How to Get There
This place was an okay location to stay at. I would only Recommend if you are able to book it at a reasonable price. In the end I felt I overpaid due to the following occurrences. #1 when we checked in, we were given a sheet with our room and noticed it was scratched out and written with a new room number. So we head to the room and come to find the bathroom was not clean. There was a red dry liquid all over the seat that also looked sticky in the light. I told the hotel guy that was in the hall and he sent housekeeping to take a look. After 2 housekeepers came at separate occasions it was taken care of. There was also a strong sewer smell on our bathroom which I pointed out to the hallway guy and housekeeping. Their solution was to spray air freshener. This was a bandaid solution because come night time and the rest of the time there we could smell it. We had to maintain the bathroom door completely closed.
#2 the walls are very thin. You can hear employees yelling and walking through the hallways super early in the morning. It was hard to sleep in due to this. #3 the service at the restaurants was below average. We ate at the Buffett and “seafood” restaurant (only had 2-3 dishes that included seafood) and had poor service. They will not offer refreshments after being seated like one would expect. Even at that our last day, at the breakfast buffet, I flipped my coffee cup up as a sign I would like coffee which they have their waiters pour. I sat there for a good 10 mins and no one offered me coffee even though they saw my cup and no other refreshment. I finally stopped one of the waiters and asked for coffee. He said sure and that he’d be right back. 20 mins pasted and nothing. Finally I got up and served myself my own damn coffee from the machine. I had no problem tipping and had brought money along just for that but i hardly used it because of the overall service I received. The food is very bland and repetitive. Not a lot of options to choose either for snacking. The Bites snack bar only offers slider burgers, hot dog, and French fries. that gets tiring when it’s the only close thing available around the pool areas when you are having it day after day. #4 drinks at the bar were more of a miss than a hit. On several occasions, they did not have the ingredients to make the drinks listed on their menu. If it’s all inclusive and they are offered on their menu, I think the way the manage the amount of ingredients on hand is wayyyy off. Examples are I asked on different occasions for mojitos and I’d get hit back with oh we ran out of mint so we can’t make it. Or ask for a michelada oh sorry we don’t have Clamato. Daiquiris super sweet with minimal liquor. Presidente beer was good; they did have that on tap but having beer the whole time isn’t ideal for me. #5 water park was fun. Pools are all 4ft deep minus one so it was nice I didn’t have to worry about my older kids not being able to enjoy them. Only complaint was having my younger kid carrying the inner tubes to go down the slides up the high flight of stairs. Maybe have some up there for the younger kids who are not as strong to get them up there? #6 checkout’ I highly suggest u head to checkout with time if you are crunched for time. We luckily had a few hours to spare after checking out. The checkout process took a good 50 mins. This was due to long line with only one hotel staff person performing the checkouts. Also had people in the line cut in front of others.... some good line system would really benefit them to prevent this. #7 our phone would be ringing off the hook with the solicitation to come meet them for a “free breakfast” I had politely declined and mentioned I was there to strictly have a good time with my kids and just relax. Yet on one day we got a call at 7:15am...
Overall this is an average place to stay at. If your looking for quality food and drinks and excellent service this isn’t for you. I went with these expectations due to the high positive reviews. I’d like to also mention I am not a super picky person when traveling. I can usually roll with the punches on inconveniences here and there but this trip I felt like it was everyday one thing after another.
We stayed at Grand Memories Splash Diamond Club and I have never wanted to go back to a resort so much JUST TO SEE THE PEOPLE! Everyone was amazing but especially our butler Edwin. We will definitely be back. The resort was clean and what a fun place with evening events, water park and access to the beach through Avery nearby Royalton. Edwin, Yermey and so many others were fantastic, fun and very aware of what we were doing and what we needed. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and had champagne, cake and fruit plates delivered. They went above and beyond leaving us a “Happy Anniversary “ sign in the room. We literally felt at home!!!
Thank you for the AMAZING service and experience!! We will be back!
Stayed for 2 weeks with children age 5 and 8. Excellent family holiday, the Al la carte restaurants are all amazing they are better in the royalton our faves were Zen Italian and Steak house. The pools are great. The entertainment was excellent every night something for everyone and plenty to do all day. The vibe team are excellent every one of them are always happy and making sure everyone is having a good time, I didn't catch all their names but they were all superb, the names I remember were Darwins Gasolina Lola Pablo Luis Rigul but the whole vibe team were excellent and really made the holiday. Roman Fulgo the bar man and waiter at the activity pool was such a gentlemen very friendly always making sure we were ok and if we needed anything, and always made the effort to say hello very friendly man who works very hard, and we loved his party drink by bringing drinks on his bike while balancing a beer on his head. Reinaldo at the selections buffet was a real help too be booked all our restaurants and was always very helpful with any other questions or queries we had. Roberto who works for Nexus was very helpful and we booked our trips through him. all the staff here make this place great. From cleaners to bar men waiters to the kids club team gardeners. The gardens are so beautiful here and make this place look absolutely fantastic the gardeners don't get enough credit they work so hard in this heat all day and they do a fantastic job. The water park is great for all the family lots of slides to enjoy. Our best family vacation yet. We will definitely be back
The customer service is amazing!!! The hotel is beautiful. The staff at Grand Memories Splash is so nice but especially "Ramon Fuego" OMG!!! He is awesome!!! Domingo and Jose in the pool bar. Henry at the buffet, he is the #1 cook!. I have 3 children (17, 11 and 5 years old) and the hotel always had some activity from them. This hotel win more the 5 stars. We are planning to go back soon.
First and foremost I would like thank the wonderful staff at Grand Memories Splash for making our 2019 family vacation an incredible one, from our server shot outs to Jose Luis Ozoria who served us at Mexicana Cantina as well as Selection (buffet) he made sure that all our needs were met, my husband loved having conversations with him as well hands down if you go here please look for him he is #1. I would also like to thank the vibeteam (Pablo and Darwins) for all the great entertainment we had night and day it was just awesome, never a dull moment. Everyone there were just amazing people. We did come across some snags here and there #1 the two female bartenders at the swim up bar Maria and Isabelle were very unpleasant to deal with they did not help us at all they would just ignore me and my sister in-law I thought it was just a female thing, but they did the same thing to my husband they just did not want to help us which made it a little uncomfortable. #2 Danelly from Nexus who we booked our dolphin excursion did not set up the package correctly which caused a big inconvenience when we got to Dolphin Discovery. Even with those two bad experiences I still give this resort 5 stars because the good outweighs the bad.
