How to Get There
This was our first time visiting DR and I am so glad we booked our vacation at Chic! We visited July 31st-August 4th definitely wish our trip was longer. It is a little farther from the airport but it is totally worth it. Our concierge Paul was so friendly and helpful from the first day. Our first night was ruined due to the rain but they had a party at the lobby bar with a talented violinist. Thankfully, it didn't rain the rest of the trip so we were able to lounge by the pool and beach. I absolutely loved the Vibe Team: Black Panther, Camello, and Frank (Wooooow!) Hahaha! They were so funny and always dancing. I wish I had that much energy! The food was great! The only issue was the a la carte restaurants don't open every night so every one was waiting to get into the same restaurant. Manager Ana G helped us with our dinner plans to make sure we enjoyed our last night. Overall everything was perfect and the resort is gorgeous!
We have just returned from Chic, and although the resort is amazing, the lack of a la carte restaurants being open let it down big time. We had many nights where we only had access to one restaurant or the buffet which is such a shame considering there are 5 on the resort! Other than this issue we had an amazing time. The staff work so hard and the resort is spotless. We had great fun doing fitness activities with Yvonne or Jean Carlos, or with the animation team who work hard every day to get everyone involved. Our favourites were Camel and Frank. The foam party and the Michael Jackson tribute act were brilliant!!
We also had great service from Hector (Nexus) who arranged our excursions...if you want excursions see Hector as he is brilliant! he can be found around the pool or at the towel collection area. We also made good friends with Jhunior (wine waiter) who made our stay very memorable as he made us feel so welcome. This is our second time to DR and we love the people. I do think the latest scare mongering has put people off as our resort was very quiet, so there was no fighting for sun beds at all! Please do not be put off by reports about DR as we did not feel unsafe at all and we even went into the main city. The people are always happy and they make you feel like family. This resort is a great place to stay if you like lively, but there are spots where you can also go just to relax. They have lots to do here and the excursions are definitely worth a go, we went to Saona island, Safari Trip and then a booze cruise and they were all really good. I hope DR tourism starts to pick up as these guys know how to look after there customers....like I said, it's just a shame about some of the restaurants not always being open, but I do think this was due to the lack of people.
Great food, amazing service, great entertainment, beautiful rooms, amazing staff, great drinks. Super beautiful, clean and well organized and maintained resort. Daily activities are really well planned and fun.
