How to Get There
Everything in the resort looks well groomed and carefully taken care of: beach, grounds, everything clean which is quite rare for DR. Evening shows are fun and the restaurants are fantastic. So, definitely recommend for a couple of any age.
Great service. Room was a little dated and the bed was a little hard to my liking, but the staff and resort were pretty and manicured. The staff was very friendly and everyone reiterated they were there to serve.
Our trip was amazing. My wife and I are both vegan and had enough options to eat at the buffets (not so much the restaurants you have to make reservations at). We lived off of rice, veggies, fruits, beans, pasta and bread. Food was satisfactory.
Our room was so spacious (1,100 square feet - premium level oceanfront view), and the air conditioning was nice. We had two bathrooms and multiple balconies, one with a jacuzzi on it!
Note: Don't lose your orange beach towels or they will charge you $20 for each one! We were not informed of this when we checked in, and it was an issue.
Adults only is the way to go...however, there were some kids, at times, on our beach, which was kind of annoying.
Lots of activities to do at the resort. The club is fun, if that is your jam. Lots of water sports. Karaoke, shows, pool, ping pong, huge chess, etc.
It would have been cool if the beach was more lit up at night. It was hard to enjoy at night when it was pitch black.
Bring bug spray if you plan on playing mini golf, because the course is in the middle of little pockets of swampy water.
The excursions were also really fun. The best, by far, was Bavaro Splash; you go snuba diving and get to drive your own speedboat. So much fun!!!!
Monkeyland was also fun, except for the fact that those monkeys are not native to the DR. They are from Central America/Costa Rica...so it's not their "natural" habitat, like the program claims.
Jesus from guest service was so great! He played pool with us out in the lobby area for a few games. I won, and he gave us a free bottle of rum (even though we really have unlimited alcohol being here, the bottle was cool).
All of the staff was accommodating and kind.
The DR does not know what vegan is (a select few knew the term vegetarian), so we had to ask a lot of questions in Spanish. Like does this have butter in it? Is there milk in this? Etc. So I wouldn't recommend this place for someone with specific allergies or who is gluten intolerant.
The resort is very clean, and so is the beach. They have so many staff members, always cleaning and serving people.
Make sure you tip staff generously, they work really hard, and I don't know how much gratuity they actually receive in what is paid for in the total cost of the trip.
No need to exchange your money, American money is good here, and preferred.
Overall, it was a good trip. Very very humid. Nice breeze. We went mid-December 2018.
Always a great experience staying here! The staff is professional and friendly, the food and entertainment are great, overall a freat service quality!
Special thanks to jesus from Guest Services for making guests feel welcome and taken care of!
Beautiful manicured grounds. Practically on beach with plenty of sun loungers. Spacious room with very comfortable bed and pillows, Bathroom very clean and spacious and although tired didn't this didn't bother us. Food of every sort for every taste. Of the five included restaurants, Chez Gormet and Brisa restaurants were fab with the others a bit behind.
