How to Get There
The resort was clean and manicured. We had 3 rooms and stayed for a week. The a/c didn't work in one room so our friends had to move rooms at 2am on check-in day!! The pools were very nice but the bar service was less than par. They were not friendly, never smiled -- you felt as though you were bothering them when ordering - even when you tipped them. The biggest downfall was actually the size and layout of the resort. It was too big. Lots of walking which I don't mind but it was frustrating because I spent more time wondering around or trying to find my way than relaxing!
Just returned from GPB. A family of 4 stayed for 10 days. In a week before departure sent an e-mail to email@example.com, requesting 2 rooms in the same building, preferably on the same floor. We arrived at 2pm, the checking was immediate, and we’ve been assigned 2 lovely rooms on the second floor of the building 7. Thank you Will and Marcelo!
The rooms may not be the newest ones, but had everything we needed, all amenities worked perfectly. Couple of minor maintenance issues (the balcony’s hanger and the coffeemaker) had been fixed in a couple of hours.
The special thanks to the housekeeping team – they did an excellent job, keeping the rooms clean. The fridge been restocked daily with beer, water and soda. No problems here.
The property is spectacular and is kept very clean. The resort may be big… or small, depending upon your needs. The triangle room-beach-lobby had the longest side (beach-lobby) ~0.5 mile, not too much. If you’ll decide to visit the neighboring resorts – it’s a long walk, or you can take a cart or a very nice train.
The food was way above average AI. Huge variety, a lot of choices. We visited 2 restaurants – Oriental and Spanish – nice to be in, but not worth waiting.
Wi-Fi. Real strong and real free. Worked in the rooms, in public areas and even on the beach.
The service in the restaurants was hit or miss, varying from a first class to total ignore. Probably it depends upon a specific waiter (waitress). Just don’t take it personally and don’t allow this to spoil your vacation.
The beach is gorgeous, the water was unbelievably warm. The sea weed was annoying for a couple of days. It looks like this was a common problem in Punta Cana (this month? season?). The neighboring hotels put more cleaning efforts than GPB.
All in all we had a very nice trip. If we’ll decide to return to Punta Cana in the future we will definitely consider GPB as one of the possible resorts to stay.
Overall this hotel is amazing. Staff is very friendly and they are devoted to customer service. The ground's are amazing and well kept. Beautiful place to stay!
FOOD-The buffets are great and plenty to pick from. Yes breakfast has the same things daily and plenty to choose from but the lunch buffets had different things every day. The themed restaurant's were fantastic. The Mexican, Spanish, Steakhouse and Japanese were our favorites. The Japanese is the only one you need reservations for and you need to make them as soon as you get there because they fill up fast.
POOLS- Plenty of pools to pick from. If you want a chair get there early or wait till the afternoon when people leave to eat. Pool bars can get crowded but the staff does a great job. Lots of pool entertainment. Only complaint I have is when you go to get towels you have someone trying to sell you trips, boat rides etc.
ROOM- We had the Family Suite with the Romance option. It was fantastic. The rooms are nice and have everything you need. Outdoor shower was a nice touch. We did have the maid steal from us. Yes we had everything in the safe. We asked her for some towels and my son had walked into our room to get the tablet out of the safe and left it unlocked, walked into their room set the tablet down turned around to close it and said she was walking out very fast. Later we found money missing from the safe. Lesson learned.
BEACH- seaweed was bad but we managed around it. Other then that it was great. You do have to deal with people selling stuff but its really not that bad. Several bars on the beach. Did not go during the afternoons because we didn't want to deal with finding chairs. People will leave towels on them so you don't really know if they are being used or not. Same at the pool.
LOBBY- Great area to hang out in the evenings. Great band and atmosphere. The only bad thing is the Travel Club hangs out there during the day. They are very slick and will act like they are from the hotel and start asking about your stay. Will ask you what room you are in making you think they are inquiring about your stay. Then after you have your room will ask you what time you want to eat breakfast and they will come get you. After that experience we avoided the lobby during the day. It is a timeshare that they will try and sell you! Bad thing is they hang out right by where you can book your trips.
