Beautiful resort, wonderful restaurants, amazing shows and a service staff that is beyond belief. Stayed at the Garden Hotel which is a smaller, quieter area located at the resort. There are two restaurants, magnificent pool, swim up bar and outside bar which has food for lunch. The restaurants- Capers and Trattoria - located in this area are exceptional... they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also have an outdoor brick oven for making pizzas which were delicious. The wait staff in Trattoria were friendly and professional....Maria the hostess always had a smile on her face and greeted everyone with such warmth. Cristain, Wander and Silvio along with Julio the Manager, were extremely attentive and took care of all our needs in a pleasant manner. The rooms are maintained and there was a jacuzzi on our balcony. Bathroom has a walk in shower which is a nice feature and the toilet area is in a separate area. I went with 3 other people and ALL of them want to return next year. I travel extensively and would not hesitate to return to Now Larimar.

We stayed in a swim up room at the Garden side of Now Larimar. We had an excellent time! We are in our mid 50'2 and enjoyed the quieter side. Close to the swim up bar and it was nice having our own lounge chairs if we didn't feel like being social!

Overall, it was a great vacation and we will probably go back.

The pros:
The staff are incredible and made our stay excellent. This was the case everywhere we went; check in and out, buffet, pool, beach, Castaway, Coco café, à la carte restaurants, the bars and in the lounge
Special mentions for staff that made our trip special: Modesto!!!!!, Fraudy, Heldy, Daniel, Juan F, Fernando, Bernardo, Angelita, Santa, Charina, Carmen, Armando and Santa at the Carnival buffet; Ramon at the Blue Water Grill, Cely who greeted us at the buffet, all of the staff at Coco Café, but particularly Nery and Maria G; Felix in the preferred lounge and Caesar; Ramon at Tamarindo; and Caty at the Sand Bar.

The hotel does a really nice job recognizing guests who are returning to the resort. We had a “Welcome Back” sign on our room door and balloons and fruit plate.

Our room was always clean (shout out to the house keeping staff) and when we had an issue with our safe (the battery needed to be replaced), someone came to fix it as soon as we called.

The food was very good everywhere we ate and we always found something that we liked. The Castaway was nice for a more formal lunch and mostly for its location (along the beach) but the buffet was fine for us on most days.

The beach and pools are very nice. We had no issues getting a spot in the shade at the beach but we are there early (8ish am). We were in the preferred areas this year (never thought I would say that…😊) but the reserved beach area and pools were extra nice for us. There were some kids but less than in the general areas on the beach and we noticed that there was a lot less traffic and noise (for those who like to read and relax). I was very surprised to see that people would make it to the beach or pool past 10:00, and there were still plenty of shade spots. I also found it good that the staff would be around to help people find a spot, set up and also ensure that guests had all they needed. We also enjoyed spending time at the smaller preferred pool during our stay.

Not sure if it was because of our schedule, the set up, or if the hotel was not busy but we did not feel crowded anywhere (beach, pool, restaurants, buffet or gym) and that was great. We noticed a few more weddings onsite this year.

The cons:
For this section it is probably safe to say that everyone’s expectations differ but for us:
our room needed to be renovated. Some of the furniture and fixtures were “tired” (toilet, sink, doors). We also felt that the entertainment in the early evening could be more varied. The musicians were excellent, but they were there frequently during our stay.

In conclusion:
We would not hesitate to go back since the people/staff play such a large role in an enjoyable trip and at Now Larimar, the staff working there are mostly incredible and seem to enjoy working there.

On a side note: we travelled with Costco Vacations for a second year in a row and we are pleased to report that the onsite support provided by Blue was much better than last year; Emma was excellent. Good to know: you might see that the trip comes with $200 US of Hotel credits but to get it you either have to push or attend an unlimited vacation presentation. We have never used the hotel credits.

Another good trip to DR

Annual trip with friend to DR and we chose this property based on location and cost. Our first room was in the garden section. The service at first was not impressive. The view was non existent. Garden view would’ve been fine but all we could see was rooftop of near building and tree leaves mostly blocking view of anything. No robes and slippers as should’ve been. Asked for extra luggage rack and never got one.
Decided to try the preferred upgrade. Maybe cause we were in garden section? Didn’t really get preferred service so asked to get moved to that section. It was a standard preferred room. Nicer view for sure. Good location as far as proximity to beach and restaurants. Right in the middle. We were in 1200 section. Enjoyed some of the preferred amenities but not sure the added cost is worth it. All of the service was great whether preferred or not. You should expect great service. It was nice to have the preferred lounge area for coffee and snacks without dealing with much of a crowd. The pools were better because they are quieter in my opinion. I don’t like the busy main pools at any resort frankly. You did have to get out early to reserve a spot if you wanted one though because it got rather full and hard to find chairs for two together after 9 am. Not unique to this place necessarily but seemed a little worse than other places I’ve been.
Bar service at any of the bars whether on beach at pool or inside resort was great.
Rooms were clean. However didn’t get linen service one day and had to call three times and wait over an hour for towels so could shower and get to dinner. Caused us to be later than wanted for dinner.
Dinner- tried all but one of the a la carte restaurants and I’d pick mercure as my favorite. My friend would pick ocean grill. Both very good. Capers good too. Least favorite was tamarindo and buffet. Never made it to spice so can’t comment. Service good at all of them. Food was ok. Have had better at other AI resorts for sure but we were able to find plenty to eat.
We were so pleased with the non motorized water activities and made use of the hobie cats several times. Marcus is the man!! Now our friend. He was a great instructor and captain and definitely why we went for multiple rides and enjoyed it so much.
We opted to parasail and had a great time doing that too. Marcus hooked us up with a great team for that too.
Took a day trip to saona island on the vip catamaran and speed boat. Great day!
Warnes was supposed to be our butler for the week but we didn’t really see the value. Nice guy but I wouldn’t brag about that service because we didn’t get it. Too bad cause that would be nice touch if they actually did it. He never told us there was free shuttle to shopping. Just overall no value in butler so disappointed in that.
Adjacent to secrets but we never got there to check that out.
Overall I’d recommend this property for sure. The grounds are beautiful. The service and people are great. Beach is great. Pools are great.
We had a rough start to our week but it turned out to be another great trip to DR and now stats on the list of properties I’d go back to.

Amazing Customer Service!

My wife and I have traveled all over the Caribbean over the past eight years and have encountered the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to experiences. Now Larimar rates at the top of the GOOD list. In addition to the beautiful beach and incredible views, their customer service is as good as it gets. From check-in until the end of our week, our personal concierge Samuel made us feel extremely welcome and attended to any need we may have. Throughout the week, we had five star service on the beach and by the pool from Luis and Francis. They stay on top of any drink or food needs you may have to ensure a pleasurable time. Overall, I recommend this resort 100%.
