How to Get There
This is our second visit to the Majestic Colonial and we had an even better time this year. We upgraded (as we did last year) to the Colonial Club and it was worth it. Our butler, Jeffrey went above and beyond the entire week. He personally visited us at least twice a day and gave us his text # if we had any questions or concerns (which we did and he immediately helped us). Jeffrey also arranged restaurant reservations for us. He, along with the other staff members work very hard so that all guests have a wonderful vacation. We loved the adult only pool and the bartenders, Yasel and Joselin, quickly got to know the guests and what drinks they liked. Many times they would be pouring the Presidente beer as they saw me walk up to the bar (and added lime!) - that kind of service really enhances your vacation. Another great part of our stay at the Majestic was the French Restaurant. As Colonial Club members, we could have semi-private breakfast and lunch here - which we did every day - the food was so good (esp. the seafood) and the staff were OUTSTANDING! Franklin, Faustino, Jhonny, Pedro, Sanchez, Viviana, Deivy and Sergio (boy, I hope I did not leave anybody out...) were always welcoming and provided very professional service. They worked so hard not only for us, but for all of the patrons at the restaurant. We tried the other restaurants last year for dinner, but this time around, ate exclusively at Le Gourmet. We loved the French style cuisine - elegant and perfect size portions so you don't overindulge. And of course, our room was fantastic - super clean and had a comfy bed. We also loved the evening entertainment - so much fun to be outside in the warm Caribbean hearing great music. Looking forward to our next stay at the Majestic - by far our favorite vacation destination.
We went for my mom’s 60th birthday, just a girls trip and stayed from Friday March 15th through Wednesday March 20th. The resort was beautiful and was always kept very clean. We were happy with the room, but there wasnt a lot storage for clothes as far as drawers, and not enough hangers in the closet. The food at the buffets was good, although we only ate there for breakfast and lunch. The French restaurant was by far the best, and the only complaint we have was for the seafood restaurant by the beach because they didn’t have the proper utensils available to actually open the lobsters. There were always plenty of activities to do and the entertainment crew made sure everyone was having a good time. Eric “Coca Cola” even got my mom and I to dance, and we’re normally very shy! We usually stayed by the adults only pool and Lionel was awesome and super friendly, he helped us brush up on our Spanish. Our personal concierge Emmanuel helped us make all our dinner reservations and made sure we had everything we needed. The only thing we were slightly disappointed about was the beach. The sea was very rough and there was a lot of seaweed, but I know that’s in no way the resort’s fault. We just preferred to stay by the pools. Overall we were very happy with our stay and will definitely return in the future!
I got the swim-up room and didn't really get the value out of it. Not an easy in/out option from the room, but technically you could jump in. I wouldn't say it was worth it, unless you just wanted to dwell around your room instead of going to the beach or any public area.
I also got the adults-only area, which was really nice just for the separation from the main traffic area. The butler was incredibly over-rated and even though I gave a hefty tip on day 1 he did not give me any extra service or consideration of the butler service, so I don't really know what it was supposed to be like. But the adults-only area has a lounge with small selection of food and hard liquor that was incredibly convenient. Also had bottles of soda & water for you to grab at any time, which I used a lot.
The beach was well maintained, but the waters rougher than I expected (compared to Bahamas experience). Not too many people walking by trying to sell tours or trinkets, but those that did come up to you were very friendly and not pushy. Actually wasn't an issue.
Overall I liked this place, but when compared to another resort up the road literally at 1/8th of the nightly price, not worth the extravagant price unless you want to really be pampered and not worry about the money.
First time in Punta Cana and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the resort, beach, food and overall experience. Colonial Club option allowed us to stay in the quieter part of the resort and a separate part of the beach. We were able to get chairs or a Balinese bed on the beach throughout the day as it wasn't overly busy. Colonial Club advertises better drink options, but we did not see a difference from non-Colonial Club bracelets. The drink options were plentiful with good options for blended scotch and whiskey (Black Label, Red Label, Chivas 12yrs old). Beachside restaurant offered steak and lobster options which were delicious. Grill dinner on the beach was also a very nice experience. Bar choices are plentiful, although at times busy when only one bar tender was present.
Beaches are not all the same in Punta Cana and the beach at the Majestic provided more room on the beach and more seating options on the sand under the palm trees. Swimming area is restricted for all hotels away from boat traffic, limiting how far you can swim out, but the waters were not crowded and you could easily swim along the shore line. The ocean offers both coral and sandy floors right in front of the hotel, so snorkeling was both interesting and easy. There's also a diving centre on the premises for those interested in a scuba day trip. I asked about freediving and was told I'm the first to ever ask, so no options in Punta Cana. You may be able to organize a private boat from other locations.
Our ocean facing room was fantastic and very spacious. Special thanks goes to Yokasty at the front desk who was incredibly helpful to fix a booking oversight and upgrade the room.
Colonial Club rooms come with a butler, and special mention goes to Andres who conveniently made himself available on Whatsapp, checked in on us regularly, and worked tirelessly to make sure restaurant reservations were booked and any other questions answered. Free swag was also a very nice surprise. Thanks Andres!!
One downside of the rooms - a very narrow toilet. Room safes were spacious enough to store a 13 inch laptop.
Gym is basic but offers a good range of free weight and machine options with treadmills.
There is a casino on the property with roulette, card tables and machine options.
Sports bar is a great place to catch a game with a crowd.
The circus show was my girlfriend's favourite of all our all-inclusive stays. The athleticism, artistry, and strength was evident in the performers.
The lunch time Dominican rice on the beach was outstanding and provided a culinary experience. The beach dinner party was exciting to see as the food selection and the musical entertainment was delightful.
Overall, the staff was friendly. It was welcoming to hear a hello, a hola, and see a warm smile. The beach restaurant staff hustle and work hard to keep up with the crowd.
Thank you for the wonderful experience.
My stay at Majestic Colonial was perfect! Everyone was so kind, helpful, and organized. Our Butler, Louis, was awesome. He did little things to try and make our trip more amazing. The beach was beautiful, and the drinks were amazing! Felipe the bartender was THE BEST. He's at the main lobby bar. He made drinks quickly and they were so good! He was so kind and helped to make sure that what we got was what we wanted. He definitely made our trip.