VENDORS- these guys hang out by the pools and beach. They are very pushy and rude. They will physically grab you and direct you to the booth. They will show you items and demand you give them a certain amount. Just ignore them and keep walking unless you want to buy stuff but the people on the beach seem to have more things to choose from.
DRINKS- if you bring your own cups they will fill them up with water or adult beverages. We brought ones with screw on tops that worked well in the pool so you didn't mix the pool water with your drink swimming back and forth to the bar.
Overall I would not hesitate to go back. I read a lot of reviews and learned that most of the people who complained just like to complain! You are in a 3rd world country and they do an amazing job every where you go. I'm sure people have real issues but if you complain about little things then get over it....you are on vacation and a beautiful resort and are probably never happy. Enjoy the resort and the country they are really great people and have done a great job.
Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites Resort in Punta Cana is a beautiful resort but the service is not good. Our family of 14 people reserved 2 suites and one deluxe room. My sister called two days before we were due to arrive to confirm everything. Unfortunately our plane from Miami had mechanical difficulty (AA) so instead of arriving at 8:30pm we arrived the next day at 1:30am. We got to the resort at 3pm. My nephew and brother-in-law had checked in earlier in the day to one suite as did my godson to another suite. When we arrived they couldn't seem to find our rooms although there were already people in them and one room seemed not to be available. They sent my sister and I to another part of the resort telling us that we were suppose to be staying in a room there instead of with the rest of the family at the Punta Cana part of the resort. We had to argue about the rooms with each of the reception people until they finally put us in a room at Punta Cana in a building 5 buildings away from the rest of the family. They did not have the all inclusive bands for everyone thus one of my nephew's and I were not able to even get a cup of coffee the next day!!!! My sister and I didn't get into our room until 5am which was unacceptable. We were told that if we went to the from desk before 11am someone would have bands for us. When I went there at 9:30am (breakfast ends at 10am) I was told that I would have to wait until after 11:30am for a band since the manager took them off property with him. I was livid since I had no sleep and needed a cup of coffee badly!!!! They finally got one for me but it took until after 11:30am before all of us could eat or get towels for the beach. Also they never got us into a room in the same building with our family and we were only suppose to be at the resort from Saturday evening leaving Tuesday at noon!!!! The rooms were nice enough but the safe and fridge did not work and although we notified them 3 times it was never fixed! They did try to make it up, since my sister spent most of her time trying to get everything fixed, with lobster and steak dinners at their French restaurant but some of us don't eat lobster! For the time and money spent to get there I was disappointed and would not stay there again nor would I recommend it!
We arrived at the resort June 14, 2018 to celebrate by birthday on June 17th. I was very impressed by the beauty of the resort, but was disappointed when the guy at the front desk nonchalantly told us that our room was not ready. An hour later when we returned, things started to look better as we were greeted at the front desk by a different employee named Rovin, who immediately expressed a genuine concern that our room was not ready. Rovin apologized for the inconvenience and immediately started trying to find a solution to the problem. Within 10-15 minutes we were being escorted to our room, which was located in close proximity to the beach. In addition to diligently fixing a problem that could have potentially been the start of a bad vacation, Rovin had a positive, upbeat attitude and was very professional during every encounter. He expressed a genuine love and passion for his job and stated that he felt it was his duty to ensure that every guest he interacts with at the Resort enjoys their stay. During every encounter, Rovin would greet us by asking if there was anything we needed. On one occasion, one of our room key cards stopped working. We mentioned this to Rovin and within minutes he retrieved the inoperable card and replaced it with a working one. Again he apologized for the inconvenience. During our 4 day stay at this resort, we met some pleasant staff, but I would be remiss if I did not mention Rovin specifically, as he went above and beyond to ensure that we had an amazing vacation, which I really did. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for making us feel at home in Paradise, Rovin!!!
