How to Get There
Travelled as a family of three (2 adults and a 1 year old baby) on the 12th of November 2018 from Manchester with Thomas Cook. Quick transfer from the airport to the hotel - 45 minutes. Greeted with a cold drink which was perfect after a long and tiring flight and then the check in went really smooth.
Other than a couple of hiccups during the first day (more about this later) I can say that we had a lovely time at IHD. Despite the fact that the hotel caters more for south american clientele we didn't had any problem communicating in English will all the members of the staff who were very courteous and professional.
The hotel grounds are very well maintained by hardworking gardeners and it feels like you are in a botanical garden. The beach is nice and clean and never had problem finding a sunbed even at 10AM. The pools are lovely too - warm water, cleaned continuously and well maintained.
The food is excellent and very tasty with lots of options at every meal. We stayed for 2 weeks and tried all the a la carte restaurants but never got bored with the food. Thumbs up for all the waitresses in the restaurants and the bartenders at the bars. They are all very hard working but always have a smile for you and do their best to serve you as soon as possible. The drinks quality was also very good with a large variety of cocktails. For some reason they were always running out of bananas and couldn't get a banana milkshake at times but there were always other alternatives.
We had a standard double room which was spacious and clean. TV with lots of channels including cartoons for the little ones. Minibar restocked daily with beers, water and soft drinks. Nothing extraordinary but nothing to complain either.
I used the diving centre to get my PADI Open Certification and I can say that Dressel Divers were very professional. Their instructors were very patient and supportive and I felt secure all the time.
My partner used the Spa on a couple of occasions and she was very happy with the service she received.
The weather was perfect, 30C and sunny with showers in the evening on 2 separate days.
As previously mentioned there were some hiccups during our first day. Don't get me wrong, we had a lovely time at IHD and enjoyed very minute but I will mention this as it will help to improved the quality of the services. As we arrived quite late and our little one was exhausted we decided to put him to bed and use the room service to order some food - 2 basic cheeseburgers and chips. Phone in the room was not working so had to contact the concierge via the app. Got no answer after 1 hour so went to reception - apparently the app was not working...No problem, things happen, I have been reassured that the food will be delivered to the room as soon as possible. It took however another 2 hours and other 2 trips to reception until we finally got some food. They have apologised the next day and when we returned from the beach we were surprised to see that a bottle of champagne and a platter of fruits were delivered to our room. Many thanks again for this.
Overall, we had a great holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to return or to recommend this hotel to friends or family. Keep up the good work and looking forward to see you again soon.
We spent 7 nights here over Thanksgiving and enjoyed every magical moment! The resort is large but easy to get around. Had a personal concierge who made our dinner reservations for each of the 4 restaurants. Our favorite was the steak house however each was great in their own way. Food delishous and amazing service. Bars all around provided good service and great beverages. One tip is please take some $1.00 bills- the great service gets even greater if you show you appreciate the hard work these employees do. The room maids, bartenders, waiters, and even the guys who fix the daily beachside lunch deserve to know they are doing an amazing job!
We chose this destination yet again, not only for the beautiful buildings, gardens and beach but especially the warm welcome received from all the staff, from kitchen porters to management, most of whom remembered us from previous visits. Even if they didn't, they welcomed us warmly. The hotel has never let us down in the past and it certainly didn't this time. The food was excellent with the extra dining on the beach every lunchtime, being a welcome alternative to the other lunchtime restaurants with the Chefs being as entertaining as the food (this means you Miki-Miki). The speciality restaurants were up to their usual high standard, again as much about the "show" as the food. We had an added bonus this year as arriving later than usual we got to see the wonderful Christmas lights and decorations for the first time, which were truly spectacular, like nothing we would expect to see in England. A special shout out goes to Lenny and the animation team, Yan, Ramon and the beach bar staff and Jhonny, Nilsa, Daivy, Viktor and Alberto in the buffet restaurant, not forgetting Carlos in the lobby bar. The only reason we list these people in particular is because we cannot list everyone, despite the excellent service received.
Thank you all and see you next year.
Our flight from Chicago was nice and once we got through check in we had nothing but fun. The sand is so soft and the water so clear. This is my first time at an all inclusive resort. I love it! All you want whenever you want it. And the excursions we went on were very fun and interesting. I look forward to coming back!
Great Hotel. Beautiful climate. You will enjoy it any time of the year. Spectacular sea-side view.
Welcoming and friendly service - would like to especially mention Wilkin Bectran.
Has special programs for children
