Celebrating our 59th anniversary! Beautiful resort; amazing staff!

We stayed at this resort for a week in November. It was the best holiday we have had in the Caribbean; we travel there twice a year. The staff was simply the best - everyone totally tuned in to making your visit special.Edward and Karen became friends as we had cocktails and a lot of laughs with them each night at the Piano Bar; Miss "Drinkie, Drinkie from the quiet pool went way and above to make sure everyone was happy and looked after. Food was exceptional especially at the buffer! If you could only get rid of the guests who rudely smoked their cigarettes everywhere with no regard for any other guest! The grounds were truly spectacular. Can't wait to return! P& L Mills Canada

Average Resort at Best - Matches Previous Reviews We Read Before Our Trip

Lack of water pressure and hot water for multiple nights, average food, limited alcohol choices above the low grade rail selections, pool closes early at 6pm, but the staff was the bright spot. Oliver was the best. Beds were firm and they did offer multiple pillow styles if needed. As long as you expect average or below in many aspects, as compared to other resorts that is what you will have at CRB.

We do a lot all inclusives and Catalonia Royal Bavaria was a very nice resort, not the best but very nice for the price. We upgraded to the preferred package and it was well worth it. On the preferred package you stay at the adult section which was very nice. We also could go to the family side for pools bars and restaurants but family side could not come to the adult side. The family side was nice. A lot of kids, the pool at the family side was big and had a kiddie pool. Lunch at the family side had a nice buffet and help yourself place for hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, andbeer/ soda. We ate there for lunch one day and the burgers were good, pizza was just ok. That’s the only time we werat the family side during the day, pool activities and games looked like a lot of fun. Activity personal were outstanding and very friendly. The family side has some good restaurants for dinner. Mostly stayed at adult side which we enjoyed. Nice restaurants at the adult side and very nice pool. The activities were very good at the adult side, nice and quiet for reading and relaxing. There was a pool party at about 4/5 pm everyday with great music and most people danced in the pool. After the party there was always live entertainment at the pool which was good, electric sax or violin. There is a nice bar and 3 restaurants at the adult pool and nightly live entertainment. The rooms are a bit outdated but still nice. Not in the room very often,so not a big deal. There are no ocean view rooms at the resort but only a 3 minute walk to the beach, beach was nice water calm a little seaweed but not like other resorts with tons. There is a suschi bar and drink bar at the beach, preferred have a roped off section. There are servers at the pools and beach and they are very friendly or you can walk to the bar for a drink. Nightly entertainment at the family section was very good, there is a nice bar for drinks and to relax at the nightly entertainment. There is a coffee shop with sweets and sandwiches at the family section which was very nice. The walk from the adult to family section is about 5 minutes. The wine at the resorts was actually good, usually the resort wine is not good but it was here. The food is good, not great but certainly not bad. All my meals were either good or very good.Overall the resort is very nice for the price. I’ve stayed at nicer resorts but spent more money. This resort is a very good deal for the money.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly

This was our first experience at an "all-inclusive" and there was a learning curve for us. It would have been nice if there was more documentation on the rules of the resort. Dining and service was excellent. Resort staff was nice and friendly. Outside vendors were very pushy - there were many attempts from these vendors to sell us excursions, massages, hair braiding, marijuana and "coco." We were without power and water for one morning that appeared to be resort wide. This wasn't that bad though and everyone sort of rolled with it like it was normal. We did do not speak Spanish well however this was not an issue as most people spoke English well. They appreciated our attempts speaking the native language and smiles are universal. A big issue for us was the room. We did not have hot water in the shower for our entire 7 day stay. After talking with numerous staff on numerous days it was never resolved though there were many maintenance attempts made. Overall we had a nice time however think I would try another resort.

Inconsistent at best.
