only resort is one of 5 That Riu runs side by side. The accommodation is pretty average but well attended, breakfast delivered to order and free in room drinks make it luxurious for the limited time you spend there. You can eat in the large and cosmopolitan buffet offering that has something for everyone. You can however eat in one of the speciality restaurants [Fish, Grill, Sushi or Italian] every night if you want to where the setting, service, food and beverages are just amazing and at no extra cost. The resort, pool and service is fantastic and all situated right on a beach which is that added bit of paradise with Palm trees, soft sand and the Caribbean sea almost joining to the Atlantic. You can nip into the adjoining resorts and even eat in some of them as part of your all inclusive package. There is also a free Aqua Park which is great for All ages. I could not have asked for more from this TUI holiday it was such a fantastic holiday for my wife and I which went beyond our expectations in so many ways. Add to this the trips on offer to exotic islands and Whale spotting and the dream holiday just gets better. Thank you to all the staff and TUI for providing it.
We travel several times a year first time to the DR normally I list the Pro's & Cons's however I must say I have no Con's from the time we checked in and David at the front desk was there to greet us it was like we were home, Danny & David at the lobby were amazing and very friendly the whole entertainment staff were great and very involved even the towel boy Edwin was terrific the food was very good and yes the steak & lobster were all included meet some of the most wonderful people from all over the world and yes we would for sure go back to this wonderful place !!!
My wife and I have just returned from 2 weeks at this wonderful hotel. It is probably the best holiday we have ever had.
The flight over was ok and we were through immigration very quickly. The coach to the hotel was about 45 minutes. Check in was quick and we were in our room within 20 minutes. What a great room. Middle floor right under the Riu sign facing the pools and the beach. What a great view! Big room, plenty of drawer and cupboard space, separate basins and huge shower, large bed. Of course there was a safe, fridge and 4 optics on the wall and the air con worked perfectly. The room was kept spotless everyday. Sheets were changed daily and towels were given on demand. There was a turn down service every night and the fridge was kept fully stocked.
The food here is something else. Breakfast had all you ever want. Full English, continental, pancakes, waffles, cereals. Truly if you cannot find something then stay at home. Lunch was in a separate building (which housed the Italian and steakhouse in the evenings) and had snacks as well as salads and full meals. Dinner was something else. Different themed nights including Caribbean, International and Gala meant a variety of food every night. Loads of different salads, seafood, vegetables and pork and beef. I cannot think of anyone I know who would not have found something decent to eat. The pastry/dessert chef turned out the most amazing and delicious puddings and there was a variety of fresh fruit and ice cream just in case. The service was great and we would list to thank Billy and Noël from the main restaurant. We also ate at the Italian, Japanese and the Steakhouse which were ok. We did not eat at the Krystal but heard it was good
The beach is fantastic. Loads of Palm trees for shade and plenty of beds. A few people were still up early booking beds but we went down most days at 10 and never had an issue. Thanks to Elvis for the bar service on the beach. The sea was not rough and is roped off to protect you from boats. There was a lot of sea weed on our last day but that is not the fault of the hotel and there were mini diggers clearing it up as the tide dumped it on the beach. We also swam in one of the larger pools which was as warm as a bath. We did go on 2 trips. One to the capital and the other was to visit a local family home to learn how the locals live. Also learnt about the "car wash" on this trip. Sorry you will need to go on the trip to find out what happens there!
Truly there is something for everyone at this hotel. There is a water park about a ten minute walk away for those of us " older" kids, a disco at the entrance gate, a small casino and the usual entertainment at night. There are also games and the animation team do a great job if this is your bag. I am not fond of the pool party afternoons but as I have said this hotel caters for everyone. Apart from these events which only last an hour and a bit in the late afternoon on 3 days this place is peaceful and quiet.
There is also a very nice coffee shop, terrace and lobby bar which we also utilised. Service in these was also excellent and the barman in the lobby bar deserves special thanks. The smoking did not bother us and neither of us are smokers.
To sum up. Great holiday and we will be back next year. Final thanks to Manny in reception who sorted out a toilet flushing issue for us after a few problems!
We spent 2 weeks in this RIU resort and, if we go back to Punta Cana, that is where we will stay again. The staff is great and so is the food. As for the resort, we loved the location and its configuration. Thank you for this awesome stay and we hope to see you in not too far of a future.
