How to Get There
This was our 2nd visit to Chic. We had a great vacation! The food at Chic is better than any other Punta Cana resort I’ve experienced (which is quite a few). Our butler, Samuel, was fantastic and really came through when our friends had room problems (their room was torn up and had 2 queens instead of a King bed, etc). The original manager was unresponsive to their unexceptible room conditions (when you pay for the upgrade) but Samuel helped to get us other perks to help make up for it. Eventually we talked to another manager and she saw to it that they were quickly moved rooms. The beach staff was great (Dioanna and Richard were standouts). The entertainment crew were very energetic and fun but there isn’t a ton of organized activities (this is a plus or minus depending on your preferences). The workout center is small but adequate. I didn’t try the spa or any of the excursions. This is a smaller place so you tend to get to know some of the other guests and you don’t have to walk far to get around. Overall a good choice in the Caribbean!
We had the most attentive butlers, Jesus & Ronald. They took care of arranging our dinners and excursions. They were readily available which was nice. The resort was beautiful and clean.
Service was good. Everyone was very welcoming and attentive.
The food was delicious!!! While you visit, you must try the Culinary Experience. The food, presentation, and service was amazing. I'm sure the menu changes, but the passion of the chef really shows.
All of the restaurants were great! I loved going to the buffet in the morning. There was a wide selection of food and lots of healthy options. Try the watermelon juice..mmm.
The Italian restaurant and Morocan place were my favorites. I also enjoyed snacking on their nachos at munchies.
My drink of choice during my stay were the Banana Mama & Bob Marley.
We were entertained every night with dancing, games, and music. Caramelo and Papi Chocolate, and Silvia were absolutely hilarious and really made each night FUN!
Rossy Rosario their reservations agent was very prompt and responsive in all communication for me trying to book a room. She quoted me for a week long stay in August for a Diamond Club Swim Out room. The quote was $2,016 for 6 nights which was about $700 less than their site. I asked three separate times and received assurance that was the price for that room as it seemed very low. I planned the vacation for that in mind and a few days later when I told her I was ready to book it she said she messed up and couldn't honor that rate she quoted me three separate times.
She then stated she got me this very special rate of $3,200 for the room and dates we had been discussing over the few days. I asked why their website was $500 less than her "special" rate. She said just book it through the site then.
Although I was quite frustrated I asked what they could do on their end such as compliminterary massages or something to make for this. Something I didn't feel was out of question. After three days she said she couldn't provide a free massage but was happy to inform me she'd get a bottle of champagne and fruit tray for the screw up.. Seeing how it's an all inclusive resort this is quite a slap in the face.
I was quite excited to stay at the Chic after I did all the research and quite disappointed how they handled their screw up. Im very understanding and people make mistakes but they've handled very poorly.
My fiancé and I were supposed to be staying here for our honeymoon in March. 14 days before we are due to fly to Punta Cana and stay at Chic I receive an email claiming that the Diamond Club Swim Up Luxury Suite that we had originally booked is not available and that the were down grading us to just a luxury suite and giving us a “25 minute massage” to compensate us for the inconvenience. First off, we were already going to be receiving an hour couples massage because we added the romance package and second, we were getting down graded from a room that had a butler, amazing view and amenities to a room that just had a window. This is unacceptable especially since when we booked the room 6 months ago it was available. 2 weeks who I had called them to verify our room booking and they said that we would have the diamond club room we booked. So for them to now say that we don’t have the room is infuriating!! I emailed Felix back immediately explaining that it was our honeymoon and it was not compensation at all and why is it unavailable now but it wasn’t when we first booked. I NEVER got a response back!! Terrible customer service, and terrible way that it is being ran.
We cancelled our reservation and luckily found a honeymoon suite available at Excellence Punta Cana where I called and received nothing but AMAZING customer service and helped us book a room with our own private pool to save our honeymoon.
All in all, we were really looking forward to staying at Chic but after that whole situation, we don’t recommend it to anyone.
We stayed at the CHIC Resort Jan29-Feb5 2019 and absolutely loved it! From Check-in to Check-out, very efficient – the room key (securely) attached to your wrist is a brilliant idea - luggage to/from room - Explanation and use of Services via the TV - Room service and Bell service was prompt – a nice touch was Guest Services called several times during our stay to ensure all was well. Thanks Luisa! The room - 2nd Floor Building 9 – was great. Building 9, other than the CHIC Mansion, is the furthest – 3-5 minute walk - from the beach, pool, bar and restaurants, so very quiet and peaceful. Plus the walk helps balance all the food and drink you’ll be having. Room was clean and maid service did a good job daily. We had turn-down service as well and they would put flowers and or chocolate/candy on the beds, nice touch. Something I’ve experienced in other Hotels, they never replace face cloths and you have to ask, Hmm! Dream bed was very comfortable. Overall the property is very well maintained.
Elements (Buffet) restaurant was so good and with the variety of healthy and well prepared food offered we ate most all our meals there. Plus the great service from Stephany, Ruth, Biienvendido & Christian, including Juan and Juana (cooks) had us coming back. What was especially nice, is when Stephany arranged a ‘special’ meal for us - Avocado Salad, Mofongo, Chicken & Carrots and Steam Fish – it was delicious and wonderful, Thanks Stephany! Loved the little coffee shop option for any and every kind of coffee and soft ice cream, plus the Munchies and Burger stand. We also ate at Pescari – well prepared and tasteful. We ordered room service a few times, which is the quickest room service I’ve ever experienced. Once they forgot my pancakes, but delivered the syrup, he was back in a flash with the pancakes. We rented a Cabana for two days and Jose was our Cabana Person – Friendly and exceptional service.
We’ve been away from home before during Super Bowl, but CHIC’s Super Bowl show was extraordinary – actually was WAY better than the Super Bowl itself! Another nice touch, is the Resort brings in Crafts People, who sell local trinkets, carvings, paintings, jewelry etc., as the Resort is 30-40 minutes from Punta Cana and the Shopping Mall at Plaza Uvero Alto requires a taxi ride. Don’t forget haggle, bargain, negotiate, – never accept the first price
Did I mention the need for more lounge chairs – poolside and beach - and or a restriction for guest to ‘NOT reserve’ lounge chairs by placing their towels on them early in the mornings, need more lounge chairs! There were a lot of fun things to do during the day pool side along with DJs, dancers, and staff who kept the guest entertained. At night there were a mix of bands, DJs and Dancers, including theme nights. The staff at CHIC were all SUPER friendly, including the grounds keepers, who offered us coconuts to drink the ‘juice’! I would have loved to mention every staff member, by name, we came in contact with, they were all excellent! CHIC is an adult only resort...with a relaxed ambiance… We’ll be returning.
So, finally, I could nit-pick a few things, but we’ve traveled and ALL properties need some improvement and or a face-lift after 3-4 years, however, as long as Property Management works on maintenance, and not just lip service in ‘canned’ responses to guest feedback, I’m okay. We the Guest also have the option to choose another Resort. Believe us TripAdvisor is where I turn to read reviews and responses for Resorts we plan to vacation at.
