How to Get There
We walked into the hotel loving the country, the people and the food. In a matter hours, we got so frustrated and disappointed. The room has leaks on the ceilings, a used shaver and bar soap from the previous guests. We called housekeeping and the reception FIVE TIMES. Five times they told us they’ll be a handyman coming to fix and clean everything up. We waited 2 hours and nothing happened, nobody came to fix anything. We headed to the reception feeling so devastated and disappointed.. I don’t quite mind an outdated, old-looking room- but a dirty one is just truly unacceptable. We are on our honeymoon, spent so much for a priviledged junior suite, expecting good service. We’re still here and i’m writing this review in the lobby, waiting for a change of room. We’ve been here for almost 3 hours. I almost begged the staff to help us. I’m not trying to be difficult guests and make a huge fuss. But hygiene and cleanliness should and MUST be the priority of ALL hotels- big or small, old or new. We were really looking forward to our honeymoon, my husband and i, and now we’re not sure what to expect anymore. I just hope the hotel makes it up to us now. It’s already ruined our experience so far.
Very nice place I love it everything was organized we had so much fun me and my husband specially the staff excellent service Juan Pedro and Luis Omar best bartenders no complaints at all I will definitely coming back!
We've made the Catalonia Royal our go-to when we need a vacation. We made our third visit to the resort from October 1 to 8, which happened to coincide with the raining season. The first half of our trip was sunny and hot, while the second half was overcast but enjoyable. The nice thing was that because it was low-season, everything felt less busy than during the winter, however, there was a lot more "budget" Americans who thought that they should be treated like Beyonce.
Since our previous visit, they have renovated some facilities that we noticed, including:
- overhauling the Sea-Blue restaurant in the lobby
- new lounge chairs at the beach
- new washrooms in the privileged suites that added second sink and reduced the size of the shower (but in a reasonable manner)
Since we were there during the low-season, the time-share "concierges" were much more aggressive and we were approached at least three times during our visit as opposed to our typical one time. On the family side, they also seemed to be renovating the Japanese restaurant from the "show-style" to a typical sit down place. Given past problems where we were turned away because they were over capacity, this makes sense, however the past experience always made sense.
We'd go back to this resort in an instant. It's a great place to visit, the staff are friendly, the facilities are good, and it's close to the airport.
Our second visit at The Royal. Please try all the restaurants. Its worth the short walk to the other side. Also the coffee shop is worth a mention. If you just want to chill, like us ,then adults only side is perfect. Good food and great staff. If you’re after someone a bit more livelier, then the other side of the hotel is probably better for you. Please take plenty of small notes for tipping. The staff work hard and really appreciate it. We will be returning next year.
The resort was so relaxing. The beach and infinity pool were perfect for times when we just wanted to hang out, relax, and sip a drink made by Santa. The other pool was fun with music playing, Carlos mixing drinks, and Oliver making sure everyone was having fun! The staff made the experience extra special.
