My husband and I traveled here for our 10th visit from 11/2-11/9/19. We absolutely love this resort. As I have said in all of my previous posts, the rooms are dated and in need of a face lift, but it really doesn't bother us as we are only in the room to shower and sleep and the bed was very comfortable. We stayed in Room #6212 which overlooked the pool and was right next to the Preferred Club Bar (huge convenience) so this would put us closer to the beach. The resort is a decent size so it is a bit of a walk from the lobby to the beach, but it's totally doable. The one thing that was new this time for us was them taking us to our room with our luggage in a golf cart and again to the lobby with our luggage when we were leaving. Definitely helpful for those that have special needs.

I had read on here before that the locals come in and "take over the resort" and that they get service before anybody else. I will say this is the first time where I noticed they were here over the weekend. There was a group of about 100 people for a birthday party. I never once felt that they took over or got better service than me, as a matter of fact I didn't see any of them tipping anybody, really a shame even though it is not required, they were running their butts off for them and didn't get a tip at all. The one day one of them took their phone and attached it to the speaker at the pool bar near the beach and BLASTED it. It lasted about 15 minutes before Security yelled at them. But honestly other than that incident, I didn't feel that they were a bother.

Rooms - Rooms are spacious and nice, just tired. The room was made up every day before I returned from the day in the sun. We only had turndown service once and just kept the do not disturb card on the rest of our stay, we didn't need it.

Pool - The pool is one of the best features here, it runs through the entire resort in a lazy river style, it is only about 3 feet deep, there are plenty of floaties (as long as children AND adults don't pile 6-7 of them together at a time and hog them all).

Restaurants - We ate at Seaside Grill (delicious steak), Portofino (I had steak, my husband had chicken, both delicious), Himitsu at the teppanyaki table - delicious chicken, beef and rice and at the World Cafe where they have several options. We really have no complaints about the food at all. Breakfast was good and the only minor complaint I have is the bacon is not normal bacon, it's more like canadian bacon and like beef jerky if that makes sense.

Entertainment - what can I say... these guys keep us coming back and keep us laughing. Wilson, Sandy Beach, Papa Smurf, Benjamin Franklin, Pucca and all of the other wonderful people they employ that keep games going (beach volleyball, pool volleyball, zumba, water aerobics, dance lessons, spanish lessons, they are always doing something to entertain, then of course their evening entertainment. True gems.

Preferred Club Bar - Adrian, Jilbert, Edwin and Jennifer - you guys are the best and make the best drinks.

Llino - he worked at the Lobby Bar and pretty much all over, he is great and so friendly. A true asset!

World Cafe - Salvador, Joel, Yoangel, and of course Happy Happy - Simon. You guys are amazing and give such great service with a smile every day!!!

We are UVC Members so I have to recognize Veerle, Carolina and Victoria. They are truly the best.

I highly recommend upgrading to Preferred. This gets you access to the Preferred Club Lounge which serves top shelf alcohol, they have breakfast items, little sandwiches and appetizers at lunch and in the evening. It is also one of the only places in the resort that has a/c so it's refreshing. They are open until 11 pm every night.

The Disco was closed for renovations when I was there, so they had a small room that was a makeshift disco. Very small. I did not go into the Casino.

My husband and I had massages and due to the resort being quite quiet when we were there, we were able to negotiate a great price for our massages.

While there, there was a lot of buzz that the Hilton will be taking over this resort. I truly truly hope this is not true as this is my home away from home and I would hate to think this was my last time being there. So fingers crossed that if it is true, it falls through!

Anyway, thank you again Dreams Punta Cana, for a fantastic vacation. I hope to see you again in March (fingers crossed).

Awesome place

We actually traveled here in Oct, 2017. This older resort is located on a beautiful beach. The lazy river is fabulous and the grounds are gorgeous--lush landscaping and wandering pink flamingoes and peacocks--they are very friendly. The food at the buffet and restaurants was exceptional. Our room was a bit dated but very clean. We were told that the resort was updating the rooms in another building and eventually all the buildings would be done. The servers were all very friendly and the nightly entertainment was very good. We took a day tour to Santo Domingo and also visited a jewelry factory-Larimar is the native stone and quite lovely. We would go back to this resort and hopefully the remodel will be all done.

Lovely people lovely staff, but resort needs a revamp and the staff need training

We are staying here at Dreams at the mo.
We have stayed at the other resorts in Punta Cana including Dreams Palm Beach and Breathless and found this place to be a bit run down in comparison. However, the staff and fellow guests are wonderful and we are really enjoying our holiday.
Our experience here has been mixed We have taken the preferred club option, and have breakfast in the club dining room. Everything is delivered a bit slap happy and dumped on the table with the waiter drifting off to his next job. The waiters are lovely. But it just seems that they are lacking a bit of training. There is a complete absence of management presence. This is a pity, as otherwise the place is lovely, even if it is a bit worn out.
The only other thing that I found annoying was the sign in. There seems to be some new resort opening up soon from the same group of Resorts as Dreams, and the lady who signed us in seemed obsessed to get us to go on some 'time share' like excursion to visit one. with the reward of a free dinner. We had traveled 18 hrs to get to the resort, yet she was determined that we would go on this trip the next morning. We managed to fob her off in the end, but it took some doing.
Anyway, we are still having a great time but I think its fair to say that we would probably go to Dreams Palm Beach or Breathless rather than return here purely as the place needs a bit of investment in it and the resort staff seem a bit laid back or demotivated.
