How to Get There
We booked our trip in february 2018 for december 2018. Three days before we fly to Punta Cana our travel agency told us that the hotel has cancelled our booking because of "overbooking".
How is this possible??? The hotel knows since 8 months, that we come in december???
Never ever again... Worst experience...
4 days into our holiday and rooms are definitely not up to basic standard. First room we were given looked onto building site and key got stuck in lock every time we opened door, our friends room water from shower came through into wardrobe. Moved to different rooms, friends new room ok, ours, water floods into bedroom when using shower, came and fixed it last night but room smells fusty as a result. Came back tonight and water dripping from ceiling, got a bucket under it, so frustrating. Real pity as complex nice and beach beautiful just rooms let it down unless you pay to be in privileged.
We booked a 7 day stay for 4 people 2 rooms on 2/10/2018 to stay 11/24-12/1. We were meeting 12 other people whom booked around the same time. We arrive in two separate vans. We were told that there was construction and no rooms available. We would need to go to another hotel... The old Dreams La Romana now the Hilton La Romana. We had book privileged. We were obviously upset and confused. How could this happen? If we had to move we wanted to make sure we were the same status. The Manager repeatedly told us yes. Not to worry. We arrived at the Hilton La Romana and it was beautiful but we were not at "preferred" status the equivalent to Catalonia "privileged" We went to concierge multiple times a day at the Hilton as they attempted to reach the Catalonia Manager. Finally on day four we contacted Travelocity who finally was able to reach the evasive Catalonia Manager. We were offered a compensation of three free days at Catalonia on a different trip and not to be extended to our existing one. So fly across the world again in hopes of a room waiting for you?? I think not. I have emailed Catalonia Corporate, La Romana, Travelocity and my credit card.
10 days booked through TUI and we chose the basic level being content with where we were and just somewhere to crash at night. Don’t know where to start. Staff on TUI flight too busy talking to eachother to help you. Get to the hotel and the receptionist is asking whether you want to upgrade for $400 before you’ve even walked over the threshold. Room had walls furry with damp, clothes were soaked and stinky after just a few days in the foul smelling room. Significant building works wake you up and disturb your day. Sink wasn’t even plumbed in. Boyfriend had two bouts of food poisoning from their food. Astonishingly rude customer service. Complained to the hotel and Tui daily - got a wrist band that meant we could go to a different part of the beach where you became eligible for a sun brolly (past loads of annoying signs trying to filter guests into their payment streams) but was left in our room because there were no others. Day after day at reception and talking to the rep - eventually got 10% back which I think is an absolute joke given the experience and the days spent inside a horrible room dealing with d&v. £2500 this cost us and it’s not what you want after getting engaged on the first night!
