How to Get There
I am a novice Spanish speaker, but I had absolutely no issue communicating with any of the staff at the Princess Resort. Everyone from the front desk clerk, the servers in the restaurant, bell caps, bartenders, etc.- ALL spoke and understood English and communicated very well.
The property was immaculate, fabulous selection of tasty food during every meal. My room was spacious, clean, quiet and very comfortable. TV reception pulled in channels in French, German, English and Spanish.
The Bavaro beaches are amazing! Clean white sand, blue clear waters and several water & beach activities.
Check in was quick, the trolley train is a good idea to take you to your room. The room was stunning, comfy bed, jacuzzi tub, mini bar, bath robes and sky tv. The grounds are beautiful and I love the animals peacocks, flamingos, ducks, turtles, Errons and I made a friend of a cat. The beach is beautiful and the pool is ok. The food ok favourite was the Italian. The cocktails was nice.
Cons - the entertainment at night was non existent, not much to do at night.
People trying to sell you things and want money off you. If you donât tip you wonât get top service. I was bitten to the point of my legs was covered I sprayed but it didnât work. Everyone was itching. The Chopin buffet was never open. Other than that good place
We recently stayed for a week 2 times in June. Once for vacation and the second for a wedding. Daniel at the front desk was beyond helpful with getting us into a room in an area we wanted to be and keeping family close by. This was our 8th trip to this resort and he made it one of the best.
We traveled to Bavaro Princess the first week ok June on a family vacation (6 adults).
Ill break it down by categories and rating.
Hotel/Rooms: 3/5 The hotel is enormous!!! to the point where it becomes overwhelming and your only true way around is by a trolley that runs ever 10-15 minutes. Its a beautiful resort with all these birds and greenery but its too much. The rooms are clean although the AC didn't work as well since there was big gaps in all our room doors which let the cold out and heat in along with bugs This was the case in all 3 rooms we stayed in. The beds are HARD like you're sleeping on the floor hard. Some of us had problems with water pressure but from my understanding they are redoing the entire hotel.
One BIG issue we all had was EVERY. SINGLE. DAY our key cards to get into the room wouldn't work, we knew to keep them away from electronics and credit cards and we still couldn't get in. So you can imagine our frustration of needing to take a 10 min trolley ride to the lobby not including the time you have to wait for it (we timed it) and then back to have one of two cards work and one time none of them worked. I was told that there was an issue with our doors but all 3? for 6 days it was ridiculous.
I don't know if its the time of year but EVERYONE i mean every guest you came across was covered in these tiny bug bits so bring bug spray!!
Food:2.5/5 The main Buffet was good. There was two restaurants closed for the entire time we went but by far the best one is hibachi. Our least favorite was the steakhouse where everything was flavorless (you also get eaten alive from all the bugs).
Pool and beach: 5/5 Both the beach and pool are extremely clean, chairs and umbrellas are easy to find you don't need to save chair unless there's a specific place you want to sit.
Entertainment: 0/5 This is the first hotel in many that we have been to that had such horrible entertainment both during the day and at night. Almost everyday we would look at the chart of events and time and go to the location they indicated and there wouldn't be anything going on at all. There would only be music in the late afternoon at the swim up bar and then water aerobics other then that they never had anything going on. Thank god for us being a big group because if you went as a couple you would be board. At night the shows weren't worth your time which we understood when the first two nights we couldn't figure out why the theater was so empty.
A BIG problem with this hotel that i have never experienced before is the people on the beach and around the pool trying to sell you excursions. These people will NOT leave you alone no matter how many times you said you weren't interested. They also have so many walking around that within a 15 minute span of time you'll have 3-4 different people come up to you while your trying to relax. And this happen every single day some would remember you and say stuff like come on you know you want to do xyz and just not leave you alone.
Solo stay. Rooms dated. Four star only. Friendly staff. Premium not worth the extra. Enjoyable but not fantastic. Food okay. Fish restaurant meal fantastic. Pizza restaurant not worth the booking,4 star
